I just got out of being in a wheelchair from shattered heel and broken ankle in the same exact unexpected type of way. 6 months later I'm riding my Harley melting my walking boot on my exhaust and barely walk. Kids don’t typically wear heels on slides like these. In fact…adults don’t either. Because that would be a stupid thing to wear. Flat bottom shoes are worn for this activity. My mom say people scream when they break something. I slipped on mud on a rainy day. I heard my ankle pop. It kinda hurt too. I didn't scream but I thought I broke it. Luckly it was just a sprain. Fun fact, when you break a bone.. depending on how it happened or how fast it happened, it usually happens so fast that you quite literally wouldn’t feel it. So her reaction was actually very normal however, she will definitely feel it about 60 seconds later.

I used to be a CPSI which is a safety inspector. You have video of that happening. You need to take action. And if a child ever gets hurt on a playground you can take legal action until they turn 18 years old. So if it happens young document it always.

Ouch! They should have had the end of that under the pipe, to remove the bump. The city is liable for that. Usually they do a better job on playground equipment. I've installed it before. Someone else could do the same thing until it's changed. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen. They might wiggle out of it on account of it being made for little kids that don't weigh as much, but it's still not supposed to have hazards like that. Take a picture of it to take to court with you. It'll get fixed really quickly then. The hazard will still be there for the next person. This is why the cities got rid of merry go rounds, too much liability insurance to keep them. Easy money for you though 🤔. Sorry that someone did a poor job on the equipment install. That's why some towns don't want playground equipment. It has to be checked for loose bolts, etc. Because of stuff like this. Well you got good video evidence of it at least.

The bump doesn't matter to a kid with tennis shoes. It's not made for adults. They should put up a sign, not for people over 80 pounds, or something. Because they have a liability issue if more people use it. The way it is, they're open to the public, and liable to be sued for unsafe equipment. They probably just figured there wouldn't be adults trying to use it, and thought it would be okay like it is. It's a small hazard that won't affect me, because I see that it's there. That's from working for two small cities. I've seen what a tiny hazard can get the city into. The average person doesn't see small hazards but city parks and street dept workers have to make sure things are ultra safe. No, I've never had a broken bone except I cracked a knuckle playing football in the eighth grade when it was 18 degrees. That was in 1970.

When I was 13 I snapped my humerus in half while skateboarding. Funny thing is the severity of the injury doesn't hit you immediately because you don't completely know what just happened just that something doesn't feel quite right. My arm was numb and tingling at first and then about 10 seconds later every single nerve around the break was on fire. It dropped me to my knees and off to the hospital we went. Oof. Terrible day, that was.
