I don't think 30k is too much for an emergency fund. I have mine at 12 months which is around that. Im around the same income, ive seen people out of work for almost a year or more after a layoff, so that 30k or whatever a years worth of expenses is could be a life saver! What i do to get a little more interest is split my emergency fund in half and put it in two cds with different maturity dates, like 6 month and 9 month. I have another savings that is enough to cover until either of those cds mature, so I wont come up short. Its nice to see someone else so meticulous about their budget, I love to see it!
