We can recognize the biggest names in space by just their last names: Bezos, Musk and Branson. But you might want to keep an eye on an up-and-comer: Ellis. In order to join Elon Musk’s SpaceX in the race to Mars, Tim Ellis’s Relativity Space is building the world’s largest 3D printed rocket. Tim spent five years working at Blue Origin before leaving to start the first 3D printed rocket company with a $500,000 check from Mark Cuban. Here’s how a 31-year-old named Tim Ellis built a $4.2 billion space start-up called Relativity Space.

Suddenly my respect for Mark Cuban has increased. Computers and Software catapulted humanity centuries ahead when creating Computers and Software became possible from a simple Garage. Likewise, we should be able to do Space exploration in our garage too. I have always imagined having a small lab kit where we could explore human cells and simulate string theory. Though this is not a garage project, 3D printing a rocket and Cuban funding it is good start. We will make it one day and find the answer to this universe together.

Cuban wasn't an innovator - he got lucky someone one wanted to buy his non working crappy Radio on the internet company for a bit over a billion. (the company no longer exists). Cuban has been riding off that for years with his only money making venture being a basketball team. Almost all his other public investments have crashed and burned including all his useless crypto pumping.

I have purchase growth stocks too a little at a time over the past few weeks. @@corail53 We appreciate your take but that's only a spectator's perspective. A quick paraphrase of the grueling work and learning that was invested by this young man. In any event, we meant that small ideas seem to NEVER move. They don't motivate individuals nor attract an audience. This company likely WILL lose much money early on. But if it takes off... That possibility is what excites the crowd. Buzzwords have their utility.

This startup has no real competitive edge. 3d print is cool… but where is your rocket that actually fly? Probably get the same fate as blue origin… gonna fly no real rocket.

so 5 billion in other people´s money, what is the payback? How many square feet do we want, a trillion feet, to show we are "big"?

If you’re telling me this is nurture, gtfoh. This was clearly nature. People in their 30’s and 40’s don’t even know what they want to do in life. Some people just have their path laid out from the day they were born.

Im inclined to agree with you but just to play devils advocate, do you think it was his natural curiosity or his surroundings that played a bigger part?

@@forfucksakecomrade it started at an extremely young age. Most children experiment with different things. Very few children just stick to one thing at that young of an age imo. I think both nature and nurture will always play a part but I think In this case I feel it is heavily skewed toward the natural side. I will give him credit as an adult for recognizing and maximizing this natural curiosity in this one domain though. But nah. He had it made from the get go.
