That is a great idea Anthony, thanks for sharing it. Along the same idea, I use these pink rubbery thimble type things that I bought at the Dollar Tree. That is what I bought them for originally but ended up transferring them to my canning supplies as they work great to save the digits from burns.

@@shawna2759 that would most likely be because of warm temperatures. Butter naturally separates when warm. If the seal is still good the butter should still be good. Do check however. If it has a rancid smell, chuck it. You can melt it again and shake or stir it to blend everything or just use it as is. Some will just have a bit more milk solids than the rest. @georgiagirl66324 жыл бұрын
No. There's another way to store butter in jars. The End product is called "Ghee". It's wonderful. The process is done on the stovetop. Ghee can be made by heating butter to remove the water and milk solids from the fat. Ghee is completely free of the milk sugar lactose and the milk protein casein, whereas butter contains small amounts of each. For people who have allergies or sensitivities to these dairy components, ghee is the better choice. Its smoke point is 485°F (250°C), which is substantially higher than butter's smoke point of 350°F (175°C). Therefore, when cooking at very high temperatures, ghee has a distinct advantage over butter. I Fry chicken, pork, fish, etc. in ghee. Also, it's still has the butter taste so I use ghee on toast and vegetables. I no longer buy vegetable oils.
@kalm37684 жыл бұрын

Forgot to ask what is shelf life? Thank you hugs from Florida🙋♀️❤️
@cookiemama44 жыл бұрын
Shelf life is about 4 years, but some canners say 2 years. I would just check a jar after 2 years and see what the consistency is.. :)
@littlehummingbird10153 жыл бұрын
It's the length of time for which that the food you store 'on a shelf' will be good. Packaged, jarred foods have the date on it somewhere, usually on the top or bottom of the package/can/jar. But foods always are good way after that date....2-5-10 years, really .

How many minutes do you can it for. You never mentioned how long you can it for. Thanks.

If you are going to make butter use the very healthy Irish grass fed butter

Can you use a water bath for butter? If so how long? And how long does it keep?

I was thinking the same thing. Can this be done by water bathing method ?

I had seen if you use all salted butter it’s very salty when it’s canned. Is that true?
@coolpop194 жыл бұрын
Yes. I do half and half. And its like salted after its canned
@cookiemama44 жыл бұрын
@@DebieSims I used half salted and half unsalted. The result was a perfect flavor! When I buy butter for daily use, I use only salted butter. I'm very happy with the half and half blend! 🤗

@@jeanmarie53124 👄Longer, especially if you use unsalted butter.

@@renecurry6551 I am wondering why butter with a tad bit of salt in it wouldn’t last as long? Especially since it’s usually used as a preserver. I’ve never canned butter, but considering it, and I usually prefer the taste of salted, so very curious about this. Thanx

How long did you pressure for or did you just bring canner to 10# and turn off.

Tell me why we cant melt the better in the jars in the oven then take them out and process them in the canner?

As soon as it gets to 10 pounds of pressure you just turn it off and let it cool?

Another question, why put water on your flat lids? Why not dry heat them in oven with jars?
@hannahives92093 жыл бұрын
So kind of like milk you just bring the canner up to pressure and then remove from heat?

rewatched the video after reading comments. It looks like there is no processing time after getting up to pressure. correct?

Is there a reason why you can't spoon in soft butter? All the melting and heating seems redundant, when you could time it longer. If canning raw cold meat is possible, why not butter?
@lyssapainter68262 жыл бұрын
I’d think the only reason to not do that is because you can’t make sure it’s at the right fullness 100% . I agree though that you could probably try that
