Great video. Thanks. I noticed you continue to reel when the fish is taking drag and when you are not gaining on him. That creates real twist in your line. Suggest you don’t reel at those times. Also try chicken thigh chunks marinated in strawberry jello for bait. And if it is legal where you are put a couple drops of liquid anise (the food flavoring near the vanilla in the grocery store) on your bait. It gives off a sheen in the water and really draws them to your bait.

Definitely creates line twist and can bind up when you cast back out..always tighten the drag a bit tighter to where the fish barely pulls drag otherwise you'll regret it later..

Notice how this guy is smart enough to fish by the ladder just in case he accidentally falls in there. Some people make the mistake by not doing this, then fall in and have no way out and drown.

Lol, my Dad used to own an auto repair shop in Kettleman in the 80s-90s. It was across the street from a restaurant called Majors Brothers, but I think Majors Bros is now a Mexican restaurant called Chalios. I had fun playing in the hills back then. I had a huge boxer dog that followed me everywhere. He was 113lbs and 27in at his shoulder, a freak for a boxer, anyways one of his favorite things to do was to follow me out into the hills and chase and fight coyotes, while I shot at things with my bb gun, lol... In Kettleman, we used to go drop a little 2 man boat in that little river off the 41 near Stratford. When we fished the aqueduct, we went out by Huron by the old motocross track. Good memories!!! Those were the days!

Great vid! I used to use sardines too until i discovered the koolaid chicken breast secret sauce. Its less messy cuz you cut the breast up before u marinate and it stays on the hook better than sardines. Best catfish bait ive ever used

Love the vid! Although I’d suggest you try out some OWNER circle hooks if you’re going to leave your rods in the rod holders, although catfish bite aggressively they too don’t hold onto baits for more than a couple of seconds so it’ll be a good way for you to lose less fish in the future

You gotta use your rod to gain line instead of the constant reeling with no gain. Your line is getting twists the more you do that.
