How I changed oil and oil filter on VW up

This is how I changed the oil and oil filter on VW Up (similar to Seat Mii and Skoda Citigo).
This is a relatively easy job to do but please make sure it is absolutely safe
to do so. Going under the car can be dangerous so please follow all the necessary safety precautions and make sure the car is well supported.

Oil filters are always tightened by hand

the reason might be, the rubber being pressed too much to its limits. afterwards when replacing the filter due to all the heat it has taken over the miles, the filter can get extremely tight to the motor and one might need to resort to an old screwdriver and a hammer to undo it... for the rest: a very good video on all the problems one meets while not being used to do this job. you could have stumbled into the oil reservoir to topple the vid :). always good to place some square blocks behind the wheels, pull the hand break, put him into gear - to block the car from moving

Hi there, what year is your car? I have a seat Mii, but the owners manual states VW 502.00/505.00. Is yours the 59hp model? Thanks 👍

It's 2014 75bhp and the manual says vw502 00 or vw504 00 but the vw504 can be used only in some countries like EU. It's best to follow your manual.

504/507 is used in countries where there is very low sulphur in the fuel (most European countries). For countries where sulphur is unknown or high, VW 502 / 505 is recommended.

I started with 3.5 litres and topped it up to max. level, overall I used about 3.75 litres.

When i turn on my škoda citigo the engine is shaking a little bit just like yours and i can feel it from the inside while in neutral, is that a problem?

I was told by the supplier that this is the right oil and it also matched the code that is shown in the car maintenance book.

I use that oil for my passat b8 station with 1.6 tdi. It can run voor 30.000 km. But i change it myself at 20.000 km

Change oil every 10.000 km. The engine will thank you 😊

There is a huge debate on long life oil. The general consensus is that although the oil may last 30k km, but the oil filter may not. If you were to change the filter say half way, why not replace the oil as well? Personally, I changed my oil every 9k km. 1. Oil is cheap. 2. Used oil goes to the recycle centre.

One of the properties for the VW504/507 oil, is the oil becomes dark very quickly. In fact, in the user manual, it explicitly states that do not judge the oil purely by the colour.
