I have an old Bell rotary phone; but not sure what the best path to go is for connecting it back up for general phone usage. Any tips or rec's would be appreciated. Thanks.

Great videos Tony, thanks. I see the UCM6300 series PBX has FXS ports, so can I connect my rotary phones direct to the UCM6300?

That also applies to old Linksys/Cisco SPA Series analog telephone adapters (these are already EOL).

If only my Dad had reliable internet available at his house. He has a boatload of old rotary and touch-tone phones that could be used again. Of particular interest is a touch-tone adapter that screws on the phone receiver of a rotary phone. Maybe I should get my hands on that stuff just for a good laugh. My one question would be whether or not Grandstream is still actively updating the firmware for this ATA. I still have my old Linksys model ATA that I stopped using after it went years without a firmware update. I see that the HE-Ht802 was first available on Amazon in 2016, and it just made me wonder.

Hey Jeremy, Thanks for watching. So to answer your question, yes Grandstream is actively updating the firmware for the ATA. I've just been slacking as far as getting mine up to date. I'm running 1.0.27 released on 4/15/21, which is about 4 revisions behind. They are up to 1.0.35 released back on 1/26/22. 1.0.37 is currently in Beta. Have a great day.

Hello! Here is my current set up. I have a wall rotary phone (1970's I believe) hooked up to my internet(Kinetic Windstream) phone service. I have a voltage booster connected to it to give the ringing bells the juice they need to operate. I am able to receive calls but not dial out as the phone has pulse dialing. I tried the Canadian product pulse to tone converter box, but it did not work even though I heard the tones when dialing the rotary phone. It also seemed to time out while mid dial as well. I ordered a Grandstream HT801 based on forums. My questions is, can I use the Grandstream to convert the pulse to tones given my current set up? Or is the Granstream only used as an "extension" to the rotary phone? Thank you
@QuikTechSolutions
@QuikTechSolutions 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Adam, thanks for watching and commenting. So the HT801 does convert pulse dialing to tones. That’s exactly what I’m doing in this video. There is a setting on the configuration page to enable pulse dialing. I imagine it should work for your setup. The worse case scenario is you send it back if it doesn’t. Have a great day!

Great Vid!! Do you think this will work connecting to a Cisco UCM from the mid 2010's?
@QuikTechSolutions
@QuikTechSolutions Жыл бұрын
Hi Thanks for watching. I’m not familiar with the Cisco PBX, but as long as it has the ability to create an FXS extension, I don’t see why it wouldn’t work. The programming of the ATA would be the same. If you decide to give it a shot, let me know how you make out. Have a great day.

Nice Video, thank you! I miss the step where you plug in the phone at the HT802? What kind of adapter are you using there?
@QuikTechSolutions
@QuikTechSolutions Жыл бұрын
Hi Simon, thanks for watching. So the HT802 is the adapter. The traditional phone cable (rj11) plugs into the back of the HT802. The HT802 connects to the network through its ethernet port on the back of the unit. Hope this answers your question. Have a great day!

@@QuikTechSolutions I'm asking, because most of the phones I've seen doesn't have an RJ11 plug. To be honest, all of them 🙂
@QuikTechSolutions
@QuikTechSolutions Жыл бұрын
@@simonkistler6468 the HT802 has two of them, hence the model name 802. You can actually connect two analog phones to this one device. Grandstream makes an HT801 for a single analog phone. Have a great day!

Hi Tony, years back I went to a wireless home phone setup with my cell phone provider and would love to get my old rotary phone(s) working again. Currently I’m using an AT&T IFWA-40 that connects to a wireless home phone base and it work fine. If I plug in the analog phone I hear a dial tone but can’t do anything else. So I’m guessing I need an ATA adapter. Do you think the one you’re using here will work for me?
@QuikTechSolutions
@QuikTechSolutions Жыл бұрын
I’m guessing because the rotary pulses are not being converted to tones. Honestly, I don’t think the ATA I use will work in your configuration. When the ATA is connected to the next work, it has to be configured to a VOIP phone system.

Hello , I have an ericofon (made in sweeden) but the cord ends to an 4 Pole T+T. Is there anyway to make it work with VoIP?! Thanks
@QuikTechSolutions
@QuikTechSolutions 11 ай бұрын
Thanks for watching. Check the Ericofon website. There they have adapters to adapt the phone to RJ11, which in turn should be able to use VOIP adapter. I can’t guarantee anything, but it is worth a try. Have a great day!

Do I need the PBX. Or can I just connect the HT802 directly to my VoIP modem and rotary phone?
@QuikTechSolutions
@QuikTechSolutions 2 ай бұрын
Hi Larry! Thanks for watching, great question. I wish it was that simple. While a PBX is not required, a SIP account is. The phone service has to come from somewhere. You say you have a VoIP modem. Contact that provider, tell them what you want to achieve and ask for the SIP server information to enter into the HT802. Hope this helps.

Tony I have four digatal phones that are original to my home. Can I use one FXS port to mring all four of these phones thru my 6301?
@QuikTechSolutions
@QuikTechSolutions Жыл бұрын
Hi Dennis, if what I’m thinking is correct, all 4 phones are on the house wiring. Your asking if you plug the main phone block into an FXS port. If this is the case, all 4 phones would be the same extension seeing as you assign an extension to the FXS port. So in effect, when someone calls the extension, all 4 phones will ring. I’ve never tested this scenario, but in theory it should work. Let me know…

@@QuikTechSolutions I'll be glad to let you know how that works. I have all my digital phones connected to a cat5 block for phones. I just have to feed the block with a wwire from the 6301 FXS port to that block and bingo, they will all be connected.

Hello, thank you for this video. I also have this adapter and a rotary phone. But I don't have a Grandstream telephone system. I have a German FritzBox (router with small PBX functions). I need a dial plan for the Grandstream adapter so I can dial * and # with numbers. I entered this dial plan: { [126]x+ | xxxx }, but it doesn't work completely. The second part is already functional. If I dial a 9 before the number, the connection is established. But the first part doesn't work. I would like that if I first dial a 1, a 2 or a 6, the adapter automatically puts ** in front of the number, so when I dial 620 it should dial **620. Could you help me?

@@QuikTechSolutions Thanks. I think a Lan sweeper would do the job. There isn't a screen on my Grandstream ATA, and the instructions require a separate VOIP phone to have the unit say the IP address (which seemed convoluted).

Open a Command Prompt window and enter the command “arp -a”. That way you will get all of the IP addresses that are active on your network - look for the MAC address of the ATA next to the IP and you know you got the right one
