The main thing is that you completed it. I know what you have been through this year, with training, etc.. Like me, i have had a bad year. But you will bounce back better and stronger next year, and hopefully, i will be there with you.

Well done Tony, those conditions looked awful, to avoid wet feet, try Sealskinz waterproof socks, big difference😊1:51 is excellent, I’m lined up for Manchester next month, it won’t be sub-2 I don’t think, the heel issue has reduced training to 5/6K/week😬

I've used waterproof socks before, they are a good shout. Don't forget on race day you become super human so don't wright off the sub 2 yet

Great vlog tony, I think in hindsight the weather is probably dictating your mood here, if it had been wall to wall sunshine you would have been in a different mindset, the gate issues would have really bugged me as well especially as it's such a big race things like that should not happen, for me personally though it's never been a must do race , a must watch yes as love it and never miss watching, but apart from the obviously outstanding crowd support on route there's nothing to gain my interest maybe the Tyne bridge but apart from that no other obvious landmarks of interest, a long weekend to run just 13.1 miles would be my personal view, as for your finishing time going off your age and training this year I'd say it's definitely decent, as for the gel issue with 2 miles to run do you think if you had gone without it you would necessarily had lost time if not taken, I'm sure you would have been fuelled up from breakfast and I'm guessing already had a gel mid race or do you think psychologically your head would have told you yes I must have this at all costs, thanks for uploading as I love to see all your thoughts and perspectives on the races you do in the UK and further afield.

I had the same problem with opening my last gel, my hands were unable the get any grip I resorted to my teeth. I ended up more squirting it into my mouth through a tiny rip in the top. Generally I agree with the start line organisation but it's always going to be tricky with that many people arriving at the same time, with most of them lost or confused. Just look at how much more smooth things were at the end when it's a constant stream of runners arriving.
