So powerful and just what I needed. To figure out my WHY and stop listening to all the other shoulds and must dos. Thank you for being vulnerable and sharing such an amazing encouragement.

Shawn, i've been subscribed and following for quite a while now and so often i tune in and am bowled over by the power of your message. Please know that you have truly brought joy and peace to my life. This may just be one of the only videos that i watch again because it speaks to me so much. "What is my why?" - that is so succinct and is a question that i'm always trying to find the answer too. I'm also going to send this to a highly qualified German psychologist friend of mine who was asking me the other day about why i journal and how i learn. It's all here. 🙏

I am very grateful that part of your why is to encourage us to find our why and then to have the courage to follow that why. So much of what you said way so good and helpful.

You know how they say that the eyes are the window to the soul? When I create my art, I kinda feel like that analogy because I feel like my artwork is exposing me to who I truly am on the inside and I mean that in a positive way. 😊

I just fell right into this piece, watching it go from hard to soft in the beginning was mesmerizing. I found it was like a meditation as you added more colours and patterns with stencils and then your mark making, taking it all higher and higher! You really are meant to encourage others and you do, your message speaks to why so many people are struggling these days, they don’t know their why! Thank you for a beautiful, inspiring video and I hope you have a great week ahead!💕🇨🇦

20:51 I am so frustrated and lost. I want to create but no matter what I do I can’t find my creativity. I want to enjoy creating. I feel like I’m trying to hard and I can’t let go and enjoy just trying. I know I have it in me but it is not coming easily. I’m starting to stress myself out. It tends to go hand in hand with my depression and it doesn’t help that I am a perfectionists. How do I get out of this rut? I was able to create maybe six months ago, and I so desperately want that back. This is the first video of yours that I listened to and I really liked it.
@ShawnPetite4 ай бұрын
Hi Christine, I'm so sorry you in this season. We all have those seasons... but I know for me just showing up and putting down a splash of paint or using a marker to make a line, or just doing one ugly thing in a journal or piece of paper can be the start to breaking the hesitation to create. I know that depression can be a tricky and a hard thing to navigate and it can affect our art and all areas of life. My husband deals with depression. I'm not a therapist or a doctor but I know when I'm dealing with anxiety due to so much of my perfectionist ways.... I just do one thing in my journal. Then the next day I do one more thing on the same page, and the next day one more thing..... I do this with the full intention painting over it. My goal it to make bad art. I wouldn't even call it art. I make bad stuff. It always gets me started out of the tunnel of doubt. I don't know if this will help and I hope that you are able to work with someone with regards to your depression and truly take care of you first that's the most important thing.

Thank you for the lovely video. Why do you use airbrush medium and what uses does it have other than keeping the applicator from clogging?
@ShawnPetite4 ай бұрын
I only use if for my applicator. I've tried water and other mediums and nothing works like it. I've had that mixture in my pen for months. And some I've had the mixture of paint and airbrush medium for years. No clogging.

Do you mix your own palette colors in your bottles and do you dilute them?
@ShawnPetite4 ай бұрын
my paints in the bottle are house paints. I did a color match of the artist paints that I love. Then took them to home depot and color matched them. I get them in a matte finish and get the tester size. Now that I've been using them I get the quart size. But I started with test size. They are medium body, not as fluid and fluid acrylic but not as heavy as heavy body. I didn't water them down when I put them in my bottles. Some paints I could get a color match that I like (paynes gray and raw umber) But everything else is working wonderfully. Hope this helps.
