Really hard video to make without confusing myself 😀 What do you think guys? Is Actor Components the way to go?

The pig companion is awesome. I love it so much. It makes my want to implement a companion into our games also. Keep going man, you are doing great. :) - Dan

Hey, so some the stuff you're having trouble with, blueprint communication-wise...I don't know if you've seen but there's a video from Epic on the specific topic of Blueprint Communication in UE4...It was pretty helpful for me, called blueprint communication live training - pink hair dude Zack Parrish. There's also videos for Blueprint Best Practices out there that are also useful

Components are some of the best blueprints to use. The flexibility is astounding.

Oink looks fantastic! Haha! I love the floating animation. Also the AI system looks very intuitive. The term behaivior tree gives cramps on spots I didn’t know I could get em Will you do an indepth tutorial on the AI system? Keep it up 💪🏻

I don't want pig to die :C maybe do it like in torchlight 2, when compaion hp drop to 1 he just runs in fear or can just run away and despawn and after fight he backs with low hp?
@REE-Animation7 ай бұрын
It’s a magical pig.. I can make him teleport away instead of dying 😉

Excellent work there. You have a talent to make the combat feel impactful already. Part of me thinks “man, this guy should ditch visual scripting and start coding” but I hear this is difficult in Unreal. I once shied away from this jump (albeit in Unity), but now I regret a little that I didn’t start coding earlier. The concepts and setup you learn in visual scripting (i.e. blueprints) quite easily translate. I find the synth music a bit odd given the apparent theme of the game, which seems more like warhammer-like fantasy (skaven etc). Also, are you related to DarkMatter2525 or Schwarzenegger? ;)
@REE-Animation8 ай бұрын
Thanks.. 🙂 I have zero interest in coding.. Blueprinting is hard enough as it is. Yes, schwarzenegger is my homie ✊ He just don’t know it 😉

My mind is blown by the component name! For more serious stuff. I was watching this video on a big screen. It's the first time I noticed that all your characters are overlapping when they are at the same location. Once seen I keep noticing it. Do you already have an idea how to fix that?
@REE-Animation Жыл бұрын
It will stay that way I think. Perhaps I can move the pig a little further in the back if it gets close to the player character. I tried fixing it with the enemies many years ago, made the characters collide, and made so you could push them.. But that created SO many other problems, that I just ignored the clipping problem instead
@deliciousagony Жыл бұрын
Because the pig is slow and not attacking it is more noticable I think. Other games should have this problem too
@springcar Жыл бұрын
oh, great that you tell it :) sounds fun thinking. keep inventing @@REE-Animation

i still need to get my hands on ai. but this seems a pretty easy to approach. btw, do you make the animations in blender? or also in cascadeur? in this case where your character has his axe rolling from ur hand during idle i guess you create a specific bone in the character and you animate it to spin?

Dont sleep on behavior trees, they are supppper useful to implement sequence of tasks AI need to complete and action during their 'thinking'... Do you know what a 'Behavior Task' is? They are modular bits of code you can put inside a tree to tell the AI todo stuff when that task is triggered.
@REE-Animation Жыл бұрын
I tried using it once, but it became too confusing, so I dropped it on the floor.. It’s beyond my level for now
