Do you want to create a memorable Easter week with a unit study that will impact your entire family? I created my own "Passion Week" for my family and I WAS CHANGED! The spiritual results that we experienced were HUGE!
I checked out lots of homeschool unit studies for Easter....from Gather Round....from Campfire curriculum.... but I ended up creating my own Easter unit study because I had very specific ideas about what I wanted to teach my children about Christ's passion week, his death, and the resurrection. We enjoyed lots of activities, new recipes, and discovered biblical books, historical documentaries, and relevant Easter hymns from the cross to the resurrection that helped us better understand and meditate on the importance of this pillar event of the Christian faith.
If you are a Christian mom, you are going to want to watch this video. It isn't just for homeschool families. It's for every family who wants to really study & understand Christ's Passion Week!

@@OurHOMEschoolPlan We do many of the things you mentioned. In the month leading up to Easter we also read through the gospel of Luke, usually a chapter a day.

I am 32 and you just explained the tabernacle and the link between the Old Testament and the New Testament in a way that I can actually understand!! I recently became super frustrated with the Old Testament and all the rituals (I’m looking at you, Leviticus!!) and how formal and cold it all was. I cannot thank you enough for explaining all of this!!

I'm glad it was helpful! Yes...with the Bible, its really a WHOLE picture book. I'm very fortunate to have a very good church that is very good at teaching these things. But once you understand the purpose behind all of the rules and laws and realize, this is really a picture of who God is and what he requires, its humbling. One of the best books I ever read......and its a very simple read, meaning easy to follow and understand... It's called "Made in Our Image" by Steven Lawson. Its all about the attributes of God and understanding his character, but it contrasts it with much of Christianity today, who really is twisting who God is and forming a new "god" made in OUR image....what we would like him to be, rather than us being made in HIS image, and who he really is. highly, highly recommend! Thank you for your encouragement! You made my day! I'm so happy that I could help you better understand the link! ;)

I was thinking about the other night bc we were reading in Hebrews at our church. Hebrews 8-12 , yes 4 chapters, and probably even more than that, explains the connections of the Old Testament sacrifices and rituals to Christ’s work very well. I wish I had read all of that before I did my Seder video bc I would’ve mentioned it. It even mentioned how Jesus work supersedes our need to “memorialize” the old Passover bc now, it is finished. Amazing stuff!

We do Passover some years, I don’t do it though as we do it with a family friend so do it if we are able!!! This year we will be reading Ben hurt as a read aloud now that I feel like my kids are old enough to listen into it. I should have have used the kids version but we never did with my older kids, my youngest listens in and plays alongside us!!! We love meaningful songs and hymns!!!

@@OurHOMEschoolPlan I believe so but the Easter story is within the story!!! I believe the author tried to write a book saying God wasn’t real and came to Christ in the middle of the book so wrote Ben hurr instead!!!

Hmmm... I really have no plans yet except watch some YT videos. I went to Gather Round resources for He Is Risen, I made a playlist and we will just go thru the videos. Maybe add an activity or two. Plus, mostly read alouds. 😊 I love the Resurrection Eggs idea. 😍

Thank you for sharing. We have little-littles, so I usually do the resurrection eggs and read through their storybook Bibles. I’d love to add in extra resurrection eggs to make 18, Passover dinner, and a few extra picture books. Not to mention the hymns. We love hymns! I have a Christmas Hymn playlist. I’ll probably start a Passion week playlist for us. I need to rewatch this video with a notepad, lol. Thank you again! Such great ideas! BTW, we started doing the CC memory work and both my kiddos (4 and 2) are loving it! I never expected the 2 year old to join us, but he can sing some of the songs. 🤗

You’re welcome!! I’m full of ideas!! 😉 That’s awesome that they are loving the memory work! They can’t comprehend exactly what they’re learning but I guarantee they’ll remember it. It’s amazing how those little brains work! When my youngest was 3, she wasn’t going to CC with us, but she heard all the memory work in the car with us. And one night as I was putting her to bed, she was wearing s Disney Aristocats T-shirt and she told me in her little baby voice, “mama, I love Aristocats……….AND the Guillotine!” 😂😂😂 we had been learning the history memory work from medieval time period and she was referring to a history song about the French Revolution where the aristocrats heads were removed by the guillotine! 😳😳😳😂😂😂 it was so funny and she still remembers that history sentence!

I have a question why do many American Christians mix day of resurrection with Easter eggs? Because Easter eggs and the Easter bunny don't have anything to do with the day of resurrection. The death of Jesus Christ. I just finde that very confusing. What's your take?
@OurHOMEschoolPlan
@OurHOMEschoolPlan Жыл бұрын
There’s nothing inherently wrong with the colored plastic eggs. We have never pretended there was an Easter bunny. So the eggs are just a colorful container to us. And if you watched the video, you saw we put symbols representing the Resurrection account in them to discuss. I guess it’s kind of like Christmas trees and lights at Christmas. Nothing to do with the birth of Christ. But it’s in our culture for that time of year. I suppose this is a Roman’s 14 instance. If it’s against your conscience, don’t do it. But there’s nothing evil in itself. “It’s just meat.”
