Thank you for talking about double cleansing, those of us with really sensitive skin can't always tolerate it but if you dare mention you don't do it people attack and tell me I'm cleansing wrong and its hurtful. You just have to be aware of what you have on and what you can use to cleanse it off, sometimes one cleanse is enough.

Some people feel super strongly about double cleansing, I know it changed a lot for me many years ago but respect that everyone is different and not all situations need a double cleanse!
@sballantine8127
@sballantine8127 5 ай бұрын
You absolutely do not need to always double cleanse, don't let people bully you into believing that. If you aren't wearing foundation or a water resistant sunscreen, a good cleanser, I suggest Prequal, should definitely be enough.

I alternate mornings with a vitamin c routine and a copper peptides routine. I use a retinal 5 nights and an exfoliator 1 night. The 7th night is usually a hydration routine or exfoliator depending on what is needed. It was been working.

One night for hydration isn’t enough. What about hydrolpid barrier? You stretch your skin too much with actives. It is like 6 days in gym and one for resting? Try 3 days in the row retinal- 1 one day oil, nourishing , slugging ( for lipid restoration) 1 day exfoliation 1 day hydration . Try it for a month - trust me your skin will look and behave better….

I use retinal serum every other night and my resveratrol serum every morning. On nights I don't apply my retinal serum, I apply my retinal eye serum and use a soothing serum. I also exfoliate once or twice a week, but not on retinal night. If I feel that my skin is sensitive or irritated, I just skip all actives and use my soothing essence and serum.

My reactive and sensitive skin requires that I alternate every skincare product-not just the actives. I haven’t found a product that I can use every day, not even cleanser. Another thing I do is use a base moisturizer then adjust what I put with it based on the humidity. I may add drops of oil to the moisturizer or use a heavy occlusive on top (night only). The advantage to using a baseline moisturizer that I add things to is that I don’t have to have a bunch of moisturizers, which I had before. It can get confusing and frustrating to constantly adjust, but it’s what works for me.

Washing with a gentle cleanser daytime & nighttime.. In the daytime, I alternate between brightening serum or ceramide+copper peptide serum with a green tea moisturiser.. In the nighttime, I use green tea moisturiser & Retinol moisturiser that contains kojic acid, arbutin 5 times a week.For exfoliation, salicylic acid twice a week with soothing green tea moisturiser nighttime.. Hope I am doing my skincare right

Thank you for sharing your routine Kelly ❤ My current routine for am is Make prem essence toner and Torriden solid in essence. In the morning I finish with the skin1004 brightening ampoule and the Solid in moisturizer (sometimes mixed with Hempseed oil) and spf. At night the same toner and brightening ampoule and alternating nights between Face Theory 15% Azelaic Acid serum and G&G A-game 10 finishing with a mix of same cerave as you with 3 drops of hempseed oil. My skin gets 1 restday a week and I exfoliate once a month with the PSA hero!n toner. 😘

I like that you mention that it is ok to skip double cleanse. I feel the same way. Sometimes the double cleanse is pushed too much, like - you should always double cleanse. I do not even wear makeup. And my G&G Jelly Joker (love that cleanser!) managed just fine with sunscreen. If I double cleanse, I always find my skin is a bit irritated afterwards. By the way - do you do your skincare routine & cleansing wearing lip stick? :D I think you usually would not do it, but it was because you were filming ;D

i use tret Sun, Tue, Thur & sat & i sleep in the flash mask Mon, Wed & Fri. and i have to say my skin isnt dry or irritated. im 34 and its basically an Actives pro at this point. ive been on tret for about 3 yrs and added the flashmask this year and it took my skin past the plateau in my Hyperpigmentation. my skin has never looked better and ive gotten to the “just concealer, bronzer/blush” this year 🥹 i NEVER thought i’f get here. im also in love with my Booster Pro medicube device which i use before my tret. but that i can only do about 3 times a week

I like your advice and demonstration of your process! Depending on the percentage glycolic acid, it can trigger hyperpigmentation or irritation. I avoid it and use mandelic acid 5-7% instead. It is larger and therefore has less chance of irritating 😬 Also, I'm confused by the use of occlusives like facial oil before the last moisturizer - occlusives work best layering last 🤔

This may sound like an off question given the context and your first statement, but do you recommend determining what is enough. I am fortunate in that I don't have sensitive skin. I can use the majority of actives in a combined day/night routine with Vit. C in the morning along with peptide serums. In the evening I regularly do azelaic, tret, and a heavy peptide (incl. copper) serum. The only thing in this list I avoid on a daily basis is AHA/BHA as I need little exfoliation and manage via cleanser once or twice a week. I do toners/essences/lipid gold etc. to keep the moisture barrier strong. If everything is working and used daily w/o negative side effects after months of use, is there any reason I should still be considering dropping actives from the routine?

I do something similar and I don't think reducing my active ingredient usage is necessary, if it's not broken why fix it kind of thing
@KellyDriscoll
@KellyDriscoll 5 ай бұрын
If everything is working, why are you doubting yourself? I echo @senitnel_1 that there is no need to change something that's not broken. I would encourage you to check your current skincare goals against your actives on a regular basis (like 3-4x a year) to make sure the products you're using are still in alignment with your goals, but there is no need to take things out if you're happy and your skin is doing well.

Hi Kelly, I’m curious what you think of PDRN as an ingredient? It is used in Rejuran Healer injections but topical products containing PDRN seem to have taken off in Korea. Currently trying the VT PDRN 100 and I am really impressed. It has a milky, slightly sticky, a bit moisturising, almost emulsion like consistency. It definitely smooths, softens and I think even slightly firms my skin. It seems to have gone viral on TikTok as people use it in conjunction with the reedle shot (which I cannot bring myself to try, my skin hurts just thinking about it).

I alternate at night my retinol and copper pepptides but only use my retinol 3x a week. For exfoliation, I've found cleansing 3x a week with a salslyic acid face wash has helped a lot. Not sure if this is right but has been working. For morning, i only use vitamin c and my vitamin c has azalaic acid and i also use my alpha arbutin product.

Researching other exfoliator classes may be useful. Sounds like you're using a BHA. AHA and PHA are other classes that work differently and therefore may have different benefits to you. Also, check you current product for these - you may already be using them 😄👍 Examples of AHAs are lactic acid, mandelic acid and glycolic acid. Glyconolactone is a common PHA.
