This video has a few rough edges but honestly, if you'd seen the state of me this week you'd understand! I hope it does actually answer some of your questions that have come in since the previous video, and also that some of you discover the wonder that is Eurovision because of me. NO RULES!

You mind reader! I've been pondering about making my own patterns one day! I love your humor too! Don't ever stop being your silly self! That's why I love watching you over other stitch channels

Haha, thanks, I don't think I could be properly serious if I tried so no fear there. Honestly there are so many ways to design something I'd just recommend going with your gut, trying whatever seems like it makes sense, and then tweaking things from there. There are tons of free online design tools as well you're just sacrificing the PK compatibility, but they'd at least be good for getting the basic pixel art workflow down!

Love how you do it on the computer. I just haven't got the patience for computer drawing..... so I design mine manually for myself - ie: I don't sell my patterns. I draw mine direct on grid paper with pencil and colour with coloured pencils. then I choose my colours accordingly and stitch.
@TheGiddyStitcher10 ай бұрын
Definitely fair! When I design blackwork I do it with an iPad app called Procreate which is really nice for just drawing with something approaching a pencil. Sadly doesn't work great for pixel art. But I can 100% see the appeal of just wanting to actually draw!

Your previous video is actual how I ended up watching your videos and following you on Instagram and Ko-fi. Before I got into the business of making wire trees I made like 60-70 cross stitch patterns (mostly bookmarks before they were quick and fun), but I never managed to take the next step and try selling them on Etsy or Ko-fi or whatever. With the economy the way it is I should probably get on that, but life is also very busy and one only has so many spoons on any given day, ya know? Anyways, loved the new video! Excellent update! Love the pattern! Very amusing! Definitely gonna go check out Finland's song right now. :D

So one other thing you might want to try instead of importing you can take your image file and put it behind the grid in winstitch and color over it. I do this for store bought kits that I want to keep but you could do the same with your image file. Also has the added benefit of teaching you the software in smaller chunks so that maybe eventually you can just use it on its own without all the extra steps you’re doing today. It has a lot of good functionality with layers as well and mirroring your patterns you can create stamp like patterns as well for reusability And it even has its own iOS software for keeping track where you left off similar to pattern keeper but I’m not as familiar with that. There are tons of floss vendors in there making color choices easier. The deluxe package the have with lifetime license comes with extra floss vendors and you can even make your own

Yes! Good point, I should have mentioned this background image option. It does work, obviously it's kind of finicky in its own way but some people might find it faster. Overall I've found doing the import quicker even if it takes a couple of attempts, but ymmv. I think my main problem with actually designing in Winstitch isn't the feature set it's just how slow the software runs. And it's not like I'm working with a potato level computer, here! Even something as simple as selecting and moving stitches takes about three times as long as it takes me in PS and all those little delays just add up to it not being worth it (for me). But like I said, it's personal preference and I definitely do recommend people try all the things to figure out what works for them!
@craiggordon250210 ай бұрын
@@TheGiddyStitcher cool I get what your talking about. My machine hasn’t really seen the same issue you may have. The only slow down is launching the software in my case but once it up and running it runs great in my case. The only other thing I wanted to add is the support I have gotten from both winstitch and pcstitch, both have been very responsive in helping with problem resolution which is priceless. I’m in IT and a lot of vendors from larger companies are either non responsive or you have to track someone down which can take weeks in some cases. The fact that both of the cross-stitch software packages I mention have great support and stand out for me. And it may be why I overlook some of the initial performance problems. As a whole these apps I mention are for the most part really well done and with the support levels it’s easier to overlook some problems. Just as a side note I have tried others and these seem to be the best I’ve come across overall. Just wanted to share that Love the channel, learned a lot, so thank you for that. Your humor and work style I really enjoy.😃

I highly recommend using aseprite for design work. I use it especially when I want to make a video game piece by importing the sprites to help when design. I like that you can export it in any image file and scale which I use to with flosscross since you can import pixel art.

Great video btw, you are so funny and I enjoyed watching you create your own cross stitch patterns in your first video and in this latest update. But I'm thinking of making and selling my own cross stitch patterns one day in the near future. Are you able to advise on how I can design cross stitch patterns using Affinity Publisher instead of Photoshop? I can't afford to pay for the Adobe monthly subscription and I only have Affinity Publisher now, that's exactly why I'm asking. Thanks so much and I hope to hear from you soon.

Thank's for this video, but how to create pattern that are compatible for Cross stitch saga app I like the way you used Photoshop to create this pattern 🎉
@callumhaig2 ай бұрын
Hi I was wondering how you created the original grid pattern in Photoshop? I always have to take a snapshot of my designs zoomed in at the original pixel size and this would really help for exporting bigger designs!
@SaraiMiryam10 ай бұрын
do you have to patient copyright the pattern?
@TheGiddyStitcher10 ай бұрын
I'm not going to pretend to be an expert on this since laws are different all around the world. Here in the UK though, creative works are automatically protected by copyright whether or not you actually put a copyright notice on them. At least that's the theory, but obviously trying to enforce it is where things get difficult (and potentially expensive). I believe it works the same way in the US but not 100% sure.
