One thing I did realize is that a lot of Asian girls avoid glitters and shimmers back then because most beauty gurus told us not to, and now many of us just embrace shimmer. It's just so dreamy to put some sparkle on a hooded lid!

Its fascinating to see your old makeup *style* with your current *technique* , which you've refined over the years 💖 Also I love that you and I (and many others) have gone through a very similar makeup style development over the years 😭 I'm from a Southeast Asian country but I grew up watching Western beauty gurus during the 2015 - 2018 era so I learned doing my makeup accordingly. (Also I assume as a teenager I wanted to make myself look more mature so the bold and strong Western makeup look appealed to me lol). But makeup trends change over the years, and the more natural makeup style caught on with the impact of COVID and the influence from Asian makeup communities. So my makeup style is now more natural looking, at least during the hot weather. It's getting colder here and I'm excited to wear bolder makeup looks for fall and winter lol

I love both your 2016 and 2022 look! I have been learning to do makeup for a few months now and seen many different videos. It's sad to see some videos telling people not to use more vibrant colors and not put on shimmers. They also state that only certain makeup styles are acceptable. This was fun to see. 😆 I like the 2016 side more based on my pref, but the 2016 eyeshadow would be kinda intense for everyday. I guess I like ur 2020-21 look for a lighter look, which is in btwn these two. The eyeshadow of the douyin style is pretty and light, but the winged eyeliner is just a little too light for my prefs.

I really like both sides :). I do like how the left side is more "Bronzed" bc I feel like it brings more life to your skin. And I love bronzer haha. But I L-O-V-E the right side because of that Asian beauty influenced style. And that like "Glass skin" look. The right side is where I eventually want o get with my makeup skills lol. Both are so pretty 💗💗💗. And I agree with @Ashley Bufkin. These are like day to night looks. Also your forehead is not big at all. It's a very pretty forehead ^^.

I still watch your old videos for the 3 eyeshadow ideas, and it’s so cool to see how your technique and style has changed throughout the years. Oooh I would love if this idea started trending. The videos would be so interesting. Also did not expect but welcome the realness of mentioning your body image thoughts then and now. A lot of women look back and wonder why they were so hard on themselves for their looks or weight in the past. In 6 years you may feel the same about your present self. It's hard because as women, I think we feel like we have to chase an ideal. Think of how your present self appreciates your 2016 body and direct that appreciation to your 2022 body! Yourself right now will be just as beautiful to the 2028 you, so you may as well start showering yourself with compliments now!

Also I appreciate how honest you are about your insecurities. I started gaining weight this year and although Im still thin and in fact healthier than before, Im having mixed feelings about it 😅 like yay dont feel my bones as much as before and have more curves! When I could tolerate them, I wore brown contacts, so it always shocks me when someone wants to lighten their eye color. We always want what we don’t have, I guess?! (Is Pinky Paradise still around?!)
