Greetings from London - I've been searching for help with setting up the routing of Guitar Rig within Logic and this is by far the best tutorial I've found. It has answered everything about that aspect - but also so much more. I'm a keyboard player who also plays guitar and now records stuff as as well. Finally getting to grips with Logic after years with Digital Performer. I don't know the amp models so well and so your directions on what the cryptic amp names and styles are, are a great help. Great recording guide - thanks for taking the trouble - much appreciated. I'm in !!

Thanks for posting this. Really good guide to recording. Sorry to ask, I was hoping you could help me. I have been having this issue wherein the output of the audio whenever I have a guitar with effects on is on the left it comes out both clean and with effects, while on the right i could hear only with the effects.

Thank you very much great video. I am going to try the Native plug in as I have it already. I was wondering if you can explain how to record in stereo with Logic and different plug ins. I would like to simulate a 2 amp stereo sound with stereo pedals like strymon big sky and timeline outside the box. The kind of set up you get when you play with 2 real amps and a pedal board. Maybe I am not understanding the concept properly if so my apologies.

I started out in the old days on cooledit and then to Adobe Audition. My friends and I grew up making music on computers, now 20 years later I've suddenly gone to Apple! Logic Pro and a cheap 2015 MacBook Pro. 1 Tb SSD helps. I'm using an old Focusrite 8i6 first generation. Working on a release later this year with a friend of mine.

Awesome content! About your noise problem, the audio interface could be a contributing factor. But, cracking the preamp and power amp gain stages and then turning down the output of the plug-in will definitely give you more unwanted noise. This wouldn’t be unlike a real amp, you wouldn’t want to be in the same room with a cranked plexi for long. Could try setting the output gain to 0, getting your settings close to what you want and see where your output signal is and then adjust from there. May find you need less gain than you think!

Very useful thanks. Would it is it possible to do this say with a Boss ME80. The ME80 is mainly an effects box with one solitary cab. Would you advise I use the cab or not. Thanks.

Hey. Do you talk more about specifics of adjusting input levels in Logic Pro, somewhere? I've hit this stupid little problem. I'm sure it's simple, but I'm stuck. Any advice?

20:32 I dont know why but my guitar rig wont play the amp simulation. In order for me to hear the amp simulation, I have to record first than press play?? The only time I can hear the amp simulation playing with my stumming is when I open guitar rig on its own, but if I do it through logic, it wont.

Hello, how can I add the Guitar Rig plugin into my Logic Pro ? Greetings, Ray
@johndoremi38723 жыл бұрын
If you are duplicating tracks with GR5, that means that you are opening multiple GR5? or theres only one GR5 open playing in diferents tracks? (I just wanna know how to make guitarrs dubs with out opening so many RG5 intances.)
@xderiwx2 жыл бұрын
Awesome stuff! Quick question. After you record a track with a particular amp/pedal/EQ setup, can you go back and completely change out the amp and whatever you used to record that particular track? Also, after recording a track, can you duplicate it, like copy/paste? Thanks!
@steffanvale85892 жыл бұрын
Hello there, yes you can. I have the guitar rig 6 I bought after watching this! You can record your guitar direct into logic using an audio interface. You can change anything around at anytime, and copy down the channel, audio file, or both using the alt key. You could copy the audio and channel strip down, pan left and right, and change the rigs you've made. Recommended to play the audio twice and have different amps for a more interesting sound though and to avoid phasing issues or other funky problems that can arise from copy paste.

Dude I LOVE the old UI of Guitar Rig. It had that meaty feel like real world gear. The new "pretty" interface is garbage IMO. The other was tried and true. It worked. Pro-tools has never changed the format, and they are still the biggest, for now. They got it right out of the gate, just like the OG UI from Guitar Rig. PLUS I'm having issues with GR6 crashing Logic 10.7.7.... Don't know what's going on. Thanks for the video!

Holy shit that’s a lot of guitars! Any tips for a beginner like me on writing my own songs?
@JEEJ_MUSIC3 жыл бұрын
thanks! I would say the number one thing is not to take it too seriously, and don't be afraid to go super simple. The best thing that has helped keep me inspired and growing as an artist is having a catalog of songs built up that I can look back on to gauge my progress. Even if you think it's the same 3-chord tune that's been done a million times, you'll always be able to find a new little piece to add to it that makes it yours alone, and having a few songs written and done that you can compare your new work to will inspire confidence as you keep going. Another helpful skill to learn is knowing how to identify the specific parts of the music you love, and use those influences to help you in your writing. Take a key phrase from a lyric that really speaks to you and try to re-arrange the words a little bit, or write the rest of the song around those words but in a different context. Same with guitar riffs. If there's one little part of a chord change in a song that you really love, learn how to play just that part and use that as the basis for a new song. Even better yet, if you can take influence from two entirely different bands and fuse them together, you'll create something totally new that reminds you of some of your favorites, but is unique enough to not come across as a copy of someone else. Hope this helps you and isn't too "word-y". I would like to do a video talking about this sometime. Good luck and thanks for watching!

@@JEEJ_MUSIC Wow thanks! Nope not too wordy, in fact I think it’s super cool that you’d take the time to write something like that just for a nobody like me. Thanks so much, love your new music too!

What do I need to do with the interface so that when I play my guitar, the sounds effects (like guitar rig) are playing and not just the sound of the guitar with no effects at all? Hopefully that made sense.
@JEEJ_MUSIC3 жыл бұрын
Most simple interfaces have a knob on them that let you control the mix of your input signal and the playback signal. Since I’m doing all of my processing in the plugins and not using an amp, I have that knob set all the way to “playback”. That way I don’t hear any of the dry guitar input. Hopefully this helps!

Hi. Nice video. You spend the whole time talking about Amps, and noting about the basic-plug it in and set the Input/Output volumes like this. I am stuck in the mud. I can work out the bells and whistles later. I plug through the Interface into Logic Pro. I pick the first amp on the list. I'm not looking for a guitar sound. Just a ground zero understanding. Forums are useless. Unless you understand the Vocabulary written by the programers, Documentation might as well be in Sanskrit. Is there anything written in a 5th grade level for people who know absolutely nothing? Thanks

Good informative video, but I think you have to spill your beans about your signal routing here. For me nothing of this works without some fiddling around in the ’Environment’ in Logic. I can’t just drop an insert of Amp designer or Guitar Rig to a channel in Logic - it doesn’t process the incoming signal through these plugins when recording, just at playback from an already recorded piece of audio. So to achieve what you are doing in this video I have to go into the ’Environment’ and create an Auxillary channel and then put the plugins to that - then I get a signal processed through the plugins. And if I want to actually ’print’ the effected signal to the track I have to create an Input channel instead (and put the fx to that), also in the ’Environment’.

To be fair, this version of Logic is slightly older (10.4.8) so it is likely the process may have changed slightly. I’m currently getting ready to upgrade my Mac so I might make an updated version of this video once I start playing with the newest Logic update

@@JEEJ_MUSIC I have 10.5.1, and I'm amazed how much hazzle I had to go through to achieve this very basic action. And I can't at the moment see a good reason why Apple has gone all Windows 95 on this subject...
