Asalamualikum everyone. This is Lisa Zaynab Killinger. The video on “How I found Islam” was filmed so many years ago. (Maybe 20 years ago?) I am going to be 60 next year. I am the President of my local Muslim Community and am still encouraging people to love their faith, and to learn about the many blessings and rights given to women in Islam. Thank you for your kind comments. Also I was so horrified that my scarf had fallen so far back on my head. Since then I often do a quick scarf check before speaking! Many blessings to you all.

@rod of discipline There is a huge difference between FGM (female genital mutilation) and female circumcision. FGM is the removal of the clitoris, labia minora, and/or labia major. (the circumcision will be explained later below) 2. In Islam, FGM is a serious crime punishable by payment of the Diya (restitution), which is 100 camels or the equivalent in gold (between $25,000 to $80,000 according to the current prices!). 3. FGM is an African practice, not Islamic. The majority of Muslims around the world do not practice any form of it. It is very rare in North African countries, which have Muslim majorities, including Algeria, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia (only common among Sub-Saharan immigrants). The sole exception is Egypt because of the strong influence of African culture since time immemorial. It is almost non-existent in Central Arabia (the cradle of Wahhabism), Afghanistan (even during the time of the Taliban!), Pakistan, Bangladesh, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Turkey, Syria, Lebanon, Iran, or Iraq. 4. Female circumcision is different, and is permissible in Islam. It is also legal in all countries around the world, even in the USA! Female circumcision (also known as Hoodectomy or Clitoral Unhooding) is a minor surgical procedure to remove a small tissue from the surrounding area of the clitoris, which is medically called as the prepuce, or colloquially the "hood". The hood is homologous with the foreskin (equally called prepuce) in male genitals, and this procedure is analogous to male circumcision, which is also legal everywhere. 5. Female circumcision or Hoodectomy is done more commonly to allow women to experience heightened arousal, by reducing the tissue that forms the hood (Prepuce) covering the clitoris, almost always resulting in greater and faster orgasms. To some extent it has been suspected that excessive Prepuce tissue can also result in some hygiene- related issues as well for women, giving sanctuary to increased bacterial counts, and sometimes resulting in what are commonly termed “yeast” or vaginal infections from the close proximity to the vaginal canal. 6. Prophet Muhammad said to a woman who were performing this procedure: "If you circumcise do not mutilate, it would be enjoyable for the male and preferable for the female." 7. A number of religious works by the classical scholars of Islam have stressed on the necessity of removing only the prepuce of the clitoris and not any part of the organ itself.

@rod of discipline Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “and live with them honourably” [al-Nisa’ 4:19] Ibn Katheer said: i.e., speak kindly to them, treat them well and pay attention to your deeds and your appearance as much as you can; as you would like her to do for you, do the same for her. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): “And they (women) have rights (over their husbands as regards living expenses) similar (to those of their husbands) over them (as regards obedience and respect) to what is reasonable” [al-Baqarah 2:228] The Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: “The best of you is the one who is best towards his family; and I am the best of you towards my family.” Classed as saheeh by al-Albaani in al-Silsilah al-Saheehah, 285. end quote.

@rod of discipline Beat Them ? Where did u get that from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to discourage his followers from taking even this measure. He never hit any female, and he used to say that the best of men are those who do not hit their wives. In one hadith he expressed his extreme repulsion from this behavior and said, “How does anyone of you beat his wife as he beats the stallion camel and then embrace (sleep with) her?” (Al-Bukhari, English Translation, vol. 8, Hadith 68,

@rod of discipline Well u should look at these Ahadits aswell. Rights of Women are Inviolable `A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated, “The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “O Allah, I declare inviolable the rights of two weak ones: the orphans and women.” (An- Nasaa’i) Good Treatment with Wife Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported, “The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said, “A believer must not harm (his) believing woman; if he dislikes one of her characteristics, he will be pleased with another.” (Muslim) No Compulsion in Marriage Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “A woman who has been previously married (thayyib) has more right to her person than her guardian, and a virgin’s father must ask her consent from her, her consent being her silence.” (Muslim) Reward of Raising Children `A’ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported, “A woman came to me with her two daughters. She asked me (for charity) but she found nothing with me except one date-fruit, so I gave it to her. She accepted it and then divided it between her two daughters and herself ate nothing out of that. She then got up and went out. When the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) came in, and I narrated to him the story, he said, “He who is involved (in the responsibility) of (bringing up) daughters, and he is benevolent towards them, they would become protection for him against Hell-fire.” (Al-Bukhari and Muslim) Rights of Mothers Narrated Abu Hurairah, “A man came to Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) and said, “O Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him)! Who is more entitled to be treated with the best companionship by me?” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Your mother.” The man said. “Who is next?” The Prophet said, “Your mother.” The man further said, “Who is next?” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Your mother.” The man asked for the fourth time, “Who is next?” The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Your father.” (Al-Bukhari) Non-violence against Women `A’ishah (May Allah be pleased with her) reported that the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) never hit anything with his hand, neither a servant nor a woman, but of course he did fight in the Cause of Allah. (Muslim) Treating Women Gently The Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “The believers who show the most perfect faith are those who have the best morals, and the best of you are those who are the best to their wives.” (At-Tirmidhi) Care for Women’s Rights Jabir ibn `Abdullah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said, “Fear Allah concerning women! Verily you have taken them on the guarantee of Allah, and intercourse with them has been made lawful unto you by words of Allah.” (Muslim) Wife’s Rights Mu`awiyah ibn Haidah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported, “I asked Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him): “What right can any wife demand of her husband?” He replied, “You should give her food when you eat, clothe her when you clothe yourself, not strike her on the face, and do not revile her or separate from her except in the house”. (Abu Dawud) Loving One’s Wife Narrated `A’ishah, “I never felt so jealous of any wife of Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) as I did of Khadijah because Allah’s Messenger used to remember and praise her too often and because it was revealed to Allah’s Messenger (peace be upon him) that he should give her (Khadijah) the glad tidings of her having a palace of Qasab (hollowed pearls) in Paradise.”

@rod of discipline FGM Isn't In sharīʿah. Although female circumcision is not mandated, one tradition of disputed authenticity permits (but does not encourage) the removal of a minuscule segment of skin from the female prepuce, provided no harm is done: A woman used to perform circumcision in Medina [Madina]. The Prophet (peace be upon him) said to her: 'Do not cut severely as that is better for a woman and more desirable for a husband.' - Sunan Abu Dawud, Book 41, #5251. One does not want to make too much of this tradition, as it is classified as "weak" by Abu Dawud (the compiler) himself. Nonetheless, it clearly forbids severity in circumcision and bases such limitation on both the potential to harm the woman and the potential to make her less desirable to her husband. Yet, despite the restriction against severity, the Prophet did not here prohibit circumcision completely. Permitting such a ritual constitutes an act of tolerance by Islamic law for pre-Islamic practices, and may be overruled by the Islamic prohibition against harmful acts. Consider, for example, that Islamic law protects a woman's right to sexual enjoyment, as demonstrated by the fact that a woman has the right to divorce on the grounds that her husband does not provide sexual satisfaction. It follows that Islamic law prohibits clitorodectomy (partial or complete removal of the clitoris) or infibulations (excision of part or all of the external genitalia and stitching/narrowing of the vaginal opening), or any genital mutilation which impairs the woman's ability to enjoy sexual relations. Such prohibitions are consistent with the hadithic warning against severity in female circumcision. If the Islamic law does not mandate female genital mutilation and tolerates only the most mild form of circumcision (and that only if it produces no adverse effects in the child), then how does it come about that so many people from certain countries with large Muslim populations insist that savage acts which exceed these limits are not only permitted, but required by Islamic law? The answer becomes obvious when one realizes that Christians from many of these countries also insist that the tradition is mandated by their religion as well. People often confuse traditions rooted in local culture with religious requirements. And Ofcourse don't forget that Its a weak Hadith . And Don't Just Search 'Bad Things About Islam' on Google U Can Sometime Check 'Good Things Too' xD Peace Bro xD'

Although I am not a good Muslim but always pleased to see that non Muslims are embracing Islam at a rapid pace. The converted Muslims are better than me (than all the Muslims who are Muslim by birth) because they embrace/d Islam after understanding it. The converted Muslims observe the basic tenets of Islam more stringently in a peaceful, polite and decent manner. I say welcome to all convert Muslims. Equality is the hall mark of Islam.

People who accepts Islam should come to Pakistan Lahore Raiwind Markaz. Now many people ask why ? This is because even the arabs come to Pakistan to learn Arabic and Sharia. This Markaz is best suited to new muslims because here they do not teach u sharia instead they teach u how step by step u learn Islam.

@@garyshirinian brother you seem like a respectful individual and so im shocked you follow such individuals. They are hateful islamaphobes that make money through fear mongering. They are also straight up liars, as every well read muslim understands. I love and respect the likes of dr james white, william lane craig and so on. WHO IS GOD AND HOW DO YOU FIND HIM? If you are looking for answers to these questions, then read the following where Almighty God describes Himself: The Holy Qur'an [Chapter 112]: - Say, O Prophet, He is Allah, the only Lord, - Allah, the Eternal Refuge. - He neither begets nor is begotten, - Nor is there anyone like Him.

@@lionheart4552 John 14:16 And I will ask the Lord, and he will give you another advocate [next prophet or messenger, namely Mohammad SAW] to help you and be with you forever- Remember, the Greek language uses the same word for Lord and Father. So, whosoever did the Greek to Latin translation of the Bible used "Father" instead of "Lord." That is why everywhere in the Bible when Jesus AS talks about the Lord of the World, it was incorrectly translated to Father.

@@mohammadakhtar777 You did not complete the passage JOHN 14 -17 “If you love me, keep my commands. 16 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and BE WITH YOU FOREVER- 17 THE SPIRIT OF TRUTH. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for HE LIVES WITH YOU and will be IN YOU. # Is Muhammad with the disciples forever ? # Is Muhammad the Spirit of truth ? # Did Muhammad live with the disciples ? # Was Muhammad In the disciples ? The answer to the four questions is clearly NO. Muhammad is not living in the disciples forever as the Spirit of truth. This passage Is referring to the Holy Spirit.

@@mohammadakhtar777 The essential uses of the name of God the Father in the New Testament are : Theos (θεός the Greek term for God) Kyrios (i.e. Lord in Greek) Patēr (πατήρ i.e. Father in Greek). These are different words with different meaning depending on the context. This is very clear and unambiguous to Christians or anyone with a rudimentary understanding of the Holy Bible.

NO “ladies’HIJAB” found in the Quran. - (The word HIJAB is used in the Quran but NOT for ladies.) Check these Ayath/verses that they say have Hijab in them. (But not found) In Quran 33.59 - “ … JILBABs over themselves…” in Quran 24.31 - “… KHIMARs over the JAYBs..” The word is KHIMAR in the Quran.24.31 - Root Meaning of KHIMAR is just a COVERING, it can also be a neck scarf, any scarf, dupatta, chadar, etc. There is no head, hair, veil, niqab or any such importance in the Quran, They have SHIFTED the IMPORTANCE away from the JAYB Check the transliteration in Quran 24.31: “yadribna bi’Khumur’ihinna ala juyoob’ihinna” [Plurals : khumur, juyoob] // *..put-forth COVERINGs OVER THE JAYBs…*// KHIMAR = COVERING and JAYB just means OPENING - like an opening in a dress, deep-neck, like shirt pocket - is a jayb To verify JAYB from the Quran check this example in //Quran 28.32 (part) “…. yadaka fee jayb’ika …”. // “… put your hand in your Jayb..” (clearly a pocket or opening in the dress) (or) some people translate it as chest/ bosoms coz that’s where the Jayb is. Look at where the importance is in the verse: “COVERING over the Jayb” - but the EXPLANATIONS of ‘Sect’ /Firqa leaders promoted the concept of ladies’HIJAB - by adding it in books written much later after the Quran AND by adding words with brackets in translations and explanations - gradually shifting the importance of COVERING the Jayb - giving importance away from the Jayb seems like DISTRACTION from the main EMPHASIS. AND also - these Firqa leaders wrote the Dictionary centuries later to push their meanings - please ask them : when and who wrote the Dictionary that they show their meanings from? We should not accept new meanings to the words after the word is used in the Quran - in the present era the meanings can be understood by checking the same word usage within the Quran - see where the word is used again. QURAN is it’s own DICTIONARY within it - (by using the important words in other verses and locking the meanings). They should know when the same root word is used for khumur/intoxicants even then it’s used for “COVER” - - any KHUMUR /- intoxicant or alcohol COVERS the ability INSIDE THE MIND - - Please NOTE : khumur /intoxicants/ALCOHOL does NOT cover the HAIR or outer-head. How can a religion claiming to be for the whole world - promote desert clothing for far off freezing lands? They’re Spreading culture and calling it religion - They took the desert clothing that is needed in sand storms and called it religion OTHER religious groups were ALREADY wearing it in the desert. IF anyone wants TO FOLLOW WORDS OF ALLAH then they should verify with the Quran - coz every secondary source should match with the Quran AND they should not add words in translations. JILBAB: Means any decent OUTER CLOTHING worn above the under-garments - it’s plural is JALABIB The verse in the Quran 33.59 is about JILBAB - it’s about wearing outer clothing - where it also says that “they can be RECOGNISED and NOT HARASSED” So the condition is to be recognised : how will anyone RECOGNISE if you cover fully? - So avoid tight clothing - it’s really simple as per Quran. Wearing clothes that the security personnel and other people are scared of coz they cannot recognise the person inside - as a result you face difficulty and then that results in feeling harassed. Check the verse Q.33.59 below and remember that some translations or interpretations have added words in brackets - so look at Arabic /or word-to-word translation to VERIFY, yes VERIFY. “… alay’ihinna min jalabib’ihinna… “ (Plural-is JALABIB) //Quran 33.59 O Prophet! Ask your wives, daughters, and believing women to draw their JILBABs over themselves . In this way it is more likely that they will be RECOGNISED and not be HARASSED. And Allah is All-Forgiving, Most Merciful// -- Notice it’s only talking about properly covering themselves - there is NO emphasis on head, hair, face covering in this verse also. - Some of them will not VERIFY what is in the Quran - word by word. And you may get to see how they will jump to start calling IGNORANT and names to the person showing them the research.
