“Adore the Chanel bag we already have, instead of the bag that is in the Chanel store” - words of wisdom! Thank you so much, Eileen, for another helpful and inspiring video. Can’t agree more with your view on Instagram and social media - it is designed to make us feel that our lives are not enough, and that if we look like our favorite influencers and mimic their style, our lives will mimic theirs as well. I used to spend lots of money to have the same pieces as mu favorite Instagrammer, and as you’ve said, once I got one piece I was immediately busy looking forward to getting another. I’ve removed Instagram from my mobile phone and I have got so much more time now - and feel happier with what I already have. I’ve reduced internet consumption. But there’s something I won’t remove from my life - your KZbin channel 🥰🥰🥰. It’s so good to me! It makes me feel I’m in the right path now ♥️. Thanks again, have a wonderful week ahead!

I came across your channel years ago but I didn’t like it or subscribe. I felt that was just another consumerism channel making me to feel bad about not having all the Chanel handbags. Lately, I found your channel again in a completely new direction and theme. And I can feel that you are so much happier after adopting minimalism. Many KZbinrs keep buying things but all I can see from their eyes are emptiness and discontentment. I am so happy for you. I also came across minimalism 2.5 years ago. Even though I was not a shopaholic before then, I gained so much during this journey of minimalism. I adore the concept of curated wardrobe and a curated and small collection of luxury handbags. Mine handbag collection only contains 3 pieces from luxury brands and 2 frequently-used ones from middle-priced brands and a few occasional bags (like travel bag / baby bag). I am happy with my collection. I do admire new handbags but I don’t want to get them. When I want to get a new one, I sell one. We don’t need to have every beautiful piece in the world. And more importantly, we don’t want to work so hard to acquire and maintain them.

This was really good. I enjoy watching KZbin fashion videos mostly because they inspire me to use my existing pieces differently. Even something as simple as putting a favourite pendant on a different chain can completely change an outfit. I really enjoy hearing people ask if I am wearing a new outfit when I am wearing only one new piece and everything else is smoke and mirrors and I am a complete mixture of new, vintage and preloved.

I remember when I was little my mom had a beautiful black dress that she wore to parties with her pearls. Some of the other ladies criticized her because she wore it often. The truth was mom looked incredible in that dress rather than wearing something new that was a lesser quality like the others. Because my parents had lived in France they were accustomed to the French way of dressing. Where quality is valued over quantity. Mom always looked beautiful.

I had to giggle a bit watching this. You had featured a few outfits prior including the black jeans and lovely beige sweater. What did I immediately do--bought the sweater :-) I guess for me it's going to a one day at a time challenge. On the plus side, I completely adore the sweater, wear it regularly and will have it for a long time. Thank you for the taking the time to share your lifestyle because it truly does help many.

So many good points in this video. I recently took a harder dive into reducing my closet (it’s pretty small) and only keeping things I love. I have a few things I am testing and if I don’t continue to reach for them I will donate. I am down to 9 pair of shoes and I have made a list of what I want to replace when my current item wears out. I took the time yesterday to switch out a small wallet to a medium size wallet in my purse to fill in the space of the main bag I use. I wiped my bag with a very lightly damp cloth around the hardware and I made sure there was no lint or debris in the crease of the bag. I added everything back in and felt very grateful that I had made a good “sale” purchase on this bag. So for me really appreciating and caring for what I have makes me feel really good about my purchases. I can’t wait to say I am happy with everything in my closet. This is one of my most fulfilling journeys. Thank you for all of your insight ❤️❤️❤️

Hello Eileen. Long time watcher, finally a subby and now commenting. :-) Totally agree! I was a shopaholic, too. As I travelled abroad so often I always thought I should buy something that I can't buy in Korea or anything that is cheaper abroad. I learned minimalism while I was living in Manhattan for 2 years as I lived in a tiny 1 bedroom condominium. I had a very limited storage space. Sadly Iwent to too many sample sales and bought more than I needed. Now back in Korea, I realised how good it is to have a small closet only with items I love. I agree with you that I was also too busy to fully enjoy things I already. Thank god, I do now.

Hi Eileen, 👋 Great video and yes, I agree that we should buy responsibly and use it. I don't understand how satisfying decluttering videos are as I see it as a waste of money in the process of buying and selling other than the 3 top brands which one may recuperate most of the initial investment. The rest are lost in the process. But when one limits their collection to the 3 top brands to preserve the value, it's kinda boring. All of the same bags in a rainbow of colors. 😆I prefer buy what I would use, keep a couple for collector's items and buy more contemporary brands, focusing on designs rather than prices

A big part, for me, of finding a more minimal lifestyle was to separate my real life from my fantasy life I thought I wanted. I don’t go to trendy bars and restaurants, I don’t go to cocktail parties every weekend, and I don’t do tea with high society ladies. Once I quit buying for a life I don’t really live, my consumption went way down and my happiness went way up!

Eileen, you're not "Bored" with a small amount of Luxury Items, bc you've taken Control of the "Want" part of your Life & changed it into a "Practical Part" of Life! It's not "Practical" for ANY of us to have so much money tied up in "Things" that we don't even use, or may use so Seldomly! For instance a Chanel Bag could run £7-10k! That's "Want" but Practical says "I could remodel my Closet for that, or buy a Whole New Wardrobe of things I need to Wear Often!" That's not just Practical, it's taking Proper Control of your Life!

Outfit repeating is so normal to me it the thought of trying not to wear the same clothes over again would be strange. However. I think ”the minimalists” who are happyly wearing just ablack (or grey) T shirt in my opinion are just lazy dressers who don`t know how to dress better, and if they emphasize always wearing the same outfit, that is just pure arrogance.
