Thank you so much for this explanation of mooka! My problem was not going far enough with the "swirl", and just failing every attempt. Thanks!! 💜

I was so frustrated trying to do Mooka. Your video has saved me. Thanks so much. The pencil idea makes so much sense for these harder tangles.

I’ve taught myself Zentangle and couldn’t find a group or teacher. When I started aged 62 my pen control was nowhere near what it is now. I too had real problems at first with SOME patterns and yes....I confess I drew them in pencil till I’d got it right. ‘No Tangle police’ lol. Also the original tiles are bloody expensive at £14 for 20.... I have a small notebook in which I draw 7cm squares to practice and learn Tangles. I buy Artists tiles £4.99 for 75 from Amazon and put them in my ‘album’ dated so I can see my development AND improvements.

Thanks so much for this, Mooka is so beautiful and graceful and one that I have yet to master. But I will try it in pencil first on my practice sheets. I love Zentangle and the 'ZEN' part of it but, now I do not feel so bad that I am not the only one that has problems with some of the patterns. Thanks.

Thank you so much as this is so helpful! I really like your design and agree about using pencil and paper. I was struggling with how to end this tangle so you provided a much needed answer. I am subscribing.

I love your designs. I was confused though after reading the explanation in One ZenTangle a Day. It stresses that a Mooka tangle is one in which one’s pen (or pencil) never leaves the paper. But, as you say, there are no ZenTangle police. I had thought there might be some trick I was missing.
