Hey Amber! As a hairdresser, can i give you some advice? - - - Permanent or semi-permanent hair dye, and which volume developer - - -
 Your roots are darker than your desired colour, they are a natural black/dark brown which is a level 2 in hairdresser world. Your desired colour (the box dye one) is of a level 4, two shades lighter. Your colour is a 4.63 where 4 is the lightness level, and the decimals are the colour characters which make up the red burgundy colour.

For you to colour your roots, you need to colour them with a permanent hair dye and 20vol developer. Using 30vol will lighten up your hair to a level 5, which might be too light for your liking. You could water down your 30vol to a 20vol (look up ratios online).

 As your mids and ends have already been lightened to the correct shade with your permanent hair dye and 30vol, there is no need to use permanent hair dye on those parts. It will be unnecessary and will damage your hair in the end. Instead, use a semi-permanent hair dye on all previously dyed parts with a 10vol developer. - - - Why I wouldn’t recommend you to use box dye - - - 1. It is almost always permanent hair dye. Which wouldn’t be a problem for your roots, but.. the issue with box dye is that you have no idea what volume developer they add to the box. In your video, the box dye has barely lifted your roots, this because you need 20/30vol developer to dye your level 2 hair with a level 4 hair dye. My prediction is that this box dye has a lower developer, so you won’t be able to properly colour your regrowth with this product. 2. Girl… you have so much hair!!! You need several boxes of box dye to cover your whole head. It is definitely more affordable to buy the professional colours and mix it in with your developer. - - - Professional colour advice - - - For the regrowth:
Permanent hair dye l’oreal majirelle in e.g. colours 4.62, 4.65 with 20vol developer or 5.62. with 30vol developer.
For the previously coloured parts:
Semi-permanent hair dye l’oreal richesse in e.g. colours 4.62 with 10vol developer.

The red really suits you. I would ask you to consider going to a hairdresser to colour correct. There's a good reason why good hairdressers hate box dye because if you are going lighter the lightener can be too strong as they are trying to accommodate all hair colours. Watch Guy Tang he really breaks it down.

Being a dyed redhead myself I can say with certainty that it starts fading after some time. Normally it shouldn't fade that fast. But I think I know why it's happening in this case. If you keep dyeing on top of previous dye your hair will lose the ability to hold on to pigment. My hairdresser recommended only doing the regrowth and touching up the lengths with a colour mask. But it's just a tip, you do you girl 💋

yes red fades fast - I'm a natural red head but as I age my color is not popping anymore lol so I dye it and it's good for 2 weeks - what a bummer! LOL I actually avoid washing just to keep it more vibrant. You look gorgeous with this color 🔥😍 So Happy to see you again and congrats on your baby - nothing but love for you and yours!!

It's ok to wash as many times as you need. I recommend a good hair mask, like a color depositing hair mask, or a semi permanent color, in shower color depositing is best, so you never lose color again and can wash as you please, preferably in cold or lukewarm water.

Yes red does fade quickly. But to make it last longer and stop pushing your hairs cuticle and affecting the cortex so much... You need to drop down to a 10vol developer on the ends, you only need to deposit red tone, using 30 volume on your ends is lifting and opening the hairs cuticle unnecessarily and it will continue to fade faster as a result... Also when your roots are that long, you need to leave about a half inch off the scalp, apply to the rest of the dark and then go back in on the roots, because you are getting hot roots. Also bleach and 10vol would lift those dark patches, then go back in with colour and 10vol over them to deposit the red tones

You should look into color depositing conditioner. I use something called klenditioner or something. Then you don't have to use developer as much on your hair. That's how I refresh my red.

Please be careful with the box dyes. You might not be experiencing negative effects right now, but using it in the long term shows consequences. I don't know maybe it's just my experience but I'd really hate to see your hair dry out because of these box dyes. Fortunately you do moisturize your hair often with that amazing hair butter you created so I hope that prevents any potential damage! Love your vids! 💕💖

Hi Amber ! ♥ loving that hair color on you, but i can give you a tip for the next time, only use the 30 volume developper on your roots, because 30 vol is used to lighten the hair, since you natural color is close to black, you'll need to lighten the roots to get that red, BUT for your lenghts and ends, since it's already lighten, you will need to used a 10 vol developper with the red, so it can do it's job properly,, that's why your color if fading quickly ;) also i'm scared for that box dye cuz it will be a mess to correct your roots with precious box dye 🥲 good luck with that sis and have a beautiful day 💫

Make 2 batches of the haircolor if not its going to turn out uneven , the roots should use 30-40 volume developer so it can lift color , and 10 for the rest of the hair ,because you are putting 30 volume on already lighten hair it damages your hair , volume 10 is for color deposit . (Sorry english isn't my first language )

Your mids and ends are much darker because you're overlapping permanent color. Permanent is for the new growth only. You need to use a demi permanent for the rest to refresh the mids and ends. Otherwise, you will end up with too much dye load and over porous hair that will look black.
@Bloooooooooopp
@Bloooooooooopp Жыл бұрын
Yesss. I was going to say this. Permanent is damaging to keep overlapping. Not the best one for color refreshes.

You have a lot of banding. So what I suggest you do next time is have help. You’re going to have to even out all the dark spots. You’re always supposed to start from the bottom and then touch the roots afterwards to get an even job
@TheSweetSerenity7
@TheSweetSerenity7 Жыл бұрын
Definitely hard to achieve, some advice from a fellow red with natural curls who dyes at home, I reccomend loreal hi color instead, lifts better, try applying it on the darker areas first, let that sit for about 10-15 minutes and then do the rest minus roots and let sit for another 10 minutes, finally do the roots and leave for 30 minutes. After this, your color should be more even, and then you can maintain with color mask, color depositing conditioner, and semi permanent, which also doesn't damage hair. Also, when you apply, do smaller chunks and really melt it in with your hands. You also need a little more saturation, ensuring all strands are fully covered.Hope this helps!

Have you tried a henna treatment for strength? It also helps the red come out for me too. It's true that coloring your hair is fun. It really is for me. I just use chemicals that are good for my hair and natural products too. Because I'm a grown woman. 😆
@yacobeinauan9533
@yacobeinauan9533 Жыл бұрын
The reason the red shows up on your hair is because you mix it with 30 volume developer. Regular permanent dyes are usually mixed with 20 volume but if you use 30 volume developer it will lift the natural pigment in your hair whilst your hair is being dyed so that the red will be brighter and actually will show up. The reason why there are patches of your hair that are darker red or almost don’t look dyed is because your hair obviously doesn’t lift evenly since the midstrands and ends don’t retain heat like your roots do so the dye and developer can’t process properly. The lower the developer the less the red will do on natural dark hair. I also want to let you know that if you use red box dye it probably won’t show up on your virgin hair. Reason being that the developer is too low and its not strong enough to show up on dark hair. Maybe only in the sunlight.
