How I ended in Hopsital...

This week started pretty well with more wood harvest but ended on a strange note... We will give you more detail next week. But in the meantime, we hope you'll enjoy this bit of work on our Portuguese homestead and around the community.

That tree is surely a Hawthorn. It grows all over the UK, it's blossoms are known as May flowers, you can make wine with them.The berries are nutritive and have amazing medicinal properties. A syrup made from the fruit is sold as a herbal supplement for heart irregularity and high blood pressure. Syrup or jelly, the medicinal uses are the same. All you're doing is changing the mode of delivery. Hawthorn is used for lowering blood pressure, stabilizing irregular heartbeats and strengthening the heart.

I make a couple jars of hawthorn tincture for winter…good for heart and lungs…we also do honey garlic ferment…natural is God’s pharmacy…

The bramble berries, we know them as Blackberries, their seeds are a bit hard so we make bramble jelly, delicious. You can use the leaves for herbal tea.

Gosh, potato harvesting is back breaking work. OMG you both did so well. I feel sure that your neighbours would have appreciated your help. I love when peoples get together and help each other. Yes, I noticed that there was several different varieties of potatoes in the harvests. Pruning trees is always a big job. You will have a good stash of wood for winter. New chicks, so nice (Elroy leave them alone!!) Oh I loved that Mason was having the time of his life playing around in the potato fields. Another great video Sindy and Dan, you bring me a great deal of joy so thank you. Until next week I will be busy just like yourselves...............

Oh my… chickens from the neighbours brings back memories of my childhood on my parents farm. We also used to get chicks from a commercial hatchery to grow meat chicken. Love the village vibe where everyone gets involved at harvest time. One day you will need those beautiful people and they will be there for you. Cheers and love from Australia ❤️❤️

Guess you won't be picking up rocks, limbs and other items that caused that hernia. I was afraid of that. Hope it gets better soon. Don't know if they can heal themselves, usually surgery they can fix some of them. My husband had one that couldn't be fixed for various medical reasons. Those baby chicks are precious. Mason was curious of them, didn't act like he cared except wanted to smell them. Elroy on the other hand not so much. Those potato fields were huge. Loads of potatoes.
