After watching this video, I feel like sharing my story of reading hiatus. I have always loved reading books and used to read a lot when I was a child. But the last time I finished reading a whole book was sometime around 2011-12. Since then I have picked up many books but dropped them off in the middle because of some reason of the other. Chalchitra talks became a turning point in my life. I was fed up of my inability to complete a book and didn't want to be a person who just loved the 'idea of reading'. So, last month I decided to pick up a very short read - We should all be feminists by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichi. I came to know about it from Chalchitra Talks itself and I finally completed a book after 10 odd years. Even though the book was a very quick read, but the feeling of accomplishment and satisfaction which I got after completing it can't be expressed in words. Since then, I have read 2 more books and plan on keeping in touch with chalchitra talks community forever.. ❤️

This is such a good start to the channel. Helping people get out of the hiatus. I liked the point of keeping the book for later if you find it difficult to read it. Definitely helped me for my next hiatus.

I always loved reading, but of course due to work I somehow got away from the books. It was during the lockdown I got back to books. I had Norwegian book which I was trying to finish since 2months, I picked it up started from the beginning and finished it off. Took me good 5 days, because the pace was slow and I wasn't forcing myself, which was the whole idea for me. And the next read was Kafka on the shore a thick book I doubted to finish early, but to my surprise I did that in less than a week. So, yaayi...it is always about picking up the right book and also just the fact that you fall in love with reading....quite similar to what Disha went through. And to be honest, chalchitra was a lockdown discovery and loved it ever since! ❤️❤️

This takes me back to the reading slump I faced during my undergrad years. With the advent of pandemic, I dedicated my time to books (earlier I used to use up a lot of it watching movies). Quitting movies altogether for a period of 9 months helped me back to the being the reader I was in my school days. Binge-reading Agatha Christie thrillers helped me put an end to that hiatus and eventually I diversified my options. Its been 3 years and never have I been without a book. It's nothing to be proud of but certainly is something to be satisfied of.

Fully motivated to restart my consistent reading journey. Lockdown was the time my reading habit was at it peak, almost read 60 books a year. I have been reading on and off lately, not that passion and drive is missing. Also, I have been using phone a lot more these days. Time to break this loop. Loved the video.

Thanks for this video. I'm also stuck, unable to read. I thought Kindle would take my reading to the next level. However, it's the opposite. I guess I need to get back on reading physical books.

I also overcame my six-month-long reading hiatus recently, and I've found that children's books help tremendously. It was Roald Dahl's Matilda in my case. After that, I finished Sally Rooney's Normal People - highly recommended - and my reading has been well so far.
