How I figured out who THIS is.

The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom introduced us to a brand new character as depicted by a carving on a wall. Since the release of that trailer everyone has been wondering WHO could it be. Today, I've got the answer.

I love this theory because it makes perfect sense. Plus, to add on to the color aspect of things: BotW heavily featured blue in with the champions and shiekah, as well as being the story of Zelda awakening her power. Age of Calamity heavily featured red and the story of Ganon's terror and the rise of malice. And now here we are with Tears of the Kingdom, heavily featuring the color green, and a story featuring Link restoring the master sword and maybe secrets of the zonai.

I could maybe see if that particular Link in OoT's spiritual animal and his descendants would be wolves, while downfall's Link "spiritual animal" could be a bunny because of different ancestry but still a pure soul. @@megatrigger9996 The reason why Link turns into a bunny in the Dark World and a Wolf when exposed to Twilight is because they are they *not* the same thing. When a person enters the Dark World they turn into something which most reflect what's in their heart. Since Link was pure hearted and innocent the magic of the Dark World turned him into a bunny to represent said innocence. During the invasion of the Twilight into the Light Realm(Hyrule's World) due to the fact that Link was "the Hero" with a divine purpose and seemingly in possession of the Triforce of *Courage* to avoid becoming corrupted by the Twilight he transformed himself into a brave Wolf as a "defense mechanism" allowing him to remain in the physical world and help the Light Spirits return Light into Hyrule.

As mentioned in my comment, I wonder if this 'figure' is "The Goddess of Time"? Since Hylia could descend from a goddess into a mortal form, who's to say "The Goddess of Time" couldn't also be doing that here? (Or perhaps she had done that years ago, leading the Zonia)... That makes no sense. You don't have to be a god to reincarnate. Many religions believe in people reincarnating and it works in several different ways. We know why he reincarnates. Demise cast a curse to lock them in this cycle. It makes sense bc Magicka has a cost. In most myths and stories there has to be a way to break a curse in order to be able to cast it. The curse requires Link to also reincarnate and for there to be a chance of any future evil to loose or fail. He did this out of desperation as he had lost. But it is also strategic because knowledge is power and often Link is reborn without his memories of his past lives so he is at a disadvantage to most evils he faces as they are far more familiar with Hyrule and with the wider happenings. The main reason he tends to prevail is the massive amount of items and blessings he gets from all kinds of spirits and fae and deities and other people. I mean the theory is best but it is no necessary to be a deity to reincarnate and SS literally makes canon why he reincarnates. The real question is why does Epona and a few of the other repeat characters reincarnate? It is likely we know why or can guess but we don't know the story of how their reincarnation started.

I don't think the being in the mural is the Goddess of Time given how little evidence there is across the entire timeline to pair the 2 together. Considering the "spiritual" nature surrounding this god character as implied by their "Hand" serving as a permanent Seal on Ganondorf i believe this character to be a "God of Spirits" of some sort given the emphasis the color *green* has on anything relating to ghosts and spirits(the green flames surrounding the dead King Rhoam and 4 Champions plus the Luminous Stones).

It’s not logical at all… there’s a MASSIVE LEAP in this this theory that makes no sense. The connections to the zonai, fine, the connection from the logo and the dragons, fine but there is ZERO logic in assuming that the character (which has nothing to do with any of the previous comments) is the god/goddess of Courage. The creature holding hands with Zelda meaning that Zelda is “teaming up with link” is such a random, massive leap. Not that it’s not possible but it’s not logical at all. It’s not a bad theory, it could make sense for sure but it’s far from logically put together

@@ShinigamiShionZ tbh i see where your coming from, but in a way there is logic hidden behind everything, the zonai tribe being the wind tribe and all that, the floating islands, and the symbols, also back to the vaati thing before, have you noticed the eye symbols, they almost match up with the ones from vaati's forms, the the tear could be a hint to the sheikah tear and could be a link between vaati, sheikah, and the wind tribe, who knows maybe vaati has been ressurected somehow got access to sheikah tech took control and started casuing havoc, and caused the wind tribe to reawaken or sum, but there'a 0 logic with this theory but its a possibility, who knows maybe none of this is true and its just a completely new thing

Dunno if anyone mentioned but the character’s hand in the carving matches the green hand containing dehydrated Ganondorf. Really makes sense that if it’s connected to Faore that it joins with Link somehow and might actually be the creature containing the malice so-your goal is to unite them with Zelda again and find her after she falls by collecting the tears to restore her power. Most of the pieces fit when you look at the arms and yes the idea of the goddess being the same as that hand.

This theory could definately explain the "Meeting of lovers" translation on the logo. (See game over Jessie's channel on their translation livestream) The spirit of the hero and the blood of the goddess are meeting up again as seen on the carvings.

My mind is absolutely blown right now. I have never once considered the fact that we dont actually know link's connection to the triforce of courage like we know ganon and zelda's... If this is all true, I also theorise that TOTK will somehow perfectly end the demise's curse and have the timeline wrap back around to SS, like the ouroboros. Maybe something like a paradox Or maybe the events of zelda are so spread out that after so long history naturally comes full circle. This is also how I expect the timelines to remerge, After so long after the events of OOT, each timeline happens to lead to the exact same event happening in each, that being BOTW. Obviously the history going into BOTW is different, but given all the timelines share the curse of demise, they all naturally end up at the events of BOTW.

But if the circle starts with skyward sword but curse broken the story would never unfold and the skyloftians would never leave skyloft to being with. Kinda don't makes sense if the curse is broken but the circle repeats. Theoretically it must start again with the circle and the curse like a never ending nightmare.

Well at the beginning of the Zelda time-line there was no curse. Demise didn't curse everyone until after he was defeated. That means if the time-line does circle back on itself amd the end os the beginning then there would have to be a period of time after TotK where there is no curse. So Link and Zelda could break the curse, Zelda could died her humanity and reincarnate back into the goddess Hylia and then everything starts over and there's peace peace awhile until Demise comes after the triforce again. Although I suppose that means everyone will die and Hyrule and all the land will be destroyed so the other three goddesses can reshape the land.

I think this is very much along the lines of what I have been thinking, just better organized. I think the carvings tell of a past history. In every story there are the three: Link, Zelda, and Gannon. The woman appears to be a past Zelda (or Hylia), the creature (a past link or past Gannon). I think the woman probably dies in some way. The past Link (perhaps the creature in the carving) likely gives Himself to seal the past Gannon who is underground. That story ended in partial failure: Zelda likely died and Link gave himself to merely seal gannon. I think the story is restarted when the three come together again. New Link and New Zelda find old Gannon. The green hand is likely the remnant of a past link whose spirit force is no longer able to seal Gannon. It binds with Link and somehow helps him, much like how the skeleton warrior trains Link and helps him on twilight princess. So, this time new link and new zelda must finish off old gannon for good. I love your theory, but the main reason why I do not yet feel certain that the creature is a past link is because we do not yet have a color associated with him. But I say either a past link (who had long hair) or a past Gannon (who we KNOW had long hair because his skeleton body still does!).

As for Gannon/Ganon, most rational people would realize that it's a spelling issue... it's the same name. Though the Zelda series has changed the spelling, I actually still spell it the way that they did on the original Zelda before it was changed. And to be honest, I could really care less. Love this theory! Prediction: at the end of TOTK, Link & Zelda will be forced to bring up a big piece of the ground into the sky, effectively creating a new Skyloft. That might be true, it will probably go on that notion that time is not a straight line and that it instead is circular just like that movie "Arrival"! Things that happen in this game then becomes the creation story of skyward sword. Because that creation story of Skyward Sword must come from somewhere. SPOILERS for those who have not seen Arrival: The main character learn from aliens a way to alter the perception of time as linear and look at it as circular, explaining why the main charcter has unlocked memories from the future of her still unborn child and when this child dies of an uncureable illness, memories that the main character didn't understand because she in the present time had no children and no partner either for that matter.

I’ve commented before, in another theory video, how the shrine of courage looked like it was put in a snake or dragon’s mouth and how everything from the trailers had something related to the colour green. the Ouroboros symbol, the arm holding Ganondorf, the markings on the ground in the resent trailer when link landed on the bird like glider. the “tears” looking very similar to the jewel of the Kokiri from OoT. it’s nice to see someone else having the same idea

some things ive personally noted, if anyone finds them interesting; - the head dress combined with the figures eyes strongly resembles an owl. this could be a connection to kaepora gaebora, and by extension, the sage rauru. - the eyes of the figure(s) resemble an upside down shiekah eye, complete with the 3 triangles. possible connection with the yiga? - the eyes are familiarly stylized like the eye on the fused shadow from twilight princess, and the eyes of majoras mask - the art style is very similar to zonai and twili architecture

My theory so far has been that this is a member of the zonai tribe. Possibly a leader or maybe even an idolized member since the head dress looks ceremonial. My hope is that this person connects with the creators of majoras mask and the fused shadow

Majora's Mask was created by a "Dark Tribe" who only ever used for "hexing ritual" while the Fused Shadow was created by the Dark Interlopers for the specific purpose of breaking into the Sacred Realm to obtain the Triforce. There may be "dimensional" similarities between both factions yet there's no concrete evidence to suggest a direct correlation with eachother.

I always thought that it was a physical embodiment of Farore being the hero of time/courage of a previous time. You're spot o. With this and I'm glad someone else pucked up on this. I think you also shouldn't ignore how the blupees and Lord of the Mountain/Satori has a pretty similar look to the character in the carvings. They glow green and when the Lord of the Mountain is spawned there is a gathering there, while the mountain itself isn't that tall compared to other mountains, it still could be a connection to the sky, especially with the green beam of light coming from there during the event.

I think your theory has merit. However....there is one tiny potential snag. Do you remember the Historium book? It had a comic at the back that tells more of the story of where Link, Zelda and Ganondorf come from. It also explains Link's 'link' to the red loft wing. In that story there was a warrior named Link who sacrificed himself so the Hylians could escape to the sky. Hylia came back for him and it's then that Hylia declared she would shed her divinity. Then, later, in SS, Link meets Demise, and that's where the cycle of rebirth really starts for them. But, your theory could still full in those other loop holes we haven't seen filled yet.

The being in the mural looks nothing like the Fierce Deity to be him plus the Fierce Deity was a being strictly native to Termina as proven by his presence inside the Moon. It would be impossible for such an important god to suddenly leave Hyrule in order to be turned into a mask and then hidden inside Termina's Moon only to become normal again and return back to Hyrule to appear in the mural.

Ghirahim, vaati, the spirit bound then released from majoras mask, agonhim, these are all the same being imo. This is who we see in tears of the kingdom. A being set on reviving demise and hell bent on destuction. Who once had ties to the moon, sorcerry, the skies. Girahim not defeated but leaves at the end of skyward sword. The demon king of the ground world who kidnaps princesses for his sky fortress to obtain the light force which was last shown in BOTW ending. Someone who can spawn tribalistic demons and has strong ties to the shieka/young impa.

There's 2 versions of link we see ...a grizzled wild look and the BOTW look. I think the wild look is him after being sealed away. also i think i should mention, the character in question is 100% the green hand it has jewelry around its arm that the representation of zelda doesnt have so its not just a stylistic choice also it just makes sense

Convincing Theory! I think somewhere in the game Zelda and this figure are going to merge/fuse into one being. The green glyph on the plateau we see in the trailer shows a dragon head but flipped sideways we see a figure resembling Zelda. However some features are noticeably different. Her ears are longer and thinner than usual, just like the mysterious figure's ears. The zelda glyph even has those little attachments at the bottom of the ear just like the mysterious figure.(and imo her hair looks longer and more curled). I think a little detail supporting this theory could be that this fusion of zelda and the figure is represented as a dragon. And we know that the zonai represent the triforce of courage ad a dragon. This theory probably has some holes in it, and I'm willing to hear anyone's thoughts on why it may be wrong. Just thought I'd share this.

Haven't really heard this conclusion before, but it makes sense, and got me thinking! In OOT, Farore gives life to the land after it's shaped by Din. In BOTW and what we have of TOTK, we see green energy showing up in many different contexts, most of which having to do with souls, so we could say this green energy is Farore's life-giving essence, the sort of courage and drive to live. If it were Hylia, she wouldn't have this green hand, and it wouldn't make sense for Link to inherit it, while the Farore association is only logical. Link traditionally wears green, comes from the forest, and is the polar opposite to Ganon, just like green is the complementary color to red. It just makes so much sense. Would also explain the overwhelming presence of Zonai imagery in the trailers, and especially the latest one. I'd love to see some discussion surrounding this theory among the bigger Zelda channels. It's definitely one of the best I've heard so far

They built an army to go against Ganon/Ganondorf powered by blue flames (probably connected to wisdom.) It makes sense that they would try to build a hero as well that could fight in the place of human soldiers that could die easily (maybe using this green substance somehow). Just speculation but the mysterious figure might be the green figure we see in BOTW on the tapestry. It has red hair and a full green body. That doesn't match up with any incarnation of Link. In the end the Sheikah built Guardians and the Divine Beasts, it doesn't seem too far fetched for them to attempt to make a Hero/Warrior full of courage to fight.

The figure is seen joining hands with Zelda, and in that moment we see it has long, gnarly fingers. The same long gnarly fingers as the green hand. Whom we don't know. The figure in the carving is an original, yet unnamed character. With the joining tears above Zelda and them as well as the joined hands, we can assume that it may be a ruler of an ancient kingdom or tribe and there will be a union between the kingdoms. Tears will be a Mcguffin, but it will also represent the past inequality between the two and the present resolution and union to end Ganondorf's terror

I like the Theory and i’m not quite sure where exactly or if it is just in my head, but as far as from Link we know that he is courage because of his bravery from a knight (or a descendant of one) that choses to go and be the one (kinda a WW Link, in fact). And in terms of BotW even Zelda tells link that he’s just there because of his “duty” and his family heritage.

Well it's better than another Hylia theory. Personally I don't think this game is going to be focused on some kind of massive series-scale lore reveal like this, especially not about something on the entire opposite end of the timeline, and for me Hylia choosing him is enough reason for Link to be Link. But I do think you might be closer to the right track than most by focusing on the courage aspect; we had a game all about red malice and blue sheikah tech, and now a sequel with a whole lot of prominent green ghost energy(?) to complete the triad. I just think it's going to end up being a bunch of Zonai stuff that we can't possibly predict, rather than tying into elements from pre-BotW games.

This makes so much sense i just want it to be true. Like It would be so cool. Plus I love the idea that the arm that is connected to ganondorf's body is actually converting malice to the ancient energy. It takes courage to turn power into wisdom. that would be just cool as heck. i also think that it could make sense because we see sheikah tech that the hand is funneling energy into. so when the seal is broken, there's no more ancient energy, which could cause all of the sheikah structures across the land to retract back into the ground (which we know they can do). Plus, we hear zelda say that divine beast vah ruta stopped working, and this could be why. Maybe the seal has begun to break, which weakens the power of ancient energy. they find out the power has been weakening after they investigate vah ruta or the other divine beasts, and that's what leads them underground. Ahhhh I cannot wait for this game!

Hey Awesome, well done! I wish I had your in experience in video and theory crafting this time in order to share my thoughts as well. I agree with 90% of your points and I am just waiting in awe to play TotK. I you want i would like to know your thoughts regarding the orbs/"tears" orbiting around the suspected goddess of courage. My point and this is why your conclusion fits to my view is that BotW's Hyrule is influenced in large by the legacy of Zelda I and Zelda II. If this reveals to be true, the seven tears could be a parallel to Zelda I where Link has to collect the pieces of the triforce of courage. Nevertheless, My criticism on this is the following: if we focus on the symbolism of the trailer then why is the tear above the goddess during the scene with it and Zelda mirrored to the other tears? Anyway, i hope my English was good enough and I wish you a pleasant day!
