Thank you very much for sharing. It sounds like you were burned out there for a while. I hope that in future seasons you can get similar or better results with less effort. In my own experience, it's often good to disconnect from what you are doing once you have done all the studying/preparation. In the case of PTCG, it would mean that once the deck is locked in and the testing is done. You go to the movies, go out in nature, meet with your family, etc. Then you get a good night's sleep. Then you do the thing you prepared for.

Absolutely agree, I definitely tend to do way better once I've locked in and enjoy myself a little. I've been the same way in school with exams and I just failed to apply that this season in the way I wanted

love these break down videos, I also didn't really have the season I wanted. With school and other life stuff, but I still finished the season with 235 points. Next season might have to chase it harder.

Great content here and really appreciate the insight in the life and wallet of a competitive PTCG player! The deals you’re getting on accommodations this past season seem really key here, as lodging costs can be a x-factor depending on the venue location and time of travel. As a tall dude, I’m surprised you’re so comfortable and content with sleeping on couch! Glad that worked out so well! 😄 Do you think in a future video you can provide some insight on how you or your team decide what Pokémon deck to play in an upcoming regional, in general? Perhaps if it gives away too much, then could you discuss what you or your team did in a past season? Thanks!

Absolutely! I can definitely talk about how we as a group prepare and how I as an individual prepare as well!

Im very jealous of how many cups you played at , here without traveling 4h to go to one, the most I could attend this year was 5 😢 ( only went to 3 because of life stuff getting in the way) Great breakdown tho !

Very admirable how you can just admit times where you were mentally doing things you otherwise wouldn't have wanted to do etc., don't think a lot of people are good at just saying those sorts of things. I haven't properly tried to strongly compete in the TCG since I've been playing but am very interested in doing so for the upcoming season. The game is super fun for me and I'm enjoying the meta. Your content as well as others has also motivated me to get involved, so thank you for that! Question for you though, what are your thoughts on having a "main" deck you're super experienced in (sorta like how it sounds your group was comfortable with Tina)? I know ofcourse there's also meta calls and as expansions roll in and out, you will need to jump around a bit, but how far/comfortable do you think one should get with 1-2 decks? I'm enjoying Pult right now but ofc don't want to go 100% Pult, but also don't know if I should still pour a good amount of time into it to have as something reliable and solid to fallback on when you can't accurately make a meta call.

I think having a main deck is the objectively correct way to play, you become the best at your deck and have to worry less and less as you get more experienced. If I had a deck I enjoyed I would stick with it too, that was one of my biggest issues this season

Really like when you break it down. It makes good sense to see it on a spreadsheet.
