My lifted 2007 Honda Pilot has 315k miles and i still love it. JohnDZ Adventuring has a Passport lifted very similar to mine with 175k. Believe it or not there are quite a few of us familiar with lifting this platform When I interviewed Ben from HRG, he explained the ratio he follows for lifting Hondas and other unibody vehicles. Typically, he sticks to 1.5-2 inches of lift, plus a subframe drop for proper alignment. After taking measurements, I confirmed that our 4.5-inch lift is essentially equivalent to a 1.5-2 inch lift without the subframe spacers. While the body clearance increased significantly, the subframe clearance only went up by about 1.5-2 inches. It wasn’t until we added larger tires that we gained an additional 1.5 inches of ground clearance under the skid plate and subframe. Bringing our total to 3" over stock. The body lift is crucial for improving approach, departure, and breakover angles-one of the key challenges unibody vehicles face off-road. Overall, this lift isn’t as extreme as it sounds. The handling still feels great, and the smiles-per-gallon have definitely gone through the roof!

That looks fantastic!!!! On those clips on liner the secret is to push the center in to release.

Awesome work Aaron Gotter! Great job video documenting things. This was one of the first things I did to my 2019 Passport. The Toyota 4Runner guys were doing it (called a Body Mount Chop or “BMC”), so why couldn’t I? I figured my Honda Passport was going to be my Forever car, so I had no issues doing this. When I went for it, I took my sweet time. I had an idea of what to do, and coming from the Subaru community with vehicles of thinner stamped steel, they were using dremels, so….. I freakin did all the cutting with a dremel!!! You know how long that took??? 🤣, a really really long time, my video would have been 12 hours 😂. Yeah, a $19 harbor freight angle grinder is the way to go 🤣! Anyways, glad to have a fellow KZbin creating Honda Passport content. The platform still has a bright future, even though the all new model will be released soon. I told myself I wouldn’t do Imogene Pass ever again, but for you, I will 😃 ❤️

So, you cut out metal that did some boxing and structure efforts for the unibody vehicle, you DID NOT add any metal back in??????

Proceed at your own risk! Yes, I trimmed the chassis on the corners. I would re-enforce it If it was structurally necessary, but based on experience of JohnDZ and others, this mod doesn't have an impact on the structure of the vehicle. I am planning to seal it up better though.

It has vtec and torque vectoring, so on road it handles amazingly compared to a Jeep. Offroad the Jeep makes most offroad trials boring. Our Passport is always fun, offroad and on road! Smiles per gallon through the roof!

Yeah, I was pretty sure the community needed more details on what the mod look like. It wasn't too bad, and in all honesty a skilled welder could put a lot of it back if needed.

Oh man. Those new tires took up all of the available wheel well opening. They look good though. Just need to check the clearance in the front when the suspension is fully compressed and you're turning. If you can fit your hand in between the tire and fender liner, you should be good. You could try a heat gun and a block of wood to help reshape the fender liners if need be.

We will put the fitment to the test in two weeks at the AWD festival in Uwharrie National Forest! I can fix the spacing in the rear if it is an issue with adjustable control arms. Right now it isn't an issue.

New one has a 20.4:1 crawl ratio and more power! A huge improvement over our 2007 Pilot!

In fact my Pilot with a 1” drop has worse angles.
