aww that's a cute little mini rack. See ya in 10 years when you've taken over the entire garage lol. Remeber, ammo never goes down in price, always up. "Buy it cheap and stack it deep"!!

Because of weight (even if you don't max out the suggested limits) you may want to consider 1/4" sheets of particle board on top of the wire shelving to 'stiffen" it up. It will also increase the weight capacity of each self.

I throw desiccant packs in my ammo cans.
@markregan89074 жыл бұрын
J Mac I make sure to pull the desiccant packs once a year to dehydrate then so they do not lose their effectiveness - keep 'em dry!
@zachs6524 жыл бұрын
Mark Regan No need to do so. Once the oxygen absorbers are in the can, and you close it, it sucks all the moisture into the packs and stays that way until the can is opened again and air can get in. For long term food storage those silica gel packets can stay with food for over 25 years or 35 years untouched.

I like the shelf, only thing for me is that I do not stack my ammo can on top of each other, it tends to squish and ruin the rubber gaskets in the lid because of the weight pushing down on them.

Good idea, I did something resemblant. By the way, if you switch ammo from can x to can y, or decide to put some cartridge you own in a small amount here or there, you could try using regular masking tape and a pen to label the ammo types, it's not as tidy as those cool stickers your wife made, but it gets the job done :-) Cheers and thanks for the video! Ps- If you feel like doing videos on different, but related, subjects, I'd humbly recommend you to begin by thinking about what things you like the most. The surprise factor here will be when you notice that most gun-related videos are pretty much about the same thing, a new product review, or, gun maintenance/parts swapping. There aren't many videos on the satellite bits of the hobby, like this one you just made. Hope it helps!

I have about 6 of those shelves. Be sure to get a piece of plywood for the shelf or they will bust through the mesh. Trust me, the struggle is real.

I recently moved, it was a pain in the AZz. I had to conceal the ammo, didn’t want movers to know, had to take few thousand pounds of boxes, and labeled concrete, sand, lead. Told movers that the dry concrete was boxes expensive, made from crushed sea shells. It was loved safely along with my guns which I moved my self. Also a pain. Putting all my ammo in boxes and gorilla tape wasn’t cheap.

I have to do the same..I’ve been searching for the perfect shelving unit but it doesn’t exist lol.id love to find a big locker type unit with sturdy shelves that I could close the doors and lock but most aren’t good enough or don’t have enough shelves...I might have my friend make me one that is wide enough for maybe 5 ammo cans on each shelf and deep enough just to fit the cans so I don’t have excess shelf that I’m not using.id love to have it made where the shelves are tilted downwards to make it easier when grabbing the can.as you can see I’m obsessed with this lol.

Keep em covered, keep your vehicle in tip top shape(lights,tires,fresh oil, the whole 9) no bumper stickers or any other identifiers as to the kind of person you are, if you must stop for the night then stop in rural areas that are likely to have no criminals or anti 2a people. Abide by all traffic laws. Other than that, keep em dry and wrapped in blankets or something to keep them from getting banged up I reckon. I hope that helped?

how do you know you have enough ammo? Its when you start thinking how to figure out storing large quantities of it in a smaller space as much as possible. Oh and buying more cases/crates to keep up nicely organized and protected from the elements. Lol xD

You might want to consider well-built backyard shed for ammo. If your house catches on fire and the fire department shows up and they hear arounds detonating they will pull back and let your house burn down. The fire department can’t tell between rounds cooking off in a ammo can or around cooking off and the chamber of rifle which could be deadly. Ammunition kept in the house is kept in a fireproof safe.
@marcogram12165 жыл бұрын
They'll most likely arrive too late to save your house anyway. They're basically "slab savers" when it comes to residential homes.

The best way to tell if an ammo can has a functional seal is if you open it up and smell and you smell fresh paint that means that the seal is good I've seen cans that are rusted on the outside with a good seal still smell like fresh paint on the inside

I guess I'll see what it can hold long term. It's advertised at being able to hold the weight that is on it. I'll probably just monitor it for any bending or warping.
