I’m pretty sure this saying was around before Frank Ocean popularized it. My African dad used to say this and other African proverbs to me and my siblings all the time when we kids, and I’m 37. I’m glad he introduced this concept to a younger generation though.

You are a gem for every young woman and man. And even to a mature person like me. Your story is amazing. You seem to have made huge strides which would probably have occurred just with growth, but you really put bells and whistles on the journey! Just awesome. I’d love to hear your journey on your academic successes and your views on managing money! So sorry for the wounds you carried so many years! But grateful to God you learned how to cope and then some more! Blessings in your amazing future beloved! You have a lot to give. Don’t stop telling your story! I’m sure it was very motivating for so many to make changes in their lives. Blessings..😃😃😃😃🙏🏽🙏🏽

The "set goals and shut up" hit me so different. I have always felt like I do so well with my goal progression until the moment I start sharing small successes with everyone and trying to pull people along with me. This happens in so many instances, such as your weight loss journey, business goals, savings... I swear... it happens all the time. I said the next time I diet, I will keep it to myself. Thank you so much for the confirmation of my thought process on this.

Awesome tips Kim! As a Therapist/Coach, I always tell my clients that change requires change. If you want something different you have to DO something different. We are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds- Romans 12:2. The walls that we build to keep out pain also block us from experiencing joy. It's time to begin to tear down those walls and start living an authentic life... in peace :) Gratitude is key!!!

🗣Sis!!! When I tell you I needed to hear this LOUD & CLEAR right now… I know this was nothing by GOD and HIS timing. Thank you so much Kim with tears in my eyes. So many similarities in life and mindset and needing to make the major shift. There is so much here for me to unpack mentally, emotionally and spiritually! I will speak so much of this “pouring into others” while not actively elevating myself. And I know better. Thank you for the reality check. I just cashed it in… starting today 5.7.23. With love and gratitude! ❤️ GOD bless you and anyone else who needed this right now. 😌

I was 6 minutes into the video and had to stop. By the time I was 21 my Mother had passed away and my father was already re-married with another family. I was angry about my Mother passing away so young and the same year she passed I got pregnant with my first child. I have never really leaned on my family financially and I wish sometimes I had. I just walked into my kitchen and told my daughter that you so eloquently were speaking to my life. As TheBossyChickSix14 stated I NEEDED to hear this today 5/9/2023. I have dedicated my young years to husband(s) yes plural and family and my children often times putting myself last. Now I sit and wonder where has my life been and where am I going? But God, after listening to you so many things have been made clear, like a light finally turned on!!! Thank you for being so vulnerable and willing to share your story! God's continued Love and Blessings for you and your family and to those others that need to hear your story.

What you said about anxiety and gratitude not being able to co-exist.. and if you make a point of acknowledging gratitude several times a day it will combat/counteract your anxiety. This tip is powerful to me and I am going to practice it. Thank you for sharing. Your pass experiences have made you a wise young woman. Negative turned into positive. That's awesome👏🏾👍🏾

As for point 3 ... You wonder how you can be like the guy who opened the door for you... This video is you being like this guy. You used to hide behind "the wall" out od fear of being hurt, you avoided sharing the "deeper" info about your life, you have been on social media long enough to know that you can get hate for even a make up video. Still you decided to be vulnerable, you decided to share things which weren't easy for you, because you know this video could help someone. I can feel the warmth, positive vibes and honesty in you. You don't have to TRY to be like the door guy, you ARE the door guy. Thank you for this video

So spot on, I was so “woe is me” and fell into depression and was always angry and a dark cloud a few years ago, but I decided to change my mindset and victim mentality and I’m doing a lot better now. I have a more positive approach towards life, it’s very far from perfect , whatever perfect is but I always look to the positive, I have my down days but i don’t let myself stay there , but in my sober reflection I’m amazed at how far I’ve come and how I’m so much more than that dark cloud I used to be . Thank you for reminding me of these vital lessons 🙏🏾❤️

Your story is so inspiring to hear. I am a retired Family Crisis Therapist and I used to tell the families dealing with certain types of issues, not to allow their situations or their environments to define them. Set obtainable goals and do what you can to reach at least one of them. This includes a supportive support system of people. I am glad that you were able to turn things around and prosper. You are truly a blessing to those going through any type of situation. GOD Bless you! ❤

Kim, I’m so glad you decided to make this video. I felt the same as you growing up in terms of never feeling like I fit in and growing up in a single family household. I know in previous videos you mentioned Baltimore as your hometown. I’m also from Baltimore. I’ve tried so many things to upgrade my life such as going to college, getting my certifications, moving to multiple states trying to figure I where I belong, building my professional experience, etc. but it always seems like I come up short because those opportunities I went after just fell through. I feel like the economy is to blame. Things are so out of reach and so expensive nowadays; it’s so hard to build wealth, especially if you don’t have a talent, spouse, or resources to help you thrive. I feel like I did all the right things in my life. I went to school, I have a job, I never got in trouble with the law, I’m in good health, I have supportive family…all in all, I’m blessed, but I’m still struggling immensely! It’s hard out here in these streets! I just want to thank you for having the courage to be vulnerable on this platform. I feel you are extremely talented and have a lot to offer and I’m so glad you are sharing your story with us to elevate other people who may be having a hard time. Keep doing you and uplifting others! -Brandi

I need to keep being reminded that yes things were crappy but I'm an adult and I'm responsible for me. I would always back slide and nothing helped my soul except asking Jesus to forgive me for my sins and save me. I didn’t really know what true ❤ forgiveness, and peace was until then.

This video was everything I needed. I watched it yesterday and it really motivated me in a way I can’t explain. I literally been so all over the place with running a business, being a mom and partner, I tend to neglect myself and home. So immediately after this video, I got up and cleaned my house, got cute and just felt so much better. I’m here again today rewatching this video because it’s just that powerful for ME!! Thank you Kim! 🤎

This testimony is definitely going to help a lot of people. Thank you. I can relate to a few of the characteristics you described. Growing up in Baltimore city to a single mom, I felt different because I wasn’t doing what most of my family and friends were doing, so that made me the odd one. But thank God I knew better. Keep proving positive Light. Peace and Blessings.

I saw this on my recommendations and this really resonated with me. i’m also a middle child, and i’ve always felt very out of place, average, etc. and in a way i still do. due to different experiences throughout my life, i’m hesitant to make friends, i’m aloof, and its ruining my life. i’m starting therapy tomorrow, and i’m really excited to take what i learn there as well as what i learned in this video to use.

I’ve been following you for years and I fell off from watching your videos simply because I stay off of social platforms, but I’m appreciative of you sharing some of your story and inspirations. I can relate to soooo much that you’ve said and since I made certain changes in life I also began to thrive. Not exactly where I want to be but I’m getting there. Keep doing your thing beautiful!❤

This video even got me emotional because I’m a single mom too, however I didn’t have a support group of people even from my ex husband. So I had to learn to wing it on my own and I had to fake it speech to myself. However your video has helped me to get on track in my life. Keep up these inspirational pep talks. I greatly appreciate it

The thing I love about this woman is that she's not scared to speak her real. Never knowing who it will impact who have also walked similar lives. I knew it was more then just hair and makeup. Thank you Sis for sharing and inspiring others to not be afraid just to speak on there truth. And you are extraordinary beautiful ❤️ past pretty chic. When people be grimey to you it's because they knew you were one of the amazing ones. Some can be so hateful because they hate there self.....Thank you❤️👑♀️💪🏾❤️😘

Whew... THIS! We have some similarities and it feels so good to be honest with yourself, truly become self-aware, and make real changes! It releases weight and you just feel free. I started following you because of your butterfly locs tutorial. I thought you were gorgeous and just felt a "glow" about you. And, you made me feel like I could do that to my own hair if I just try. (I still haven't done it, but it's on my list!) 😆 Now hearing your story, I see that you truly are beautiful inside and out!

Hi, I have been following you and oh my God today was just amazing. He gave me a lot to think about. He gave me hope for myself. Thank God for people like you young lady I am 56 years old but today you just made me feel like I was a newborn and getting ready to start my life over again, I’m so happy for you that you have overcome all your obstacles in life and now that I see that is hope for me too at the age of 56 you’re never too old to learn I would never have admitted this to anybody, but I’m not ashamed to admit it to you that you taught me somethingand I know you’re much younger than I am. Thank you so much. I’m trying to get your cookbook and how to start my new life with plant base. May God continue to bless you and your family.😢❤

Thank you for being so transparent. I too, acted 1000% the way you described yourself. The majority of my anger came from childhood trauma. I was the most evil, hateful person that you can ever come across. I didn’t believe love existed, and hated “humans”. I made my positive shift in my late 40s, I’m 50 now, and I feel so much peace. It was a long, long journey but I am still a work in progress. I am HEALING, not HEALED. Therapy is key for me. Thank you for sharing 🤍🤍

Thank you so much Kim❤
