I’m pretty sure this saying was around before Frank Ocean popularized it. My African dad used to say this and other African proverbs to me and my siblings all the time when we kids, and I’m 37. I’m glad he introduced this concept to a younger generation though.

You are a gem for every young woman and man. And even to a mature person like me. Your story is amazing. You seem to have made huge strides which would probably have occurred just with growth, but you really put bells and whistles on the journey! Just awesome. I’d love to hear your journey on your academic successes and your views on managing money! So sorry for the wounds you carried so many years! But grateful to God you learned how to cope and then some more! Blessings in your amazing future beloved! You have a lot to give. Don’t stop telling your story! I’m sure it was very motivating for so many to make changes in their lives. Blessings..😃😃😃😃🙏🏽🙏🏽

The "set goals and shut up" hit me so different. I have always felt like I do so well with my goal progression until the moment I start sharing small successes with everyone and trying to pull people along with me. This happens in so many instances, such as your weight loss journey, business goals, savings... I swear... it happens all the time. I said the next time I diet, I will keep it to myself. Thank you so much for the confirmation of my thought process on this.

🗣Sis!!! When I tell you I needed to hear this LOUD & CLEAR right now… I know this was nothing by GOD and HIS timing. Thank you so much Kim with tears in my eyes. So many similarities in life and mindset and needing to make the major shift. There is so much here for me to unpack mentally, emotionally and spiritually! I will speak so much of this “pouring into others” while not actively elevating myself. And I know better. Thank you for the reality check. I just cashed it in… starting today 5.7.23. With love and gratitude! ❤️ GOD bless you and anyone else who needed this right now. 😌

I was 6 minutes into the video and had to stop. By the time I was 21 my Mother had passed away and my father was already re-married with another family. I was angry about my Mother passing away so young and the same year she passed I got pregnant with my first child. I have never really leaned on my family financially and I wish sometimes I had. I just walked into my kitchen and told my daughter that you so eloquently were speaking to my life. As TheBossyChickSix14 stated I NEEDED to hear this today 5/9/2023. I have dedicated my young years to husband(s) yes plural and family and my children often times putting myself last. Now I sit and wonder where has my life been and where am I going? But God, after listening to you so many things have been made clear, like a light finally turned on!!! Thank you for being so vulnerable and willing to share your story! God's continued Love and Blessings for you and your family and to those others that need to hear your story.

What you said about anxiety and gratitude not being able to co-exist.. and if you make a point of acknowledging gratitude several times a day it will combat/counteract your anxiety. This tip is powerful to me and I am going to practice it. Thank you for sharing. Your pass experiences have made you a wise young woman. Negative turned into positive. That's awesome👏🏾👍🏾

Awesome tips Kim! As a Therapist/Coach, I always tell my clients that change requires change. If you want something different you have to DO something different. We are to be transformed by the renewing of our minds- Romans 12:2. The walls that we build to keep out pain also block us from experiencing joy. It's time to begin to tear down those walls and start living an authentic life... in peace :) Gratitude is key!!!

As for point 3 ... You wonder how you can be like the guy who opened the door for you... This video is you being like this guy. You used to hide behind "the wall" out od fear of being hurt, you avoided sharing the "deeper" info about your life, you have been on social media long enough to know that you can get hate for even a make up video. Still you decided to be vulnerable, you decided to share things which weren't easy for you, because you know this video could help someone. I can feel the warmth, positive vibes and honesty in you. You don't have to TRY to be like the door guy, you ARE the door guy. Thank you for this video

So spot on, I was so “woe is me” and fell into depression and was always angry and a dark cloud a few years ago, but I decided to change my mindset and victim mentality and I’m doing a lot better now. I have a more positive approach towards life, it’s very far from perfect , whatever perfect is but I always look to the positive, I have my down days but i don’t let myself stay there , but in my sober reflection I’m amazed at how far I’ve come and how I’m so much more than that dark cloud I used to be . Thank you for reminding me of these vital lessons 🙏🏾❤️

You should Google what the affects are on daughters who grow up without fathers. I’ve only met my dad once at the age 19 and he got mad I didn’t know who he was and me and him literally were fist fighting in the grocery store 😮 growing up without a father as a girl can lead to early sexual activity, ✔️, teen pregnancy, ✔️, depression and anxiety, ✔️ and substance abuse. I teach my kids this because now I’m a single mom with daughters and I refuse for them to be the statistic. ❤

I am a retired Family Crisis Therapist and I used to tell the families dealing with certain types of issues, not to allow their situations or their environments to define them. I so needed this. Scared of big (but positive) life changes coming. Moving to a new state, trying to figure out student debt, still gotta go to grad school, helping bfs parents pay rent while I stay with them...I feel so inexperienced and worried. I grew up in a dysfunctional household and have been having some issues with trauma resurfacing. I keep saying my parents this, my parents that. I need to keep being reminded that yes things were crappy but I'm an adult and I'm responsible for me. I can fix myself and work through the trauma to start healing BUT I also have to stop with the momma and daddy blaming. Got dealt a crappy hand of cards but it's my job to win the game 🙌 Thank you ❤

Kim, I’m so glad you decided to make this video. I felt the same as you growing up in terms of never feeling like I fit in and growing up in a single family household. I know in previous videos you mentioned Baltimore as your hometown. I’m also from Baltimore. I’ve tried so many things to upgrade my life such as going to college, getting my certifications, moving to multiple states trying to figure I where I belong, building my professional experience, etc. but it always seems like I come up short because those opportunities I went after just fell through. I feel like the economy is to blame. Things are so out of reach and so expensive nowadays; it’s so hard to build wealth, especially if you don’t have a talent, spouse, or resources to help you thrive. I feel like I did all the right things in my life. I went to school, I have a job, I never got in trouble with the law, I’m in good health, I have supportive family…all in all, I’m blessed, but I’m still struggling immensely! It’s hard out here in these streets! I just want to thank you for having the courage to be vulnerable on this platform. I feel you are extremely talented and have a lot to offer and I’m so glad you are sharing your story with us to elevate other people who may be having a hard time. Keep doing you and uplifting others! -Brandi

I think this is my favorite video you ever made. Thanks for being so transparent and offering this phenomenal advice. Can you create a video on how to find yourself again after becoming a mom. I know you touched on this briefly in that same vlog clip you showed us but would love a separate video on it’s own. Just about self-care, elevating your style and just finding overall balance when you have young kids.

And this is why I continue to support your channel. You and I are like minded and I promised myself to embrace more people who are like minded instead of allowing these energy vampire to drain me with their foolery. I am always open to a good read. So thanks a lot for those two recommendations doll💝 Be well and be proud of yourself because not everyone can look in the mirror and make the shift.🏆 GREAT JOB DOLL

Kim, I had to rewatch this more than once because at some point a I couldn’t stop seeing myself. It brought me to tears as a mom and as a woman as well. Every single word you shared resonated. What I sincerely appreciate is your opening up to be intentional with your platform to help others like you….ME! You are truly a beautiful person and it truly shows. The inner work shows. Thank you so much Kim❤

Kim, this is what I’ve been waiting for! I’ve been watching your videos for years but this year has been the first where I feel a deeper connection with you. The timing was everything for this video. I feel I hit rock bottom almost like an identical crisis. Everything I just knew I was did not happen. Financially, physically and emotional torn; my head is just above water to get through most days. All this to say, thank you for share and for your timing. I hope to see more personal videos in the future ❤

Thank you Kim for your transparency and letting us in on some of your life. I can relate to you and I use to read self help books, eat right, do yoga, etc.. Things would look good from the outside and there would be good changes but, nothing permanent. I would always back slide and nothing helped my soul except asking Jesus to forgive me for my sins and save me. I didn’t really know what true ❤ forgiveness, and peace was until then.

woman, I've watched your videos for awhile, but honestly, I did click on this particular video because I was NOSY about your personal life,😜 but after listening to you, you touched something in me and I know I must make a change, and it is difficult because all the behaviors have become a lifestyle, but I know in my heart I need to take ownership of my life for sure. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you for sharing.

This video was everything I needed. I watched it yesterday and it really motivated me in a way I can’t explain. I literally been so all over the place with running a business, being a mom and partner, I tend to neglect myself and home. So immediately after this video, I got up and cleaned my house, got cute and just felt so much better. I’m here again today rewatching this video because it’s just that powerful for ME!! Thank you Kim! 🤎

This testimony is definitely going to help a lot of people. Thank you. I can relate to a few of the characteristics you described. Growing up in Baltimore city to a single mom, I felt different because I wasn’t doing what most of my family and friends were doing, so that made me the odd one. But thank God I knew better. Keep proving positive Light. Peace and Blessings.
