I was terminated from my job on May 1st of this year, since then I have lost 33lbs, stop drinking, become less aggressive, and treated my severe anxiety and depression disorder. God knew what he was doing, I feel 1000 times better. Plus I started a new job 3 days after I lost my old one. Life goes on.

Kim I quit my job back in June. My only regret was not doing it sooner. I was hired under false pretenses. They didn’t give me all the details of the job. Then my dog passed away and my life started spiraling out of control. My managers became less patient and rude. I was under so much stress. I finally chose ME ! 😊Thanking God for all his provisions

I always don't take it personal whenever someone quits their job. We all have needs and our health, mental health and family is important. We are all replaceable at jobs. I used to work a lot of overtime. But now, I get tired just thinking about working overtime. 😅 I'm at a different season in my life where I am focusing on what's more important to me. Self care, healing and living my best life. I try to stay at jobs as long as I can tolerate. But once I've had enough and it has become unbearable I leave. My aunt told me something that stuck to me about working. She said "Girl live your life. It's too many jobs and opportunities out here to make money. So much money to be made; to be feeling stuck at a job"

Hi Kim, I worked in Corporate America for 7 years. I launched my event planner business in July. I decided to take a leap of faith and resign back in October. I was so overwhelmed by the job. It was very stressful because of the people, the racism, the favoritism. It's like no matter how hard I worked, or how good I was in my role, I was always denied a promotion and constantly told I was not good enough. This entire month I can say am a better wife, a better mother, and a better (grad) student. I thank you for this video because I know the decision I made was not in vain. You are so inspirational.

I say it at least once a week, managing adults is like constantly getting middle school students in order. It's crazy! I've been in management for about 15 years and I agree with everything you've mentioned. The job I've had minimal stress was when I worked at Kelloggs in the warehouse while in college. Honey, being on my forklift/tow motor, loading trucks, minding my business, and laughing at the old people jokes, was the life 😆 Great tips. Thanks for sharing.

I was just telling my husband this, how I was so much happier when I worked menial jobs like doing back stock at a department store. Now that I work in leadership (education), I am so miserable dealing with such overgrown children. Before I was in leadership I was a teacher and although it was challenging, it wasn't nearly as draining as managing adults smh

I hear this all the time...the thing is, a lot of adults have not grown up yet, which is the problem...I couldn't imagine being a manager because at the level I am at now, I can't stand my coworkers...I only had one job where I really enjoyed working with my coworkers, but then everyone quit, and we got new staff that sucked...

It limits how much house you can afford, it limits how much you can go on vacations, it limits spending 2 hours at lunch with friends, when your schedule is 8-5 they still expect you to be there at 8 even in BAD weather!

I’m feeling unmotivated and drag myself into work like you spoke about now. On the outside looking in, I have a “good” job. However, we are severely underpaid for the stress we face there, and I’ve never been so depressed and anxious in my life. I don’t even make enough to save (rapidly that is). Bills are drowning me, and I just feel like I’m in quicksand. Everyday I want to quit, but I know I can’t. I’ll definitely be homeless if I do. So I try to stick it through, but each day is a TASK. Worst part about all of this is, I don’t even know what my passion is. I’m praying for anyone who feels this way. It’s mentally draining.

I feel like dropping my passion here. So, I've been into writing screenplays for years. I kinda stopped and started so many times but I can honestly say, I have written 3 full feature films and 2 tv scripts. The first one, even though it was copyrighted, was stolen. Unfortunately, you can't copyright a concept. Nevertheless, last year I took it seriously again and I'm investing in getting it off the ground for real. I know it's a long shot but the resources are much better now than when I first started. I honestly feel like next year, I'll be living my dream.

Your career path is very similar to mine. I started out with majoring in business management but niched down to accounting. I went into the management trainee program at my 9 to 5, which allowed me to become division audit manager/financial analyst later on. That would open the doors to people, events, and activities that I didn't come from. I too started to get unmotivated after years there. My shift change was when I had my daughter. Being a mom sometimes changes your perspective of your career goals. Now I'm on a complete opposite end of the spectrum. I own a bakery now. It allows me to have the freedom to be a mom, work, and live my life on my own terms. I was able to monetize my youtube channel last year. I've had a creative block this year, but this video is motivating me to get back to it 💙

This video was exactly what I needed, so far today I've come across two confirmations videos. I have been feeling so burnt out and unmotivated in the field I am in, I've been working in healthcare since my baby was almost one. She is now almost 12, and I am over it, and throw the pandemic in top of that I am really done. I enjoy so many things and find myself trying to dabble in everything all at once, so I am overwhelming myself with not knowing what my first move should be. But you are 1000% correct, if we want a better quality of life then we need to also have standards in those areas of our lives as well. I've settling and procrastinating with moving on, out of comfort to what I've known for so long and fear. But nope, not anymore I will be making some major moves in the coming months to set myself and my baby up for the rest of our lives. It's never too late to change careers and really do what you want to do. There is so much in the world I would love to see and show her, being at a 9-5 unhappy every damn day is not it.

Happy Sunday everyone! Recently my manager told me I need to find a job that makes me happy. They said I come in on time, I’m dressed appropriately, I do good work, I communicate if I need time off or if something came up at home etc etc. Then they told me I’m “too quiet”. Soft firing. I’m not social enough. Coming in work to work and go home isn’t enough for them. So they are giving me a certain amount of time to find something other. I’ve been in a really low place since then. I’m tired of working for corporate America. I’d rather work for myself I just don’t know how to go about it . Your video and others like it have been popping up more and more. I have been in this exact same place. I am still this way. I explained to my boss that I am from a big family and talk when necessary. So from my perspective, being BW in certain spaces I do my work, observe and I can promise you that in my role, I know more things that are getting ready to brew because I stay out of the way. I also told my boss, I was raised that I go to work to and not to make friends. He was shocked! I said yes because if it came down to them or me when it came saving the job, they will fight for themselves. He understood my point and said but we are family and I followed up with "no, we work under the same values with one common goal." It bothers people when you don't get involved in mess. Find something that gives you your angel wings of freedom because being punished for not engaging outside of work related things is a form harassment. I'm praying that you find something soon.

Kim this was really good! I remember following you for your thrifting videos. I loved how you transformed thrifted finds into one of kind pieces. You have and are continuing to evolve and l'm so happy for you. I'm a Military veteran and l've been working for the Federal government for over 20 years. Though l've had the opportunity to live abroad and work in different environments and areas, l was finding myself at a cross roads every couple of years until began working for another Federal agancy. I can actually say that l really enjoy my career again. I'm looking forward to retiring early in the next few years and actually doing what l love.

I appreciate you so much. I already related to you because we have the same hair and skin type. Now, hearing your career journey resembles so much of mine from business degree to the burn out of 8-5 corporate America. I quit my job back in March and I've felt so much relief since. My other stream of income is sustaining me until I figure out some things and God opens the next door.

This video was exactly what I needed. You know how your're sitting in church and you feel like the pastor is talking directly to you; this is how I felt with this video. I have always wanted to start a channel but felt like I was too old but hey, I'm taking a chance and doing it. It really hit home when you said working corporate america and not being able to enjoy life until your too old to do it sort of speak. This is exactly how I feel, I work in corporate america but I want to be able to enjoy it while I still can. Thanks for pushing me. I have been enjoying your channel for years, keep up the good work and congratulations on your continued success.

I am so glad that you did a video on this topic. I have been following you for many years now. But about a year ago I resigned from my job after being there for 18 years. I felt so much relief and doing so was great. But now sometimes I have to fight against my own ego telling me what a mistake I made. Who knew that I was going to feel so much pressure and have so many blocks and challenges of trying to walk in the path that I was called to do. You have inspired me to keep going to see what the end is going to be 😍❤❤‍🔥💯

Thank u Kim for Always encouraging Individuals to Live their Lives, especially Young Women. I agree totally. I Did the same thing, and Now I can Truly say, although it seem Far from the Norm, this is the way it Suppose to be. Nothing is more Satisfying than doing what u want and Feeling good about ur choices. I think this is why so many people r so Unhappy about what they do is because they soon realize that they r out of Sync with their Reality. I Appreciate u Always being so Open and Honest about Real Situations vs Reality. Thank u so much for being so Down to Earth, facing Reality by thinking of one yourself being Happy and the Path u r Continually setting for ur Children. I luv it, and Keep it Pushing, U Rock!

I feel you on so many levels. I graduated nursing school in 2018 & QUIT the field ENTIRELY by 2020. I quit with bills due & a son to raise. My mom would say “you’re a nurse you need to go back to nursing”. I would respond to her with sarcasm but seriously with “Am I a nurse? Maybe maybe not. But I can tell you I AM NOT dealing with these facilities with their bad delegation, horrible decisions, under staffing issues and any other bs that goes against my morals”. Still this day she says “you need to go back to nursing”. I am a human being and a millennial-I DO NOT SETTLE FOR LESS BECAUSE I DESERVE MORE.

How are you doing ever since you quit? Once upon a time I was a teacher and quit with bills and my mother said the same thing “go back to teaching” but it was extremely stressful for me and I knew I could work with you just not in the classroom. I spent three years unemployed and went back to college to get a degree in counseling. I have been much happier. You have to do what’s right for you.
