What in the alt-right history is this? I actually really enjoy the idea of modern day campaigns, one of my all time favorites that I played was a Red Dawn style GURPS game where we built ourselves as characters and wolvered all over the red devils that decided to invade. It was a blast. What it didn’t have was my little insurgent group aligned with nazis…

Portugal invading and conquering Brazil is a massive red flag in and of itself. Brazil used to be Portugal's India in the sense that it was the most prized colonial possession. Then the Portuguese royal court fled to Brazil to escape from Napoleon, and then.... things get complicated. Also, even after Brazil became an independent nation, it was one of the largest and last slave economies in the Americas. So that's a lot of yikes right there.

Okay wow, not splitting up Mexico and Canada along the lines of their individual states, provinces, and territories is a bit stupid or uninformed. Along with the whole "Biden's a wet paper tiger -> US coup" plotline since I'm fairly certain that Mexico would not invade, we would not invade Canada, Biden wouldn't just lie down, and I'm pretty sure the military would go down the line of succession instead of going to Trump. Then again, this is something on the internet and it just sounds cartoonishly stereotyped. Maybe false.

Sounds like a hearts of iron campaign to me. nothing wrong with that. As far as my own personal games. All mine that take place in modern times use systems like mutants and masterminds or icons (which is my favorite) and are always comic book games. I have run D&D campaigns that had brief forays into the future or to "the real world" just to shake things up from time to time, but i don't know if i could run a whole D&D campaign set in modern times. It's not really made to handle that.

I wouldn't play the game personally. This narrative is only from one perspective. I see the starting point of an alien invasion as "We can go off the rails now." Throw in some crazy stuff instead of the trope of " Everyone unites against the aliens. " The source was a bit heavy on the military discipline in a civilian rpg which made me roll my eyes.

I mean, a number of those things are from DLC as opposed to mods (Portugal uniting with Brazil for instance). Much of the rest is typical Terra Invicta stuff, which starts with the russian invasion. I remember Perun, a well respected youtuber, doing a campaign where he had America invade Ukraine on behalf of russia just because it was convenient for Perun's plans to keep nukes out of Alien hands.
