Didnt you just created security hole to your house? First important thing is that you installed it outside of the house and set up automation that if is open for some time, the bot will click the garage fob and send impulse which is stateless. If someone remove magnetic part of your contact sensor from the door you the automation will open the door for him after time you specified. All sensors should be installed from inside so they are not accessible.

You're right. I'll move them inside. I did note that after making the movie but luckily there's a camera to watch it! I disable the automation for long trips.

Was thinking the same thing. Other than that, thanks for the video! I was wondering if I could use the contact sensor with the switchbot to control my garage and also know if its open or closed.

Also, I’ve learned that the glue for the magnet doesn’t necessarily stick well. I’ve had the magnet fall off. This would create another security hole. If the magnet falls, your door again will open. You’ll need a nonferrous clamp to assure it never moves or replace it with one that attaches with at least one screw.

Can you also stick the switchbot to the garage door button on the wall in your garage and accomplish the same without needing another garage door remote?

yes technically, but my garage button was too large and awkward to mount it
