Bro incredible video. Simon's talk had a huge impact on me when I first saw it years back, so that was fantastic to revisit his message particularly within this context. Loved the insight behind your journey, awesome stuff!

Hey this is an amazing video. Im starting my content creating journey on instagram, tiktok and KZbin. I was burned out because I focused too much on what I need to do the attract people. I think its a natural thought but its not healthy, its kinda the same with people pleasing. So thanks for reminding me about it 🌷

Personally, I don't aspire to be a social media creator, but it's so interesting to understand what goes on behind the camera. Thanks for sharing your story, sean! I hope you continue to perform well and never lose your "why" in the process 💛(by the way, your editing is sooo clean, absolutely insane)

I remember when I found you for the first time, exactly after nonsense 30min scrolling, and it was one of the "this is your last video". Just so cool approach and storytelling technique. I'm trying to make my accounts thrive also, but it's so hard to focus on the why when you got this frequent feeling of having to put out content every single day machine like... Great video Sean, and keep doing it, because regardless of the algorithm everyday you're helping out someone you never met across the globe :)

Yea I get this, I've been in your shoes. I started posting on Instagram coz I enjoyed it like for fun then by time ended up posting content for the algorthim than, what I actually liked and wanted to post to a point that I over reached my goal of 10k by 100k and I was like now what. It was when I realised that I needed a Change in the way I do things and asked myself 'Why and what where my original reasons of doing content creation'. Glad to see I'm not the only one going trough this.

Thank you! Your video has cleared up a mess that has been raging in my head lately. Thank you so much for that! After recently restarting an Instagram account (mind you, because I deleted the first version out of frustration and apparently lost my why because of it), I was back to the point of being at the far edge of the circle after only a few weeks, staring at the "what" without being able to see the "why". At least that's what I thought. I guess I had to remind myself to go from the opposing way.

Without yet finishing this video; it seems like I had a similar experience. Starting off with doing photography, drawing and writing stories that I would diligently print out and staple together in elementary school to share with classmates eventually evolved into shooting and editing videos for fun. It was always about fun. Even when I was first into introduced to KZbin, getting 60-80k+ views wasn't even a huge deal because it wasn't about money or getting ad revenue--none of that existed. And so the emphasis was always on the creative process, having fun and connecting with people. Later when I started making videos and some of them took off--you feel like you've hit the jackpot, but soon you start worrying more about the numbers and the "growth" as opposed to enjoying the process. And after a viral video it's almost a sure thing that your reach will start to plummet and you'll start losing followers. When I started going back to the mindset that these videos are just for fun and to help people, I didn't care if only 100 or even 200 people saw them because I knew those people would benefit from them and I had a great time making the video anyway, so everything shifts. You start caring more about the followers you have already connected with and making deeper connections with them instead of being so focused on numbers. I feel like being more focused on the community and providing valuable content that will help SOMEONE even if it's not this massive number of people, as well as continuing to be curious and creative takes off the unneeded stress of pure numbers. At the end of the day, it's to curate the type of content that you can enjoy creating while attracting the type of people you want in your digital ecosystem.

I discovred your videos in november when I was making a career change from executive management to interior design and it was scary. your videos helped me gain a view of who I am and wahat I want truly. I started speding less time on instagram and, ironically, your videos made me do it :-) thank you Sean!

Simon Sinek is the best! I still haven't figured out why I want or wanted to be an audio engineer, but I know the "why" I wanted to become a teacher. I make my own educational content about things that I know best now: music and audio engineering. I love teaching and would love to go back to school in the near future to become a teacher, but watching Simon every now and then and watching your video makes me realize that I have been chasing the wrong goals and motivates me further to teach more!

Very well put together. Thank you for this! I’ve been losing a lot of followers on my Instagram too, and I was also losing motivation to create these videos. I was so hooked on catching the algorithm that I forgot my purpose behind what I do. Reigniting that flame, I’m more focused on my why instead of the numbers, and I’m having a lot more fun creating 🙂

I'd your business model.goes against Instagram's. And they either noticed manually or the algorithm noticed that viewing your videos brings engagement down so they recommended your videos less. Dark, but would sadly be the interest of the company.
