I am applying to a graduate program in mathematics for this spring. Your video is incredibly helpful and allowed me to set a similar goal for myself! It would be great to work with you in the future.

This really inspired me. I also want to go to grad school and be a mathematician, but I have been losing interest in math for quite a while due to depression. Despite that I still do want to continue learning math cuz I haven't given up on it yet. I'm gonna have to have a much bigger desire to perform well If I were to have a fighting chance to regain my passion for math, and I think this video helped me realize that.

This channel is a gold mine. Thank you. Introspective question: Do you feel the 4.0 was worth it, and do you think you will regret the time investment later on, or will it continue to be a badge of pride for most, if not all, of your life?

As a 4.0 student with my bachelors degree, I know that getting that 4.0 takes a lot of sacrifices that include time management and mental health. As I’m starting my graduate program with the end goal of getting my masters (not planning on pursuing a postgraduate), do you think it is worth it to try to sacrifice as much as possible for a perfect gpa?

A lot of people take it, do they all get 4.0’s?
@HeadphoneTarnish3 жыл бұрын
If you’re going into academia, a 4.0 is not a useful goal if it comes at the expense of even one publication. PhDs, post docs and professorships are not gotten with grades, they could not care less if you have a 4.0. Academia is not about doing well in classes, it’s about producing research. Not knocking any of this advice, but it’s very important perspective that a lot of naive students don’t hear. Focusing intensely on grades instead of research can/will sink your research career.
