I kinda get now why top students are worried about getting "bad grades" like a B. You seem genuine about it, you want to be great at it, you're doing your hardest to be good at it, and the B doesn't cut it. I can respect that.
@ipsharoy73984 жыл бұрын
Same. I am myself not an excellent student (I mostly get B and A, and sometimes A+) but I still understand. To make fun of a top student for getting B is often compared to a spoilt kid crying over a normal car for not getting a lambo, and it should not happen. They are trying to make it perfect, to get a good future, and we should understand them when they feel sad for getting a B

Also the grading is different than the US. So a B- (for example) in NZ is a D in the Us
@nonfique4294 жыл бұрын
@@theanimationlads7598 True, I haven't considered that. I went back and checked with our school's grading and anything above C- is fine by our grading, although you have to repeat classes between C+ and C- to increase your median if you get it below 2.0 (4.0 being A+, 0.0 being E). There are classes that I've failed, but they've let me take the next years classes because my median was high enough.

That means the standards for achievement of those marks is different. A 80% at different universities will not be equivalent, the standard of work needed will be different and so that's reflected in the grade boundaries.

You young students keep getting it wrong! In the US, 70% is a weak performance. That's like a bottom 10% or so. AFAIK, in Aus & NZ like in UK you'd need to have done 2 years of A level to even get into Uni. That's worth a good year off the start of a degree course. For instance, in A level Math you'd learn differential and integral calculus, linear algebra etc. In the English system you either leave at 16 after O level (called GCSE these days) or stay to 18 and do 3 or 4 subjects at A level.

Those are terrific grades, Toby - you have every right to be proud of your efforts! At 11:38 you talk about not going out, etc, while doing your undergraduate course. This was my experience, too, and sometimes I wanted to go out but there was work to be done. I beg to differ at 10:59 regarding no-one really being interested in grades at the end of one's degree - my first and second employer (within my first year after graduating at an engineer) were very interested in my grades. However; since then, no-one has been interested as it's the experience which counts more.

To have some balance, and get a reminder that it’s a progress. I’ve hd good grades, but doing this helped me finally be in a place where I can apply to my dream education. Having teachers tell you that they see your potential, but you have to put in the hard work too really helped as well. I wish every student had just one eacher that believed in them because that helps so much those days the motivation is lower. Can I just say that as an American I am very jealous of your grading scale and 3-year Bachelor's degrees. Passing in my courses are a 74+ and a full grade point (A/A+) is a 94+.

You are with out a doubt one of our best & brightest Tibees but your also down to earth and an excellent communicator! And you studied in Aotearoa (I'm Australian as well but was raised in NZ) Thats really cool! If you happen to read this comment I just want you to be encouraged & I wish you all the best. Ryan.

Hi Tody, congrats on your grades. One question about all those Math and Physics classes you had per semester, did you take all those Physics classes and all those Math classes at the same time or were they taught in a sequence? For example, in your 2014 Bachelor of Science, I could not see myself doing Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Mathematics 2 all the same time. Just curious. Thanks.

Here in Canada you can enter uni at 17 depending when your birthday is. If your birthday is sept-December you can be 17 and going to uni.

I’m 11, and my work is coming out horrible. And honestly, I don’t put work into it, which consequently makes me sad then sadder then sadder and so on. If your reading this, creator of this video, I’m taking inspiration from you. I’m putting my 100%. Because I want the my grades to turn out like yours. You’ve changed a life today.❤️❤️❤️

Are you kidding me, you must be a genius. I never understood why you gave up on your Ph.D., but you are very impressive and honest.

Did better than I did in partial diff eq haha! Also loved Linear Algebra, glad to see someone else enjoyed it, it's what really solidified my decision to major in math.
