Hi Holly, I was watching a few of your other IB videos and realised that we esentially have the same courses except that I have HL Business and Management instead of HL History. I am heading into the DP programme this September and I am kind of afraid of the whole IB programme, because I've been told I wouldn't get sleep and all that. Since you went through it, what do you think about your workload and how much time you had to things in general.

That's really cool! Don't worry about what other people are saying about the programme--I often find that people like to exaggerate how hard things are for effect. Yes, the IBDP is definitely challenging at times, but it is also very rewarding and you're going to learn A LOT! In terms of sleep, I was able to get about 8 hours of sleep consistently while in the programme (sometimes more). I don't like going to bed past midnight and I find when I get less than ~8 hours of sleep, I am veryyyy grumpy the next day. I set limits for myself (no homework on Fridays, taking breaks--meaning setting a timer while I study, and no staying up late for homework except sometimes when it was really needed). The busiest time is when your IA's are due in year 2, but if you constantly put in the work, it will all come together. You can also still be very involved while in the programme, but it's important to prioritize which extracurriculars really matter to you. For me, that was band, orchestra, and student senate. Good luck in the programme; if you work hard, you will do well

@@abibasra4755 I may or may not... the math, history, and chemistry videos should be out in the next couple weeks, but for French I don't have a lot of IB-specific tips so I'm probably just going to continue making videos in French/about learning French in general :)

@@Imaginfinity Could you make a video explaining how the IB French course is overall, and method on how to prep. for the oral and exams? It would really help since I believe that French and Math are my weakest subject as of right now.

@@pauline-er3kk I honestly believe how hard your experience is in first year, depends on your school and teachers! If your teachers are pestering you with examinations and assignments it's hard, but if they are more chill, it won't be! All in all, it gets pretty stressful and I feel behind on studying for literally, ALL my subjects... so yeah...

Hi! I think you flipped the order on the notes! Paper 2 is contrasting between 2 texts and you wrote that for paper 1!

This is how the exams were when I took them a few years ago :) (both involved comparing 2 texts) - I think there have been some changes with the exams in Lang and Lit since then so check with the IB for any new information!

hi holly! do you have any tips on being more specific/relevant in analysis? ive been stuck with a 12/20 for my paper 1 since year 5 and im in my final year now :( my teacher often comments that my analysis is superficial/too general and i tried to work on that but the same problem keeps occuring

esther - hi! thanks for your message :) my biggest piece of advice would be to always think: what is the EFFECT of this literary device? why does this literary device prove the argument I’m trying to make? why is it significant? always identify a literary term and very clearly explain your answer to these questions and your answers will become much more specific! using the PEE method of paragraph writing can also help make sure you’re elaborating in your analysis :)
