No one tells you this when you're interviewing for your first full time job out of college, but a lot of times you're given a lot of leeway since the interviewers know that you're still a student. So I think it's common to feel like you "failed" interviews but still get the offer. Interviewers definitely err on the side of potential and willingness to learn as opposed to getting the interview questions perfect. I felt like I failed my Microsoft interview at first too! But it ended up working out. Great video again, Mikie!

Hey Mikie! Thank you for sharing your journey. My biggest takeaway from your video is that, articulating and verbalizing your thought process may help you in a technical interview, even though you didn't have the most optimal solution. In a real world scenario, we can look up code on StakeOverFlow and work with other people as a team to come up with a solution. It sounds to me that having humility to not be afraid to fail, and showing the steps you took to the solution, really helped you out in the interview, unknowingly or not. Thank you again Mikie for telling us pretty much how your interview was like. Great new profile photo btw!

Congrats on landing the job at Microsoft! Do you have any tips for computer science students who are actively looking for internships in aerospace? It's something I've wanted to do for a very long time!
@ByteOfMichael4 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I’d say look at internships both in the federal government and private companies/defense contractors. Know that you might need a security clearance which includes a pretty thorough background investigation so I’d just suggest making good choices haha. Good luck man!

I got the verbal offer already, with the Covid-19, do they send you the offer packet online or by mail? Do you fill in all the paperwork online thru their HR platform or do I need to get a printer and print things out? Too excited and can’t wait

Congrats! And everything is online through Microsoft career portal

Hello, I am from a bit non reputed college in India pursuing my BS in computer science. So keeping that in mind to progress and to get an interview for the position of program manager, will the Coursera course offered by Google on project management specialization be of any good?
@ByteOfMichael3 жыл бұрын
I'm not sure on what's included in the Coursera course but it definitely can't hurt! I think you should aim to fill out your resume with PM experience anyway you can!

Program manager do not get coding questions at all. Even glassdoor reviews says that there is NO technical interview, all behavioral questions ONLY

Yep true! I interviewed for a software engineering role so I had to answer a coding question!

You're a PM at MSFT but you kept showing pics of people using Macs. I'm not saying that *no-one* uses a Mac at MSFT, but the default machine is a Surface, for obvious reasons.

hahah there's not a lot of free stock video with people using Surfaces unfortunately
