I found that thinking of what I wanted to do as a career helped me narrow it down. So for me that was being a doctor so I looked at what I needed to study at Uni and what the entry requirements were. I then chose my A levels accordingly. I have a few videos on Medicine if you want a bit of convincing haha. Hope that helps 😊

My only advice is to pick what you like and what you really enjoy. In Y11 I was down to study Chemistry Physics Maths and Computer Science. I also considered German at one point (???!!) I'm now studying Chemistry Biology Maths and Further Maths - you'll change your mind, I'm glad I did! If all else fails, pick A-Levels which will be generally useful to get you in the general field you want to be in - it doesn't matter if you don't know for sure. E.g. if you wanted to possibly work in science, chose as above, but if you wanted to work in social care, things like english, sociology etc. etc.

Hi Jade! I'm an O Level student of science. When I was in 7th and 8th grade midterms I struggled with chemistry a lot. I got C's till then For 7:05 I was pretty much impressed how relatable this advice is. After I solved many end of chapter practice questions from 2 textbooks including "red spot", I made my base more expert and finally got a B in chem final. Which is the second 🥈 place after A (90 above)

I did my A-levels 12 years ago. I am glad that I grew up without smartphones and Internet but I am also a bit jealous about how much easier it seems to be nowadays to learn basically everything you want online. I've had a pretty mixed year so far for chemistry. I got a U in my very first assessment (14/29) for amount of substance, minus ideal gas equation and concentration/titrations), but resat it a week or so later and got an A (18/20). Then I got an A for atomic structure (31/32) and amount of substance part 2 (43/44). However, I dropped to a C (29/41) as I didn't learn all of the shapes. Thank you so much for the tips! I'll definitely be applying them to my revision (especially the bit about practicals).

katie I was the head girl at my school (not sixth form like Jade) and I think the most important thing is being active in school life, e.g. helping out at events and so on. I had a couple of interviews but I guess that is different for each school! :)

Can you please do a video on what to do if your teacher is awful at teaching! I’m doing a level and my teacher is not engaging, she doesn’t give homework, and we don’t learn. I have been doing a level for quite a few months and we were working on page 1... HELP ME !! I have a mock in January and do not have any knowledge of my subject! Many students have reported the teacher but nothing has been done. I’m thinking of getting a tutor but I shouldn’t need to pay for extra tuition when the school should provide education...

Im not trying to discourage you, but chances are if you don't like chemistry, you won't like medicine very much. Maybe consider if its the right pathway for you (e.g. Don't just choose it for the salary). My advice is to choose subjects you love and everything else will fall into place. However, If you are adamant on medicine, chemistry is a must for most unis I'm afraid! You can however use your drive for medicine to fuel you, try your best to understand and do lots of work outside of class and you'll be absolutely fine.

You have to have chem for medicine I think, I literally don’t think there’s any other choice. I’m year 12 currently, I got A*s at gcse in chem all the way through, got nearly 100% in the GCSE. I thought I loved it but a levels have made me hate it. I’m currently passing every other subject with B/C average and getting Us in chemistry even though I take biology and was crap at GCSE. Chem is not worth it but I’m stuck in too far now. I think it’s my deep hate that’s causing me to fail.

I mean geography hasn’t been too bad but like it’s a huge step. 1 exam is 2h15min and there is 1 38 mark question and 2 45. So far I’ve only done a few 38 marks for practise and it’s a lot of writing. The content is pretty much the same Content. Chemistry is hard. And I mean hard. Like forget gcse it’s not the same. Everything you did at gcse is basically wrong 😂 from what I’ve heard it gets better though so it’s not too bad. And biology there is a lot of work and falling behind is really bad because so much to do in so little time. I reckon Ive done the same amount of work in this term than in the entirety of year 11. But if you keep at it it’s not too bad and I am enjoying it so go for it xxx
