So true, and they were also good employees, my husband recently took another job after working for his company for 21 years. He wanted to retire there, but when I saw some people in higher roles being cut, and finding other jobs he started looking. He’s in the upper management role, so it took awhile, he had job security for the wrong reason (he’s handicapped) but the moral really started to tank, the company had been sold, and all the staff had gone thru that 3 years prior where every single person in his company, and the company they were merging with had to “INTERVIEW” for their job, it was stressful and honestly the employees on both sides lost their loyalty when they realized they all were nothing but a number. At least for their woman she had an advantage and that is her age. Try finding a job over 40, it’s rough, but it gets even more difficult when one is over 50, like my husband. Then add the fact he is handicapped, requiring forearm crutches, he would know in the first 5 seconds if he was wasting his time.

When you interview for other places, dont tell them you got fired - tell them you got laid off due to their own budget cuts and inability to pay employees. Wording is everything here and can make a huge difference getting hired somewhere else. If you mention mass layoffs or corporate struggling to meet sales, you aren’t looked at as the reason for being fired. These companies have no interest in anything except what makes THEM money, so always protect yourself in that scenario and be careful with what you reveal to them. Btw, them telling you they will “get back to you to see if you can stay” is their way of stringing you along. Dont go back. They likely wont rehire you (jobs never just “take a break.” They either fire you, lay you off, or keep you on. They know what they want to do and are not being honest with you.) but if you do get an offer to stay, your efforts are better in a lot of other retail options. You can make more and be appreciated better somewhere else. Their company is going down and its better to get out now.

Mass layoffs have been coming from many companies here lately, and they do not have to let you know when mass layoffs are coming depending on what state you are in all they have to do is give you what they call a warn notice. Companies aren’t doing good financially leave right now and it shows.

Depending on what kind of position you have in the company, it is not common policy anywhere to let you know you're going to get fired. Comapnies know you'd (quiet) quit if they gave you an actual termination date.

Keep in mind the people still working are now having to work harder for the same pay. So when you deal with "poor customer service" consider you may actually be dealing with an overworked employee who doesn't get a moment because the company laid off those needed people that should be there not only to assist in profits but to contribute to each other a better work environment for the ones who should actually matter, not the person making 1000% more for having a higher ranking title.

I used to work for Jay Z club, his bff and GM Liz (whos faced controversy) yelled like a psycho for any little thing, fired people on the spot for petty reasons and refused to pay unemployement or send last checks (they eventually got sued for it), it was so seedy, nasty and uncouth in general. She fired me (surprisingly away from other people and in private, also respectfully) because she thought i was an undercover blogger 🤣🤣🤣

This just happened to me at a restaurant here in Pittsburgh they hired me and let me work for 3 days when they weren’t even hiring for the position I applied for. I thought I was doing great but they texted me in the morning last Friday and said they were letting me go. I was so confused and they told me that they weren’t pleased with my work after only 3 days 😂 training usually lasts up to a week sometimes even 2 weeks. How can you possibly know if I’m any good at a job after only 3 days. Im sorry but in my opinion that’s just not enough time to know if anyone is any good or not cause you barely even got your feet in the damn door.
