Hello everyone! I'm a native Spanish speaker from Colombia as well and I'm so excited to see how many people want to learn my main language it's crazyyy. An advice I could give you is don't give up I know learning a new language is hard (I know thanks english :P) but the most important thing is the discipline and make mistakes don't worry about that a lot of people like I like seeing someone learning our language. I hope this comment and video encourage you, I know you can be fluently If you really want to. Have a good day/afternoon/evening/night wherever you are :)

I think people throw the word fluent around way too casually. I've been living in Germany for 4 years, got my b1 certificate in the first year and actively speak German all day every day and I wouldn't even remotely consider myself "fluent".

He should probably change the title to "conversational" instead of "fluent" in 32 days as he definitely achieved that. Would love to see someone with basic or no Spanish background attempt the challenge. I still swear by Baselang as the one of the best resources available.
@geosmi011 күн бұрын
Agreed. He seems pretty disingenuous. He even states multiple times throughout the video that he couldn’t even say ‘Hola’ even though he lived in Spanish speaking countries and is married to a Colombian. Some good info I.e. use mimicry. But the video is just a big advert for baselang.

flu·ent - (of a person) able to express oneself easily and articulately. Everyone has different standards of what it means to be fluent. I can speak to my wife and any native Spanish speaker now with about 90% accuracy and convey my ideas and thoughts while understanding what's being communicated. Fluency isn't some standard you gatekeep and reserve, it's just a way to say that you can speak the language. Thank you for the compliment and yes, I'm still learning to continually refine my speaking.

Hey I'm Korean-American (born in America) but Korean is my first language as my parents only spoke it in the home so I had to learn English in grade school. You have good info but I wish people would stop using click bait to get views. There is no way someone can become FLUENT in Spanish in 30 days, especially from ZERO. This is not realistic and can harm people trying to learn because they begin to think something is wrong with them if they are not FLUENT in such little time. Also, it depends on what you mean by FLUENT.
@TimKimMeАй бұрын
Thanks, I worked hard to try an include all of the information that helped me learn. To address your point, I literally start the video off by saying that I had previous experience and even included my background. I never said I was learning from "zero", the thumbnail of this video even says from BASIC to fluent. I even summarize it AGAIN in the end that I personally don't think anyone can become fluent in 30 days. ➡️ kzbin.info/www/bejne/jWfGc6qanbGXoZosi=bCclkxir7v1Laghk&t=760 With all that being said, if you put in 80+ hours of 1-on-1 private speaking lessons with natives and an extra 20+ hours of language input and review like I did in 30 days, you should at LEAST be conversationally fluent.
@greadoreАй бұрын
@@TimKimMe thanks for the reply. I agree you mentioned more info once I started watching the video, but the overall title that someone sees before even watching the video is misleading.
@TimKimMeАй бұрын
@@greadore Can you explain how it's misleading? I could barely hold a conversation before and after my research and study I feel like I finally reached a level that I could confidently consider as fluent. What would you have labeled this video?
@greadoreАй бұрын
@@TimKimMe the title implies that a person can speak FLUENT Spanish in only one month. This is seen as having no previous experience with the language as that is not mentioned at all in the title. Your previous exposure to the language in school, through trips to Spanish speaking country and interaction with your wife is a HUGE benefit and advantage compared to someone starting from zero which the title implies.
@TimKimMeАй бұрын
Nope, I def have to disagree with you on that one. Invoking curiosity is part of what brings people to your videos and a strategy you should use if you actually want to share your art + story. Even movies do this with trailers and misdirection. I very intentionally outline my background with Spanish as soon as the video starts to be as authentic and clear about my background with Spanish as possible and CLEARLY, if you actually watch the video I explain why I was able to gain so much ground in such a short period. Also, I stand by that if someone who had little to basic Spanish like I did followed my exact steps could reach conversational fluency like I did.
