This is a video that breaks down the method I used to achieve basic fluency in Spanish in 44 days. I took Spanish in High School over a decade ago so my Spanish knowledge was very basic. This video includes several tips and exercises that you can incorporate into your own language learning routine.
I created a similar method to learn French. Check it out HERE 👉🏼 • How I Got Fluent In Fr...

The Spanish language is spoken and written with two types of articles that are called definite articles and indeterminate articles or, also, definite and indefinite articles (el, la, los, las, un, una, unas,unos.... This is the secret for spanish trust me And then you learn that ,You need to learn this The three types of accents in Spanish words "Agudas" "graves" "esdrújulas" Once you learn to use articles and accents, you can start creating phrases faster than light.

Watched this video for the first time about a year ago and it completely changed the way I was studying Spanish. I was not able to dedicate 8 hours a day but I was able to incorporate a bit of what he taught everyday. 1-3 hours daily. I was disciplined and consistent. I’m fluent in Spanish now and can express myself very well. I’m at the point now where my learning mostly comes from reading books in Spanish, listening to podcast and conversations with native speakers (tutors and friends) but I still revisit some of the techniques he taught me. I can confidently say that without this structured study plan in the beginning of my journey I would not have arrived where I am today. The speaking exercise truly prepared me to begin practicing with native speakers without fear. I can’t thank you enough for sharing your wisdom, Cameron. I’m taking the DELE later this year (C1) but after that I will begin learning Portuguese and I’m going to start with this method from the very beginning.

When you have even a basic knowledge of a language from the past, it’s not the same as learning a language from scratch so people shouldn’t get discouraged if they don’t learn a language at this speed. @@edlrocks12591 My thoughts. I saw his day 1 and day 5 and was amazed at how much he understood grammar , the basics of building sentences etc. After one day in any NEW language, I would not be able to build sentences, merely parrot them. I find this to be very clickbaity. 30 years ago I did 3 years of french in junior school. I can still say a few sentences and understand the structure of the language. Give me a couple of months of intensive training and I believe I can be, if not fluent, passable.

8 hrs/day for 44 days = 352 hrs 352 hrs * 60 min/hr = 21,120 min This man put in some WORK. There’s really no shortcuts to learning a language. It simply takes time, repetition, and practice. 8hrs/day for 44 days is basically equivalent to 1hr/day for a whole year. He had the dedication to sit down and consistently build his skills for 8 hrs a day consecutively. Simple as that. Props brother.

I’ve watched one half of this video and I am lost. I’m spending a month in Spain next year with the hope of moving there in ‘24. Watching this, it seems like I’m facing a mountain that I won’t be able to climb. I wonder if it would just be better to hire a tutor. I’d love to hear from someone who has learned conversational Spanish in one year, if that is even doable.
@TheRandomDudeTM
@TheRandomDudeTM 2 жыл бұрын
@@yankee58100 honestly, I don't know about that... I mean, I'm planning to learn Spanish later on this year, but haven't started yet. I can't really tell you whether "fluency" is an achievable goal or not (after all, "fluent" has kinda become an umbrella term meaning both nothing and everything at the same time). What I can say is that the video clearly shows it's possible to achieve "conversational fluency" in way less than a year, but ONLY if you're willing to put in a crazy amount of time and effort. The FSI estimates you'd need around 500h of intensive training to reach fluency in lvl1 languages (such as Spanish, French, catalan, Italian etc)... The guy in the video said he worked around 8-12h/d (tot 380-440h) on his Spanish to reach this level in just over a month... Ps. I'll try to replicate the process changing it and twisting it to better suit my one life/interests/goals, but I'm pretty confident saying that any time you put into language learning is time well spent and that it will pay off later on (if you've read so far and were able to understand my comment... Well, English is an L2 for me, my L1 is Italian, so... Yeah... It's doable, and even if we as language learners will never get to be as "proficient" as natives... Who cares!!! :D)

@Words-of-encouragement.-.
@Words-of-encouragement.-. Жыл бұрын
I agree with the point you are trying to make, but for the sake of clarification, he did NOT achieve native-level fluency in 44 days. In fact, that's not even possible unless you have an eidetic memory. The 44 days were what it took for him to essentially develop a baseline level of "conversational fluency" and from there is where he began pursuing native level (which takes a long time). He makes this clear around 9:50, but he probably should have made it more clear throughout the vid. Either way, it's impressive, and reality doesn't take away from that. It's just good to set realistic expectations for people because the majority would not achieve anywhere near these results.

@Lyrics and Movies Sure. I have always been fascinated by the theoretical aspect of things, so when it comes to languages, I tend to focus a lot more on grammar and have an approach that could be described as mathematical. Since the age of 12 I have been spending part of my free time doing comparative grammar. For the same reasons I also use the bidirectional translation method of Luca Lampariello. Also, as I love reading, I practice on a daily basis intensive and extensive reading. The results are pretty satisfying on the long run but I am aware that it is not a natural way to learn languages. The method applied in this video seems to be quicker and more holistic, and I can see myself using it if I had a short amount of time to learn, that is for example before traveling.

@@briAgu55 Thanks for your message! I will be posting updates on my channel "brianopolis" and I will be self-publishing something late spring I believe. It was quite a ride. It was the fall of 1996 and I saw on the morning news reports about Cuban refugees flooding into Miami - the "balseros" - and about how Miami Beach was going through a revival of sorts with tons of Europeans coming there as part of the fashion scene. So I dropped out of college and headed south. I got a job as a waiter, bought a bilingual dictionary and phrase book, and I then I had to just ask people at work or people I met on the streets or cafes or bars or wherever to help me with my pronunciation and to understand the more complex problems I encountered with the language. Now, of course, the Latin culture has spread immeasurably since that time and it is no longer necessary to go to a place like Miami to meet people. I think you'll like the book. It's a memoiresque how-to book on self-guided immersion experiences here in the U.S.

That’s true, but not completely. I had 4 years of Spanish in high school too (over 20 years ago now), and I reached a decent level of listening and reading comprehension and had a decent accent. But having actual conversations with real people isn’t something that I had a ton of experience with. So, although I could say a lot of things I wanted to talk about, I wouldn’t say that I was fluent. Now I’ve forgotten a lot of what I learned, but if I started learning again, my foundation from before would definitely be a HUGE boost. But to reach fluency, I would need to go beyond where I was before. And if I studied 8 hours a day (like this guy), I could reach a decent conversational level in 44 days too. But I don’t have the time, money, or motivation for that.

@Tony Montana I understand your point of view. However, tell me, where does mastering start, what are the criteria to be a master? Does being a master mean you have to be fluent 100% of the time? I don't think so. Does being a master mean you can not make mistakes? For me, being a master includes the following criteria: fluency, the ability to maneuver in the field without thinking too much, and having sufficient knowledge to be comfortable in any conversation and to face any situation related to this field with confidence. This guy has it all. I come from a French-speaking country. And I was amazed by the results he has got in just 30days. Who can predict what result this guy would have if he followed through with his method for a year? I think it would be mastery. So what do you think?

Some people don’t understand that you did this for 8 hours a day for 44 days straight. Like you said, you treated it as a job. Learning a language can be quick with this method, but you have to put in the time and effort… Obviously most people who work and have jobs can’t find that sort of time to do so. This is such a great method! Thank you for taking the time to outline these steps. I always feel like I get caught between steps 2 and 3. Knowing more than a basic knowledge of the language, but never quite reaching a fluency level. How do you maintain your language knowledge once you are no longer spending 8+ hours a day learning a language? For instance, how did you keep up your French maintenance while focusing most of the time in Spanish?

Dang, I’m inspired. I’ve been wanting to learn Portuguese for a while now, and you just gave me a super straight-forward approach. I def don’t have time to learn the language full-time, but this seems achievable if I do it part-time on a 3-4 month timeline. I’ll be sure to check back in if I follow through. Thanks so much!

The TED Talk tip is a major key. When I was working on Spanish, I would watch cartoons and listen to podcasts, but even when I understood a good percentage of the content, I'd inevitably come across words that I couldn't quite decipher. Without a transcript to refer to, I found myself just moving on but feeling lost. Having a written counterpart to what you're hearing is HUGE.

I am not an English speaker, so I didn’t understand the explanation about TED Talks. If he uses the subtitles in Spanish, how does he find out what is being said? By the way, I speak Portuguese, which comes from Latin, just like Spanish, so the words are very similar. His Spanish is just like that of a native Spanish speaker in terms of accent.

This a great approach - really methodical. The level of dedication you have is inspiring. The TED talks idea is really cool. I really like how you keep rewatching and working on the same content again and again - I was always missing this when I followed learning with my teacher. Interestingly enough - you never mentioned using a dedicated language learning book. Why is that? Boring content? Or not effective learning system? learning in context is king - all language learners on KZbin now say the same. Are there content learning apps you would recommend?
