TestDaF (Test Deutsch als Fremdsprache) is a standardized German language test which covers levels B2-C1. I took the TestDaF in November and ended up getting full marks for it, so in this video, I share my tips on how to score well and do great on the TestDaF.
There are some things that I didn't really explain well in the video. If you're not preparing for the TestDaF at a language school, you'll have to apply to sit the test online by yourself. This is problematic because language schools apply for their students and these seats are reserved for them before the online application is open to the public. This means that a lot of the time, the test centers in the bigger cities are already fully booked and you'll be restricted to test centers at the smaller cities.
This is the best way to get fluent in German: • The Best Way to Get Fl...
Textbooks I have personally used to get to C1 and full marks on the TestDaF (affiliate links):
📖 TestDaF Books I used to get full marks:
TestDaF-Training 20.15: amzn.to/3gA01tB
Prüfungstraining DaF: amzn.to/3tNNBBP
📚 German Textbooks:
Themen aktuell 1 (A1): amzn.to/32JajPL
Themen aktuell 2 (A2):amzn.to/3aAYyPS
Aspekte neu (B1 part 1): amzn.to/32LzbX3
Aspekte neu (B1 part 2): amzn.to/3xmMew7
Aspekte neu (B2 part 1): amzn.to/2QrLoxH
Aspekte neu (B2 part 2): amzn.to/3vhp3BO
Aspekte neu (C1): amzn.to/2S08fAV
German Vocabulary Book (vocabulary sorted according to different topics) For A1-B2: amzn.to/3xoOiEe
The TestDaF is also graded as follows:
The test has 4 sections and for each section, you can score a minimum of 3 points and a maximum of 5 points, making the test out of 20 points in total. Lots of universities require you to score 4, 4, 4, 4 on each section so it's best to aim for at least 16 points.
You're welcome to leave comments if you have any questions; I'll try my best to answer them. Thanks for watching and best of luck if you're planning on taking the test.

Na prima! Das ist ja ein überzeugendes Ergebnis, eine sehr gründliche und überlegte Vorbereitung - die schließlich mit Erfolg belohnt wurde. OK, I'll repeat it in English for those who aren't fluent in German: Great! That is a convincing result, a very thorough and deliberate preparation - which was in the end rewarded with success. Snow is good to look at & have fun outside - as long as one doesn't have to go distances by car at this time of the year.

I think the reason that your video, which you mentioned in the beginning, blew up quite a bit did so because a lot of Germans are for some reason very curious how foreigners perceive "their" country... :) (and then 10-20% of Germans proceed to comment the dumbest things imaginable, haha!) I prefer the online material available on youtube and duolingo over the courses at VHS. Dont get me wrong, VHS is helpful but I like the grammar explanations in English. You should make a video in German! Also, are the results of this particular test useful forever? For example, the certificates you get from Cambridge English as a foreign language exams don't last forever, after a few years you have to retake the exams to show you haven't lost your level, except the Proficiency exam (the last one), which is valid basically forever. Do you know if that is any different with these tests?
@MoreYinThanYang
@MoreYinThanYang 5 жыл бұрын
Hey Arturo, I’m not sure but I know what you mean because some universities require the language test to have been taken within a few years of the application. A lot of universities in Germany require a DSH-Prüfung which you’ll have to take at the uni campus in addition to the TestDaF during the application process so I guess that’s how you prove you haven’t lost proficiency. Hope this helps 😊

Make video on how you memorised german vocabulary ........
@MoreYinThanYang
@MoreYinThanYang 3 жыл бұрын
I am not a fan of memorizing vocabulary but I had a vocabulary test every week while I was learning German at university. We used the book: Lextra - Deutsch als Fremdsprache A1-B2 - Lernwörterbuch Grund- und Aufbauwortschatz by Erwin Tschirner I think this book is alright because it splits vocabulary into different topics so you’re not just blindly memorizing vocabulary without context The other way that I think is more effective is to use the language - write a diary or talk to other people in German and learn the words as you go. It’s more effective because it gives you a context for the words. Hope this helps

Does anyone knows how long it takes to learn german from A1 to B2 ?? (everyday learning)
@MoreYinThanYang
@MoreYinThanYang 3 жыл бұрын
Well for a benchmark, an intensive course at a language school in Germany, going from A1 to the end of B2 normally takes 8 months, but of course in reality, this varies from one individual to another.

@MoreYinThanYang

Get to level c1 and it shouldn’t take too long to prepare for TestDaF. You get like 3 months time after applying to it and taking the test and that should be enough. Of course you could still take the test with b2 if you’re okay with fewer Marks or if you only need to prove B2 level for a job or for work. Hope this helps 🙂

Hi, my name is Lenka and I would like to do my german exam in April. I need it for my studies in Germany. Ich have already online downloaded your second book called "Prüfungstraining" but the problem is that this book doesn´t include any results of the exercises. So I wated to ask you...If you maybe have still your book, could you please send me these results per e-mail? Just take a couple of pictures. I would be really grateful for it, because otherwise I can´t know if I do any mistakes. Thank you very much for your time! :) PS: Congratulations to your great results!
