I applied for a J1 visa for the US in 2018 and was not only rejected, but the B1B2 I already had with my hubby was revoked and my kids B1B2 was still valid. J1 is a type of work visa thats rarely given to Nigerians, i got an internship chef job in New York and was so exited but that revoking dealt with us. Today, my hubby had to get his UK citizenship he's been entitled to from birth, but due to issues, his dad didn't transfer it to him, now we are currently in the UK soon to be citizens and am working in a 4 star Hotel as a chef here and may visit the US soon as Brits. Na baba God run am. The tesimomy still dey shock me.

As much as I would love to relocate but my worse fear is to get to the place and feel home sick because I love my country South Africa. There are some issues we are not happy about in SA but also leaving my family it's a big no no no. Unless God wants us to move then we wl do so. So people are moving because they see others move and it should be a big challenge when they are in a new country and so miserable and have some regrets. Chai, as I'm listening to this thing I wish that we could have spoken before you did that application, Canada and the other country, I have hacked their application process. That other country, please get hold of that rejection letter and handle the reasons for the refusal one by one, deal with it and u will get ur approval in 5 days. As for the canada one, you should have applied on the portal where you could have tied your application to your mums own, they would not have been able to seperate it. Before anybody comes for me, I have done that several times.

When it comes to visas, it often depends on the mood of the visa officer. Many Western countries are not conscientious about their immigration so they don't fund it properly and the immigration officers get away with the MOST!

Adaeze you will not kee me. Naija's special envoy to Canada. 😂 Visa applications require a different psychology especially for a country like ours wey dem no rate. Your husband is your "asset" that will bring you back. Without showing he is an asset, they will assume you are going there to live illegally, eventually settle and bring him and your kids over. But seeing that he is well rooted in Naija will flip the decision. Even in that first self sponsored application, if you had included a note about his status with all those supporting documents, they would have granted it. It's just like including the CofO of a rental property with proof of huge rental earnings. For some countries, saying you are going to take care of your sister after childbirth will earn you a rejection under visit visa because it's seen as "work". They would expect you to apply as an au pair. Great that they granted you one under that circumstance. That long duration is the koko. 👍

it is very annoying indeed. Its for this reason birth tourism is booming. its a good investment for your kids. I heard/saw an advert about people flocking to Brazil to give birth because apart from the baby getting the citizenship, his or her parents, siblings and even grandparents can get too. Sounds like the reverse. Immediate family is one of the major ways to prove strong ties to your home country. From their view, older people can become a burden on the Healthcare system especially since they won't be 'taxpayers' so they are mindful. There are many other factors they consider other than age.

Let me tell you , Canada will humble you and teach you patience. You can have 500M and you would still be denied, it’s not always about money and good job. You need to make sure your application is very thorough because to be fair, Nigerians are partly to blame. The amount of forgery and lies that people do in an application is astounding. It’s all on God and just praying 🙏 and checking all the loopholes. Do you know some Nigerians come on visit visa and never leave ? It’s well .
