I graduated with a non-tech bachelor’s degree, served in the military for five years, and transitioned into tech through an Amazon-supported software engineer Boot Camp. After facing a hiring freeze, I landed a software testing job at an aerospace company. While I don’t mind programming, I’m unsure about doing it repetitively. Recognizing the importance of cybersecurity, I’ve started a master’s in the field but am uncertain about its direction. Should I pursue Microsoft or IBM certifications and apply for jobs, tailoring my résumé, or continue my master’s? I’ve heard it leans towards a management role, but my experience is limited. Any insights?

Currently a junior studying for a bachelors in cyber and a minor in comp sci. I think I have applied to almost every help desk/ entry level it job in my city, and at least 100 internships across the country. I won't get a response back 90% of the time, and the 10% i do, I am rejected. Its rough out here.

Why do you underestimate your skills. Economics isn't any easier. Even if you had it in 2001. You can do very much in cybersecurity. I know nurses and other medicals who have don pretty well in cybersecurity. Brace up and start your career in cybersecurity. You can't say you haven't worked. Even if you used that time to raise a family,it's still work. Courage.

Just because you did the same thing as me doesn’t mean you should expect the same results. Finding a job in cyber also relies on a number of other factors like your current job market, where you live, your professional experience, what companies you apply for
