Older engineering vet here. So glad to see you younger folks prioritizing yourselves heavily. It's going to be better for your mental health and pay in the long run. Now make the money. Save it aggressively. Then stop and invest in yourself by starting or buying a business. Whatever you do don't get caught in the corporate trap of increasing your standard of living to match your salary. You'll make it harder for yourself to get out and start your own. @@TechTualChatter Looking forward to it. If I had to guess, some of that is them being locked into leases in heavy metro areas. I'm sure they're spending big bucks to be in prime real estate. Also, less footprint in those areas means less money being spent by workers on food, transport, shopping, etc.

Cybersecurity is a freaking headache. I respect you wanting to learn more but most professional roles are not gonna hold your hand. Its up to you to pickup and learn the material. To be honest, if they want to pay me a high salary and under utilize my skills, I'll be glad to pick up 6 figures to fiddle my thumbs. Just my opinion.

You guys have to start taking your life and life projects more serious than the job. The job is not the end all be all. Use it and pay your bills simply. If you are not being utilized, you are essentially being paid to do what you want. Focus on a passion or study or build something. It’s crazy you guys use these jobs to fulfill you lol
