Dr Mahnoor you are a gem. I watched your videos for plab 2, and I passed my PLAB 2 in my first attempt. I used your advice for Plab 1 as well. Before starting anything in the uk i watch your videos for guidance. It is really helpful. Watching this video. Wish me luck! I would love to be able to connect with you for further guidance if you are comfortable with it.

Hello Dr Mahnoor, just stumbled upon this video. Thankyou for providing very thorough insights. I read some comments, and got a bit relieved because I too dont have a lot of exp other than housejob and teaching. So I wanted to ask you, if there are any openings for that entry level or not? The thing is currently, (and correct me if i am wrong), due to christmas/new year holidays, I couldnt find a lot of adverts on the websites u mentioned. Despite massive obsessive hunting with all these key terms. There were barely 5 or 6. Do you think more adverts will keep on popping up? I am really depressed due to not being able to find a lot of positions (the ones i keep finding are mostly ones with a lot of experience stated in essential criterias, some even asking for postgrad experience at FY2 level). Thankyou in advance.

Hello Dr. Mahnoor! Thank you for starting this channel and sharing your experience with us. I'm currently a 3rd year medical student in Pakistan and I'd be so grateful if you could highlight anything that can I do right now to make my CV more attractive to land a good job in the nhs especially if it's in a competitive field like surgery. Thank you!

stumbled upon your video and found it very relevant and insightful. Kudos for doing this. I am applying for senior clinical fellow with a bit of hard luck so far. I have done MRCS, FCPS and ATLS so trying my luck at a bit senior level but now I feel starting at a junior clinical fellow might be better in both bagging a position as well as adjusting in NHS. How you feel about this?
@dr.mahnooraamir6030 Жыл бұрын
How much work experience do you have? If it is 5+ years then I’d say stick to senior clinical fellow. There are many registrar posts available all over the NHS, hopefully you’ll land one soon. With MRCS and FCPS, you’re over qualified to do SHO jobs. So don’t worry, you’ll find a senior clinical fellow post soon.

Hello Dr Mahnoor! Congratulations on your success! I just stumbled across your channel, and the points you've mentioned are definitely a big help in helping me make sense of all these new challenges! I was hoping to get your opinion regarding the 'Supporting Information' section of a job application. With a 1500 word limit, how do you think we should divide our words here? Should it be below 1k words or above? Is there a format we should follow? How do we use bulletpoints in our application? Thank you!
@dr.mahnooraamir6030 Жыл бұрын
As far as the supporting info is concerned, the pattern that I Iike is; 1- why are you applying for this job 2- what do you think you can bring to the department 3- supplement point 2 with your achievements and employment history i.e reasons why you consider yourself the best match for the job 4- some reflections, i.e some points in the person specifications that you might not have on your CV yet but your plans to work on them as soon as possible for example one of the jobs I applied to needed ALS as a desirable criteria, I didn’t have ALS yet but assured the employer that I have it booked and will do it as soon as possible. This is just my pattern. You can follow whatever you feel like. Just keep it original and real.

Hi, I'm currently applying for jobs, i keep seeing people say even if you dont meet all the essential criteria to apply for the jobs. However, both NHS jobs and trac doesnt let you proceed if you dont meet the essential criteria. And in NHS jobs website it requires a revalidation date to be inserted in date format. I dont have that yet, so how do i proceed with the application.
@dr.mahnooraamir603010 ай бұрын
Hi, I can understand. It’s tough these days. If the essential criteria is a yes, no answer such as do you hold a valid registration with a license to practice then of course, it would not let you proceed if you state otherwise. But if the essential criteria is a bit more flexible, then you can apply. There are many jobs that do let you proceed, but the chances of being shortlisted can be slim. So its best to apply to a wide range of jobs, grades and locations.
@dr.mahnooraamir603010 ай бұрын
Regarding revalidation, you can choose not applicable since this is your first job.

I was always scared of some people talking about how difficult to get a job after gmc reg for IMGs and it's getting more difficult in upcoming years.😢 Now watching your video give me a boost of hope to be a doctor in the UK. Could you please clarify a little that is it really getting more competitive to difficult to impossible to get a job after gmc reg done for img ? How long is the gmc registration gonna be valid if someone doesn't find a job within 6months or more ?
@dr.mahnooraamir6030 Жыл бұрын
Glad I could help. Don’t worry, the situation isn’t as bad as some people portray it. Everyone I know got a job, some people just took a bit longer than others, that’s all. If you don’t get a job within one year of registration, you’ll have to give up your license but that’s also not a problem as you can keep applying and once you do land a job, the license will be back. So things are good, just some effort is required.

Hello doctor thank you for this video. I am graduating from an EU university in a few months so I will be GMC registered as soon as I graduate. I am worried that I will have to wait for a very long time after I graduate until I land a job. I will be applying for non-training jobs (F1 level) because I will be a fresh graduate and I have no job experiences. I hear horror stories of people not landing a job after many years and I’m so scared. I have applied to so many places asking for a clinical attachment but they all say I must be GMC registered first so I will do that as soon as I graduate. What are some things I can do as a student to build my CV? Also, are these horror stories true and common? Do people really not land jobs for many many years after GMC registration? Thank you.
@dr.mahnooraamir6030 Жыл бұрын
Hey there, Please don’t pay much heed to all those depressing posts. They are exaggerated. Yes, it takes time to find a job but it’s not impossible. You just have to wait a bit and be patient. Regarding CV, what helps in job search are courses such as ALS, teaching experience and some audits/QIP. All the best!

Also can you tell how much time after getting job we should apply for training programs or should we just continue with job ? Also tell average salary estimate for the posts you told above to apply for job in uk
@dr.mahnooraamir60302 жыл бұрын
Depends upon the job. As soon as you get your crest form signed, you can apply for training. You need minimum 3 months in the job to get your crest signed. The average salary in £35-40k per annum +-banding.

Hi. I am applying for jobs right now and I don’t have a clinical attachment. I’m applying for all the posts for like 3 weeks now and i got 7 rejections. I passed mrcp part 1 exam in January this year. How to make my cv stand out? Any tips?
@dr.mahnooraamir6030 Жыл бұрын
3 weeks is still a short time, you need to wait for 1-2 months before you start getting interviews. You can try doing ALS but it is a bit expensive so I would say wait for a few more weeks. If you still don’t get interviews, ALS can help. It costs between £400-£600. All the best 😊👍🏻
