How I got my first snow removal contract and started my landscaping business

This is a quick explanation of what started my business. The key to this is that you need to create the demand for the equipment before you buy it. You can have equipment without a business, but you can’t have accounts without a business. If you truly want to get started... act as if you already have the equipment to do the job, get the job and then go get the equipment to do the job. Just be realistic about it.

@@TheLandscapingLifestyle i still.yet to go through all your videos. I'm sure I will come up with questions. My husband and I want to start a snowplowing biz but maybe I'm thinking this year is too late ? Or we may just knock on some residential doors to get some experience . Not sure if it's worth the investment in insurance and equipment straight up since he is still a full.time employee and I'm a stay at home mom. We want to plow in the winters and do pressure washing in the off winter season. It may seem pretty ambitious into both at once but with all the new work restrictions and regulations, it may be time to say bye to corporate jobs. He makes great money where he's at but it not worth putting our health at risk to appease mandates. I know freedom is controversial right now but thats just how we roll in the good ol USA. Maybe a question. You inspire me.whwn you say you failed 5 times. What does does mean ? Did you go bankrupt 5 times ? Shut the doors and loose all your money?

When I say I failed 5 times, I mean I “said” I was going to do it and then would flake out. Id purchased trailers, financing mowers, buy trucks, make business cards and then…. Quit. It would get too hard or I wouldn’t close the deal I thought would allow me to keep going. Looking back I realize I just didn’t actually commit. I wasn’t all in. Now I know the difference. Even this year, things got really tough mid-summer. I even thought… why am I doing this? Going through all this BS. Then, I realized I love those moments. There’s nothing better than having your back against the wall and making it through. That’s why I do it. This has happened countless times. Sometimes 5x per week. I believe that’s the definition of entrepreneurship - Never being comfortable. Either growing or dying. I’m actually writing a book right now to help people understand the mindset that’s needed before “starting their business.” It’s something I think would’ve helped me. You should email me at [e-mail]. @@TheLandscapingLifestyle oh man ! That's an amazing story. I have personally had 2 failed attempts at raising a business from the ground and both failed. My last one failed when I realized I couldn't sell soaps in midst of a pandemic so I realized it won't work. 😀 I have been burned before for sure and am skeptical of most KZbin get-rich-quick schemes. What you said in your video about your wife being supportive defiantly caused me to self reflect and realize I am not as supportive as I thought. Good for her ! She is a keeper. I can certainly give you my opinion since you gave been nice enough to share some trade tips for us!

Good info brotha! I started last year with a 05 Chevy 2500hd that came with a 7.6” Boss straight blade. Truck had low miles and the plow was in good shape. Paid 4K for the truck and added new tires n complete tune up. This is my second year and added another truck about 2 months ago. I bought a used 16 Ford F-350 and bought a new Boss 9.2 stainless steel V plow which I’m getting used to n love. We had one big storm on the 17th and made out well. I just picked up a contract for 2 apartment complexes. Now I’m looking to purchase a new Boss VBX 8000 salt spreader. With that said, I agree with you 💯 percent. BTW how u like that Salt Dog spreader? It’s tempting due to its price. Thanks

Thanks for the comment! Its great to hear you're growing accounts and upgrading. It's always fun building up the arsenal of equipment. Is your 16 F360 a powerstroke? I need one of those lol. The salt dogg spreader was sold in November, shortly after making the video and i got a snowex helixx spreader which is comparable to the VBX 8000 spreader. Check it out here: www.snowexproducts.com/product/helixx-poly-hopper/ Honestly, the salt dogg worked great for a manual load. I had to buy pallets of bags and it was a lot of loading and unloading bags in the back of my truck. This season with the helixx, life is good. I found a bulk material supplier in town where we just pull in and get the 1.5 cu yd hopper loaded up and roll out. You'll have SOLID setup adding the spreader, for sure. Please let me know if there's anything you'd recommend or would like to see videos on. I'm still trying to get the hang of this KZbin thing. Thanks and please promote the channel!

@@TheLandscapingLifestyle thanks for replying back. My 16 Ford F-350 is a 6.2 gasser. For snowplowing, that’s all u need unless you’re towing real heavy loads every day. A newer gasser like my ford is good enough to tow a skid steer around. And the 6.7’s ford diesels seem to still have some issues from what I hear. I’m waiting a couple a years to get a new Ford with the 7.3 gasser. They’re still working out some bugs from what I’ve heard. And you’re doing good with your channel. Just get a GoPro if u don’t have one and work on the editing. I’m no KZbinr but...I watch a lot of KZbin 😂. BTW how is it living in Mountain lion 🦁 territory? I’m from Massachusetts and believe they’re making a comeback on the east coast. Again thanks for replying. Oh before I forget, have u checked out that Toro Grand multi force? U can hook up a blower, plow n sweeper. I’m thinking of getting one over the Boss Snowrator
