I had a similar experience. But I eventually laughed at it all. My mother was born in Cuba when Jamaicans used to work there on the sugar plantation. I was born in England. So after going to infant school, primary school, high school then finally CAST it never dawn on me that need to apply for citizenship. So I went to the Ministry and the lady said ‘how you got free education, free scholarships, no work permits?’ ‘You don’t have any of this Rock yu know’ it scared me. Anyway, I revisited the same office a year later but was seen by a different lady. I told her about my first visit which she apologized on behalf of the woman. She assisted me and within a few months the citizenship was granted. Yes Jamaica is a paradise in spite of those one or two

"That immigration woman" SHOULD INDEED be serving interests of her fellow Jamaicans as a priority! That is what they are there to do: They are there to GUARD Jamaicans National Interests against UNKNOWN FOREIGN threats! If anything the vast majority of Jamaicans should never ever forget is how they came to be in Jamaica in the first place: It was on account of the evil acts of unknown foreign invaders and kidnappers! This immigration "woman" is on the right side of history; you are not!

She was born in Camaguey and came the US with Peter Pan. They placed her with a family in Oregon. She didn't speak any English and the students made fun of her. Those insults will always resonate with you as your first impression of how Jamaicans thought about you. "There are not enough good men in your own country that you have to take ours"? I got all of those comments and more. I salute you for your kindness in not naming that officer. Jamaica is a small island. Word travels with the speed of light. You know who you are and your worth.
