Great video and channel well done. If you apply for permitted development for a new barn then you will be able to move onto the land whilst you build the barn……. Long as the building that you are living in the forms to the 1968 caravan act. you could sell your house and use the money to build a modular home😊

Thanks 😊. I’ve been looking into barn builders rights, seems like an easy way to get to live on the land. Not confident enough to sell the house just yet though, need to investigate further. 👍🏻

I just happened upon your channel. So happy for you that you got the land you always dreamed of. We have 2 acres and we keep hoping for the 3 acres next door. It is abandoned and completely run down. Now it is just a waiting game. This gives me a ton of hope. Thank you!

Thanks. Surely if the land next door is abandoned you could put some sheep or goats on it to clear it. If the owner is about and sees this they will come and speak with you and if not just carry on using it as your own? Good luck. 👍🏻

If there’s already a brick built building on the land you should look into “class q” in England which is prior approval rather than a full planning application, even if it’s only a studio/bedsit it’ll give you the right to live there….

I have heard of class q. I just need to seek professional advice I think. Probably from an architect or a planning consultant?? Isn’t there a size limit to how small a dwelling can be?

@@doingoutdoors875 ive not seen any minimum size limit in class q, there is a maximum size limit However there is a minimum practical size limit I came aware of years ago when converting flats into bedsits which was around 18 sq metres…. The building has to be able to function

I thought I’d read something somewhere about a minimum size requirement. That might be the stumbling block as I think the brick building is only 12 m2

You can always start a small charcoal business on the land then you have a reason to be living on the land .. as it's unsafe not to be there living on the land...

You might try arguing that you need on-site security for the site. Not that you keep anything of high value there, but, for the care and maintenance of your animals.

caring for animals is very time consuming. Less time consuming if you’re living on site once you’ve cut out the commute time and expense. Not sure it would be enough to get planning??

Thanks Ryan 😊. Well I’m lucky enough that I didn’t have to deal with the banks. My debt is to family 😬. But a friend of mine bought 1.5 acres of pasture last year and looked into a mortgage and it is possible but the rates were really high so he went down a different route but it is possible. Hope this helps.👍🏻
