I 👏 AM 👏 OBSESSED
Can you believe this marble Philodendron Pink Princess was only $30? I was hemming and hawing because I honestly had no intention of buying a plant, but I could not leave her! Regardless of whether plants are considered rare or not, my philosophy is to get plants that bring me j͜͡o͜͡y͜͡.
Personally, I always wait until after the two-week quarantine/acclimation period is over to repot UNLESS the plant is in distress and clearly in need of intervention (soggy soil, ☠️ plug, pests, etc).

Hi! Here’s my recipe for insecticidal soap. It’s 1.5tsp neem with .5tsp Castile soap per quart of warm water. A tip i got from the Swedish Plant Guys is to take the plant root ball and wrap it in newspaper & leave it overnight - it totally wicks out all of the excess water. I actually replace the newspaper repeatedly until the newspaper only soaks up a tiny amount, then it's back to normal.

I typically repot within a few days… however I almost always grab the plants that you can tell are root bound (or just about root bound) but otherwise look healthy so that’s typically why..

I grabbed it similarly beautiful pink princess from home depot of all places (Costa Farms), and it was actually two mature plants, both extremely variegated and a small ppp philopup that has signs of being very pink and white. I paid $13. Got two pink princess philodendrons that were each too large for 8 inch planters, with 10+ leaves on each, and one small pup, maybe 4 inches tall, with 5 leaves. And it’s crazy, because I just got into houseplants maybe two years ago, and I have been wanting one ever since, but they were so expensive. Even a couple months ago on Etsy, they were still around $100 for some thing similar to what I got for $13.

I can’t do soil that chunky because it’s dries out too fast and i have too many plants with too little time to be watering then every other day lol….I use Ocean Forest soil from Fox Farms, I add a little bit of orchid bark, tiny bit of perlite and it’s perfect!

Hi! PERSONALLY, I don’t like pure coco coir because it’s very moisture retentive. My philodendron all like to dry out between waterings. I do use coco coir in soil with other inorganic amendments (eg perlite) to help with drainage

How do you plants do in sol soils, honestly. Personally my plants where stunted in that soil. Plants by Melissa did a whole video not directly naming them, but pretty much told us her plants rotted in that soil

I’ve personally never had an issue with Sol Soils and I’ve used it for a long time on most of my potted plants. Everyone’s watering habits and environmental conditions are different so I always say do what works best for you regardless of what I use. When I experience root rot, it’s always been related to a mistake I made with watering - not necessarily the soil. I hope you found a mix that works well for you! I made a Short on a new DIY mix I make with coco coir that I’ve been liking for my plants too.

Hi! Here’s my recipe for insecticidal soap. It’s 1.5tsp neem with .5tsp Castile soap per quart of warm water. Wait a second- do you need some kind of special indoor plant mix??! I use the ones in the big packs... They might be outdoor soil or something ☠️ and i have many problems with drainage like it just sits there for aggees and is never drained properly..... Um Edit- im completely new to plants- iv always wanted to own them but im still a noob at it 🥲

Outdoor soil shouldn’t be used on indoor plants. Most houseplants need a chunky, well-draining mix. You can DIY your own mix, or get premade ones like this: solsoils.com?sca_ref=3172733.oCeRoFRzJr (MICHELLE10 will get you a discount).

It’s all genetics. More light can help KEEP variegation, but how pink they get really comes down to whether it’s in the genes.

It’s peat moss and I don’t like how moisture retentive it is. It’s easy to rot plants if you’re not careful so I repotted.
