I recently got my touch up, and started JHS 8 months ago(for the second time after cutting my hair from DIY JHS damage). It cost me about 850$ the first time, and then 630$. It's expensive at once but I do it every 8 months so it's around 100$ a month towards it, which is less compared to an average budget for hair. My hair grows the average 1/2 in per month. My hair is retaining length just like the first time, but now I have little damage at the line of demarcation. Im 4b/c and when my hair grows out I use a revair to stretch the roots, I never use a flat iron except for the day I do touch ups. I use pH balanced treatments from L'ador, K18, and Olaplex. Im definitely doing this for years to come, someday I made try to do it myself but for now I prefer the salon. I go to a Japanese Salon in Boston and they have amazing service, they also give me a keratin treatment and scalp massage every visit. Once I reach 6months this time, I'll probably do a protective style to stretch longer until my next salon visit.

@@mariamabass6701 Hey! I go to salon defi on Newbury Street. It's a Japanese owned salon but the owner Jack has experience with multiple black clients, my hair is very coily and although he admits it's not the easiest or fastest, he will always do a good job. They give you a complimentary head spa and massage and it is AMAZING, I almost fell asleep.

I did this too! It was too expensive in Miami ($650 each time) but I did indeed retain length better.

I literally just saw you and Sundai in Japan, and I love you both so I’m honored!! 🥲💖💖 But, wooow girl $600 is too much just to touch up every few months 😭 That’s why I taught myself how! The Shiseido straight perm is only around $50-$100 on Amazon. I’ll stay out of the salon maybe until I visit Korea since it’s just around $100 or so dollars there

how does the hair with the treatment flow? like if you were to put it in a ponytail would it fall straight down or take a while and be kinda stiff?

If your hair is naturally wavy and you air dry it, you could probably take a ponytail down with no crease. If your hair is closer to my texture and flat ironed the result would be about the same, but when I air-dry my hair still flows it just has a ponytail crease when I take it down. During weeks where I air-dry, I just apply more leave in conditioner and serum before I tie my hair for the night and it smooths out any weird texture. When it’s flat ironed I can wrap it and it smooths everything out. But honestly, even if I let my hair dry overnight or while I walk around, the only stiff part is my roots that grew out! I hope this answers your question~ 🩷🩷

I'm naturally 4b/c and have JHS, my hair is extremely flowy. I never use a flat iron except when I get the touch up at the salon. I dry my hair with the revair and it flows well in a ponytail, when I take it down it leaves a slight bend that goes away after a while.

I got it done at SOHO salon. They’re a Japanese salon chain pretty popular on Oahu so you should be able to go on their website, find the closest location, and book a consultation. My original stylist moved, so I’m not sure who to recommend 🥲 It’s best to get a consultation and then go from there 🩷

Do you experience excessive hair shedding

I don't usually. If I comb my hair regularly I lose a normal amount, but if I wait a few days then it looks like a lot of shedding just because the hairs are stuck together. I hope this helps!
