I wonder why our hair always breaks off in the crown. Even when I was relaxed, I always had problems with this area

I grew my crown back successfully. :) I identified the issue. My crown is loose yet fine. This is a unlucky combo.The curl pattern is waved but the strands are so thin and in lose s. Some areas are puffy with waves so they snap easily. They don't clump together like the rest of my stronger areas. I wish I had coarse strands. My fix: I needed to add more product to those areas instead of cutting off years of hard work. I cried then sat down and twisted the area in loose twist seperate from the rest and drowned it in crisco and water every 3-4 days. I used a paddle brush on it every two weeks but used crisco mainly. I did this since last summer. I have a good six inches back now. You should have seen how short it was. It was a centimeter! I did henna treatments once a month. I wore a satin cap with a wig while it grew back in.I took biotin, drank tons of water and worked out. I washed it once every 2-3 weeks with diluted shampoo. Then I would add half a cup of crisco to my wet hair from the shower. Progress: I can walk around with my hair showing again. I sent my boyfriend a photo of my hair with my hair because my hair filled out and looks presentable. I still fell weird because it doesn't frame my forehead how I want yet. I am really proud of my work. It broke off due to lack of protein and my long bangs went away. I'm trying to get them to drop again like the rest of my hair. Ugh almost there, I have this massive thick whirl curl puff on my head that sticks up since the crown filled in but it won't frame my face because it needs another year. I forgot how thick my hair is. It looks silly since everything else droops all over due to length. I think by the end of next year, my framing bangs will be back in my forehead when they shrink. I will update in September. Good luck!

OH MY GOSH!! PUHLease come back!! I was/am really concerned I would have to cut my hair all off but you have given me hope!! My hair is naturally thick, I have so MUCH breakage which makes me question my full thickness! The disadvantage of having thick hair that disguises how much breakage I have means it’s harder for me to chop my hair off If I actually have to... If I had thin strands/density, this would be easier. I hope I don’t have too :/

That crown area is definitely my biggest challenge. Mine didn't break off but it is coarser than the rest of my hair and no matter how much I trim the ends are bushy. I also had to start separating the crown area and give it more attention. It use to grow slower than the rest of my hair but now it's getting better. I'm still looking for something, anything that will eliminate the coarse, frizzy, bushy ends. Thanks for sharing.

Virtue Curlykj Ok yes, I was going to suggest trims. I don't want to get on the topic of protein treatments because most are sensitive to it. I use the Aphohee 2 step treatment every 3 months. After my current ps, I will post a video about it, but it helps me when my ends look frayed or when I know I'm about to get a professional blowout. A lighter protein treatment is ORS hair mayo. Try on small section first for any allergic reactions. Also check your products make sure they are moisturizing not drying. I hope this helps. Keep me posted on your results!

+J ShaNee I am protein sensitive!!! I found out when I applied Henna to my hair about a year and a half ago. My hair became like straw and the crown section was the worse. I had to cut about two inches of the crown area. It was horrible. I have never applied any protein treatments since that. I look for products that are protein free. I know it's odd but My hair thrives without protein treatments.

I watched the video when you talked about your crown breakage. You mentioned using bobbi pins in that area. I was also experiencing crown breakage and I was using bobbi pins in that area. So I stopped using the bobbi pins in my crown area. Now I didn't cut all of my crown off but I did cut it. Since then my crown area is thriving. So I'm convinced that it was the bobbi pins and how I was positioning them in that area. Thanks for that video. Be blessed.

Sometimes I’m styling/detangling while sectioning in 2-4 parts, and the crown especially where I split it will break. I learned being more gentle there helps while adding more moisture. Patience helps so much.

I've been having a problem with the same area ever since forever . I think it was because I would always put my hair in a ponytail and go about my day . but recently I started doing embracing my curls and I noticed how much shorter it is compared to the rest of my hair . so I started using Jamaican black castor oil and the wild growth . I really hope it grows out quickly but I'll try to be patient . glad to see that your efforts paid off . thanks to you I don't feel alone anymore . thanks for sharing

End papers work well on perm rods to prevent hair from breaking on the bumps. For me porosity is definitely a factor in the crown area and I have to treat that area with a lot of TLC (AV juice, oil, butters & creams, to seal). I stopped using water to moisturize also, use aloe vera juice. Will definitely try Design Essential Coconut and Monoi Coconut Curl Refresher Water as a moisturizer.

Good. Because the breakage and hair loss may be a medical problem that damages the hair follicles permanently resulting in permanent hair loss. Sometimes a biopsy is required to find out the real reason for the hair loss...and breakage.

My crown is also a challenge for me. Due to that I have not been able to grow out my hair for the 4 years that I have been natural. My hair is very thick all around and feels moisturized, however, the crown of my head is very light and has no curl pattern at all, is just straight. Also before it breaks off, it always itches badly. I am planning to grow my hair again this year to see how it goes so I am doing some research so thanks for sharing this video.

My crown area and other sections throughout my hair is just shorter than the rest. I'm in 10th grade, and let's just say I like my weaves and crochet braids. I don't know what happen. My hair stylist ( who is a natural hairstylist) says it breakage. What oils or what can I do to help it grow while in cornrows?? Thanks❗️❤️

@deniciabrown 6 жыл бұрын
I would recommend first using blue magic coconut oil hair grease or Africa’s best herbal gro grease followed by wild growth oil or Africa’s best hair oil. Apply this in between the cornrows once in the morning and once at night and make sure to tie your hair up at night with a satin scarf or use a satin pillow case.

Protective style does include braids. However personally I stop adding extensions to my hair long ago. Once I realized that my strands were not strong enough to take on the extra weight of added hair. Since I made that decision, my hair is fuller, thicker and my hairline and crown is thriving. I only protective style using my own natural hair, in two stand twist.
