I've never thought of that having a few subs just to surround you but not to have loud noises, though I am looking at a sealed sub and only 1 though my space is smaller for the living room but an open space concept though

I have two Subs. Same brand but different models. There is a 15 inch ported sub behind the seats and a 12 inch sealed sub under the screen. I didn't think I needed a 2nd sub but when I set it up behind the seats it changed everything. This video has me thinking of maybe getting a 3rd sub but that's still up in the air. Side note I can't wait for you to get that house and see what you do with a dedicated room.

Running one PB16 in apartment. No complaints from neighbours maybe because we have no common walls. Wife complains about it when in the other room. I know it’s not to be done but was toying with the idea of running it in sealed to potentially stop it running into the next room. Any thoughts my friend?

I use 4 sub Klipsch R-12SW reference 12 inches all of then facing front view and the sound is amazing . I dont have the budget to buy the expensive one but the Klipsch get the job done very good

At what power setting you use those subs? Anywhere close to half? Btw has it ever crossed your mind to have screen just behind your desk chair and position yourself against shorter wall - more space for rear speakers canter channel could be on the wall above the monitors if you use transparent acoustic screen. Did you change R8a to prime elevation?
@Kpaceguy
@Kpaceguy 2 жыл бұрын
I've never has R8As. And yes I had my setup on the short wall for a year prior to buying my KEFs and it isn't a better setup. The wall is too narrow for a wide front sound stage. I used to have an acoustic transparent screen but don't need one. None of my subs are anywhere near half volume. They're extremely powerful

@@Kpaceguy oh I see. With subs that’s what I thought as that many watts is insane - interesting idea for an episode - since you have that many subs - making center channel full range via low pass with dedicated sub - worth it or not. Having all the channels crossed to lfe makes it narrow dynamic range and since majority of scenes come from center channel there is a noticeable improvement when having full range there and not crossing to lfe.

It really depends on the room. I've heard dual polk psw 10s sound pretty amazing but the room itself was quite small. I've also heard calibrated dual svs pb2000 pros in a medium bedroom sound pretty mid. The whole configuration matters.

@thelonestranger777
@thelonestranger777 2 жыл бұрын
@@Mjaybird if I were you I'd go and listen to a setup with svs subs and other subs too before making your decision. I went from 2 cheap Klipsch subs(k100sw) to 2 svs PB2000 pros. This was just based off everything I was hearing online about them and finally catching them on a sale off the svs website. I guess my expectations were too high and for the money I paid, I still wasn't 100% ecstatic about them. I even bought a minidsp and umik1 to calibrate them and set a room curve. Now don't get me wrong, they do dig way deeper than the Klipsch subs did but i just expected more to the sound. People say things like, oh whenever gunshots go off in a film, you will feel it in your chest and things like that. Unfortunately it wasn't the case for me. These subs provide a cleaner and deeper bass that's not as boomy as the cheaper subs I've used before. The opening scene to the second Godzilla movie(2019) is one of my favorite scenes to use. The studio logos are being shown on the screen and you hear the first footstep. It's mild and immediately gets you ready. A second step comes and it's even louder. Then comes the third step and it goes deeeeep, the room shakes a bit and it's like Godzilla is right outside your house. Godzilla then screeches and you hear it in your height channels as if he's towering right above. The svs does well with stuff like that but for other scenes it's just "regular" no muddy bass. Now, after some looking around, it seems that what I've been looking for is called mid bass. That's what gives those impactful yet non aggressive bass hits. I've moved recently and I'm getting my stuff set up. I'll let you know how the two subs perform in the new space. On a side note, the 2000s are only the second tier in the svs sub line up. They got 3 more tiers above that. I possibly should have gone for the sealed version of 2000 pro for a more punchy feel to the bass. So like I said, try and get a test sample before buying the subs, you just might find another that sounds better for the price or even cheaper.

I get that, but with all that great gear I could never truly enjoy that without pissing off the neighbors. Being a bass head if I don’t feel it deep inside I am not happy. Not unusual for my to be listening over 90db with peaks over 100db. I use two PSA V1800 ported subs as I like to,have my subs the same, just feel easier as they will,behave the same. Mine re both flanking the TV as I don’t need corner gain and worry the corners will create their own issues with controlling the bass and nominees. My subs sound tight and clean as my room is only 18x15x8 feet.
